00:00A forensic pathologist told an inquest in Kota Kinabalu that the death of Form 1 student Zahra
00:05Kairina Mahathir was not likely caused by an accidental fall or being pushed from a standing
00:10position. Dr. Jessie Hughes said she reviewed Zahra's medical records, including radiographs,
00:16CT and CTA scan reports, as well as conducted an examination at the scene, Brita Harian reported.
00:23Based on the inspection at the deceased's hostel, Hughes said the height of the iron rail attached
00:28to the wall on the third floor was likely above Zahra's center of gravity as it is more than
00:33three-quarters of her height. Hughes noted that for women, the center of gravity was typically in the
00:39pelvic region, usually below the navel, in a standing position. Based on the measurements of the height
00:45and width of the concrete wall, the height of the iron rail, and the deceased's anti-mortem height,
00:50Hughes said it is possible that Zahra climbed the concrete wall, crossed the iron rail, and stood
00:55on the concrete wall. Zahra was found unconscious at 4am on July 16th after allegedly falling from
01:02the third floor of her school's hostel in Papar Sabah. She died in hospital in Kota Kinabalu
01:07with the following day.
