00:00David Letterman is sharing his thoughts on CBS's decision to replace The Late Show with Stephen
00:04Colbert with Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen. During a recent conversation on The Barbara Gaines
00:10Show, the former Late Show host and comedian said this of the change. Yeah, yeah, they don't want to
00:15spend any money, so they're going to make money. They charge Byron Allen some reasonable price.
00:20He sells all the advertising for his Comics Unleashed. He continued, and it'll be, I think,
00:2590 minutes or two hours of comics talking about funny stuff. The show is a pretty good idea. It's all
00:33panel. Nobody's doing any stand-up except they're seated doing stand-up. Letterman, of course, hosted
00:39The Late Show for more than two decades, from 1993 to 2015 before Colbert took over. Once The Late Show
00:46signs off the air on May 21st, CBS will begin to run Comics Unleashed in the 11.35 p.m.
00:52time slot
00:52beginning May 22nd. That will be followed by another Allen-produced series, Funny You Should
00:57Ask, at 12.35 a.m. Allen previously said in a statement,
01:01I created and launched Comics Unleashed 20 years ago so my fellow comedians could have a platform
01:06to do what we all love, make people laugh. I truly appreciate CBS's confidence in me by picking up
01:12our two-hour comedy block of Comics Unleashed and Funny You Should Ask, because the world can never have
01:17enough laughter. The switch will likely see CBS turn a profit in Late Night, as Allen is buying time
01:22from the network to era shows. For more on this story and all the latest news, go to THR.com.
