00:00A British woman is suing Prince Code Medical Centre for extracting her personal medical
00:09records without consent. Christine Lees alleged that hospital staff had intended to use the
00:14information against her in a separate negligence suit she filed over an error that reportedly
00:18led to her son's disability. She is seeking 3 million ringgit in special damages for breaches
00:24of contract, fiduciary duty and confidentiality as well as for violating her privacy rights and
00:29data protection laws. Lees also said she lost business clients and suffered a loss
00:35of at least 3 million ringgit after she failed to manage her business due to emotional anguish.
00:40However, Prince Code contends that the suit was an act of intimidation while the negligence case
00:45is midway through trial. The hospital also said Lees had agreed with all terms and conditions
00:50when she gave it consent to advise, diagnose and treat her in 2016.
00:54Prince Code said all records of her treatment and surgery were hospital property under the law
00:58and that her consent to the terms complied with all data protection laws.
