The frontman of the band Crazy Town, Seth Binzer, who was known to fans as Shifty Shellshock, died on Monday. He was 49 years old. According to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner's Office, Binzer died at a residence in Los Angeles. No cause of death has been released and an investigation is underway as to the cause and manner of his death.

00:17Crazy Town was formed in 1999 by Benzer and Brett Epic Mazur. The duo, who had been performing as
00:23the Brimstone Sluggers, changed their name when they brought additional musicians on board to
00:27round out the band. Success came quickly for the group thanks to the song Butterfly off their
00:31debut album The Gift of Game. Butterfly quickly rose to No. 1 on the charts and helped the band
00:36sell 1.5 million copies of their first album. Crazy Town broke up in 2003. However, Benzer
00:46found a bit of success outside of the band when he collaborated with British producer Paul Oakenfold,
00:51contributing vocals to the hit 2002 single Starry-Eyed Surprise.
01:01Crazy Town reunited in 2007 and released three songs in 2009. Occasional single releases followed
01:08and the band released an album called The Brimstone Sluggers in 2015, a reference to
01:12Benzer and Mazur's first band together. In 2016, they toured with other 2000s bands on the Make
01:17America Rock Again tour. Mazur left the band in 2017. Benzer had spoken about his struggles
01:22with drug addiction and appeared on VH1's Celebrity Rehab 1 and 2. He is survived by two sons.
