00:00We have to talk about your remixes, your Q-mixes.
00:06Q-mix.
00:06Yes, yes. So walk us through the process of your song choice, to
00:12you recording it, to you uploading it. Like, what is the
00:15process of it?
00:16When I pick the records, I really just do songs that I like
00:19and records that's hot. You know, songs that's hot that I
00:21hear everybody playing because I know it's gonna instantly get
00:23into their rotation. So I always think about how can I get in
00:26their speakers. So for me, it's like, okay. And I use it as like
00:32a method, like when I'm finna get ready to drop an album. So I
00:35know the quickest way to make people talk about Jacquees is to
00:39drop a remix. So it's like, it's calculated for me. And I do old
00:44school records because I love old school music, you know, and
00:47I know I have a lot of older fans. And I know they love when
00:51I do those type of records. So I do that, you know, for them,
00:53especially, even the young crowd, you know, young people
00:56love old school R&B too. And it's funny, because sometimes
00:59they'll think that's a new song, and it's really not, you know,
01:02it's like, this is an old song, but that'll let you know, you
01:06know, that the youth is on it, you know, not just the older
01:09crowd. But it's a lot of fun to go into the Queen Mixers. I
01:12really just go in there and don't even think. Like, when I
01:14did the Snooze and the Good Good, I really just went in the
01:17booth. I had just got to the studio, my boy Kev Mason was
01:20already in there, I put my boot bag down, and just went in the
01:23booth and just like that first thing I said when I said, I
01:28forgot what I said, but that was like the first thing off my
01:30brain. I just be going in. Queen Mixers is fun, though. So I
01:32hope everybody from the next Queen Mixers project I drop, I
01:36really think artists should, this is what I think, if I had
01:38it my way, I think every artist that I remix should take my
01:41verse and put it on a real remix. And I think it'll make
01:43their songs go more, I think it'll be more bigger, because
01:48what's best two is always better than one. And it's like, when
01:51you got somebody like me, that's already respecting the
01:55record, liking the record and the fans liking the record, if
01:57you're just trying to win, you might as well put it together
02:00because at the end of the day, you're trying to win. And
02:02that's how I look at it. I'm trying to, if somebody remakes
02:05my record, and it's hard, I'm putting them on my remix. Like
02:08I'm not gonna just let it sit out there for free when we can
02:11go run it up and make history together. That's just how I
02:14think, though. But everybody like me, you know?
02:17Exactly. Like it could definitely be a collaborative
02:19record. So I'm here for it. And lastly, before we let you go, is
02:24it possible for you for you to give us one good E harmony for
02:28the girls?
02:30I need someone to listen to me. Yeah. To me. To me.
02:45I love it. I love it. Well, thank you so much for speaking
02:48with Essence today. And you could catch him on the Essence
02:51Festival stage at New Orleans.
