00:07to pay 150,000 ringgit in damages to his former son-in-law, Gavin Edward Olunek.
00:13According to Bernama, a three-member panel overturned a high court ruling that the statements
00:17made by the chef on social media were not defamatory.
00:21In delivering the court's decision, Justice Aziza Nawawi granted a perpetual injunction
00:25prohibiting the chef from publishing defamatory statements about his former son-in-law.
00:30She also ordered Chef Juan to pay a 5% interest per annum until the final settlement of the
00:35judgment sum.
00:36Olunek, whose Muslim name is Salahuddin Ghaffar, was married to Chef Juan's daughter Serena
00:41from 2010 to 2017.
00:44In February 2021, Olunek sued Chef Juan for publishing eight social media posts that he
00:49claimed had defamed him and his present wife.
00:52In response, Chef Juan said the statements were published based on facts and written
00:56without malicious intent.
