00:01The Kuala Lumpur High Court has dismissed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's application
00:05to refer eight legal questions arising from a civil suit filed by a former research assistant
00:10to the federal court. Justice Rosemarie-Rozain said the eight legal questions posed by the
00:15prime minister failed to cross the threshold set out under Section 84 of the Courts of Judicature
00:20Act 1964. She said no articles cited in the federal constitution argued by the defendant's
00:27lawyers gave rise to any real substantial and justiciable questions of law that required
00:32a determination by the federal court. Therefore, she said the trial of Yusuf Rother's suit will
00:37proceed as planned on June 16th at 9am.
00:42Rosemarie also refused a stay of proceedings by Anwar's lawyer, Alan Wong, saying that her
00:47hands are tied. The prime minister wanted the apex court to rule whether articles 39, 40
00:5343 off the federal constitution grant him qualified immunity from a suit filed by Yusuf four years
00:58ago. The suit relates to events which allegedly took place before Anwar took office on November
01:0424th, 2022. Donish Rajareza, FMT.
