00:05 oh, I do have a lot of thoughts and feelings about that.

00:09 I didn't know I would.

00:13 Ooh, that's a good question.

00:18 I mean, the thing I'm excited for is to marry Steven.

00:22 I love him so much.

00:23 He's the best, of course.

00:25 Honestly, there's like small things that have been stressful

00:29 like the tiny things where you're like,

00:30 I didn't know that you could make,

00:32 there's just so many decisions, you know,

00:33 you're like, oh, I didn't know I could even decide on that.

00:36 But overall, it's just,

00:38 it's been a really positive experience.

00:39 I think, you know, it's like you're planning the,

00:42 one of the most supposed to be like

00:44 the most loving party of your life.

00:46 Like, it's just kind of the perspective

00:48 that you have to have about it.

00:49 Even when it gets stressful, you're like,

00:50 how stressful could it be that it would take me out

00:52 of understanding like what a moment this is?

00:54 Like, it's so special.

00:55 So the minor stresses have been like,

00:59 they'll get, you know, everything will work out.

01:01 Like everything's,

01:02 and everything's gonna be perfect the way it is.

01:05 Like, so I'm very, very excited.

01:08 The one thing is I did not know that I was very opinionated.

01:12 I thought I was gonna be more like,

01:13 oh, whatever, like this or that sounds good.

01:15 But I do have a lot of opinions.

01:17 So that was something I learned about myself.

01:19 (gentle music)

01:23 - Yeah, I mean, I feel very lucky that Hills Pet

01:26 wanted me to be doing this campaign with them

01:29 for Clear the Shelters Day.

01:30 I have two rescue pups of my own

01:33 and they have just enriched my life so much.

01:37 I can't imagine life without them.

01:39 And it just felt, I mean,

01:40 I just recently adopted my dog, Fable.

01:43 And she's just like, everything's new to her.

01:46 She's getting used to the world.

01:48 And it's so rewarding to see the change in her personality

01:51 as she becomes more confident and comfortable.

01:53 And so just like working with shelter animals

01:56 has always been something that meant so much to me.

01:58 That's how I actually came across Fable.

01:59 I was volunteering at a shelter

02:01 and then I saw my baby there.

02:04 So having this campaign,

02:07 have being part of this campaign this year

02:09 and being able to come and help

02:10 and take photos of the dogs to help get them adopted

02:13 is so special because I don't know

02:15 if a lot of people know this,

02:16 but like 95% of adopters say that like a photo of the dog

02:19 is so important to the adoption process.

02:21 People wanna see their personalities,

02:23 but a lot of these shelters don't have all the resources

02:26 to have these photographs taken.

02:28 So people can volunteer.

02:30 I mean, there's so many ways to help.

02:32 You don't just have to open your home to adoption

02:34 if you're not ready yet.

02:35 I mean, if you are, amazing.

02:36 But there's just so many ways to get involved

02:39 and help with the overcrowding in shelters

02:41 and help relieve the stress off of the staff

02:46 and volunteers of these shelters

02:47 that are experiencing capacity issues.

02:53 I have never not had a dog.

02:58 I have like always, always had a dog

03:00 and I absolutely love, love cats too.

03:02 I'm just very allergic, so I don't have any.

03:04 But like, I just, I've always been such an animal lover.

03:09 I can't imagine my life without animals in it.

03:12 Like it's just, and I'm so lucky.

03:15 My fiance is just as much an animal lover as I am.

03:17 So when we adopted Fable,

03:20 I was, he was, it was immediately he was on board.

03:22 He didn't even see her.

03:23 He didn't see what she looked like.

03:24 I was like, I found this dog.

03:26 He was like, great, get her.

03:27 I was like, okay.

03:28 - All family dogs.

03:29 - Dogs are, so Fable is the newest member of our family,

03:32 but our other dog, Jesse, was originally my fiance's dog.

03:36 And then of course he's our dog now.

03:38 But yeah, he's such a dog lover.

03:40 And you know, Jesse and Fable both have their,

03:43 both have their quirks and their funny little things

03:45 and they both have anxiety,

03:46 but they both are so special

03:48 and like the sweetest things ever.

03:50 So I met Fable and it was just like,

03:59 I mean, her story is really, really, really sad.

04:02 I mean, her and her siblings were found in the woods

04:04 and then they were taken into the shelter

04:06 and they were all put in the same pen together.

04:09 And Fable was the runt of the litter

04:10 and her siblings tried to, you know, kill her.

04:14 They wanted her gone.

04:15 They wanted her out 'cause she was the runt.

04:17 And it got really bad.

04:19 She almost died and it was really, really bad.

04:22 So she was terrified of dogs.

04:24 When I met her, she was just like so sweet

04:28 and just wanted to like hug,

04:30 but was also so afraid and had like the saddest eyes.

04:33 And you know, it was something that like,

04:37 a lot of people look for,

04:38 that's why photos are so important.

04:40 They want a dog that's smiling.

04:41 They want a dog that's happy.

04:42 A lot of people, when they are considering adopting,

04:44 they look for the dog that seems like

04:47 it's gonna be like the happiest dog.

04:49 And I completely understand that.

04:51 But because I know that,

04:53 I was drawn to her because she was just

04:56 kind of the opposite of that.

04:57 I knew that her likelihood of getting adopted

04:59 was pretty low and she's also a bigger dog

05:02 and that's also kind of hurts her chances

05:04 of getting adopted as well.

05:05 And so going into, I mean, I wasn't necessarily looking,

05:08 but I wasn't not looking.

05:10 And so I knew that if I was gonna go home with a dog,

05:13 I wanted it to be a big dog.

05:14 And she just, you know, she had this look in her eyes

05:18 and I was like, you are coming home with me

05:19 and we're gonna build you a good life.
