00:00SG, come on out here! Come on back up!
00:10Savannah Guthrie is officially back on today, and this time, it's for good.
00:16The longtime NBC News co-anchor returned a receipt Monday morning at 7 a.m. Eastern,
00:21alongside Craig Melvin, slipping right back into the rhythm of the broadcast.
00:26Wearing a bright yellow dress and surrounded by matching roses,
00:28Guthrie opened the show with major headlines, including developments in Iran and a potential
00:3345-day ceasefire, as well as a rescue mission for the two-down American airmen.
00:38It may have looked like any other morning, but it wasn't.
00:41After teasing stories on rising gas prices, NASA's Artemis II mission,
00:46and the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship with a nod to UCLA's big win,
00:51Guthrie paused to acknowledge the moment.
00:54Good morning. Welcome to today on this Monday morning. We are so glad you started your week.
00:58With us, and it is good to be home.
01:01Yes, it is good to have you back at home.
01:03Well, here we go. Ready or not, let's do the news.
01:06From there, it was largely business as usual.
01:08By the 7-13 mark, Guthrie was already joking with Melvin about his South Carolina roots after the Gamecocks loss.
01:15Al Roker also welcomed her return, saying it was good to look over and see Guthrie, quote,
01:20where she belongs.
01:21But the subtle tributes underscored the emotional weight of the morning.
01:25Members of the on-air team wore yellow ribbon pins, a symbol tied to the ongoing search for Guthrie's mother,
01:31Nancy.
01:32Outside Studio 1A at Rockefeller Plaza, fans gathered with signs of support.
01:36And later, during the 8.30 hour, Guthrie stepped outside to greet the crowd in person,
01:41growing emotional as she thanked viewers.
01:43These signs are so beautiful.
01:46You guys have been so beautiful.
01:48I've received so many letters, so much kindness to me and my whole family.
01:53We feel it.
01:54We feel your prayers.
01:55So thank you so much.
01:57Guthrie's return comes after a two-month absence following the abduction of her mother, Nancy Guthrie,
02:02from her Tucson home on February 1st.
02:04The case, now involving both local authorities and the FBI, remains unsolved,
02:09with no suspects identified and no proof of life.
02:12Nancy Guthrie is 84 years old and in poor health.
02:16In the weeks since, Guthrie made two brief appearances on Today,
02:20including a tearful sit-down interview with Hoda Kotb,
02:22where she reflected on the ordeal and suggested her own public profile may have played a role in her mother's
02:28disappearance,
02:29while acknowledging the motive remains unclear.
02:31That interview also marked the moment she confirmed her return.
02:35Now, Savannah Guthrie is back on the desk,
02:38balancing the demands of live television with a deeply personal crisis still unfolding.
