00:05Hello and welcome to another video. Today I'll be unboxing these. These are a bunch of Pokemon Mezostar chips.
00:24Looks like there's two bags in here. So these are small arcade chips that you can use with an arcade
00:30machine in order to play a Pokemon game in Japan.
00:33These are Japanese chips. I believe some other regions might also have them as well. So let's open these up
00:40and have a look at them.
00:42Ok we're starting with this one.
01:11Almost there.
01:29And we're there. So these are used in a small plastic bag.
01:38So as you can see there's a few different colours.
01:41We have the black ones here. We have these sort of whitish green ones.
01:45We have green ones, yellow ones, and red ones.
01:50I said these were Pokemon Mezostars.
01:53But this is a bag. It's got a few different.
01:55These more rectangular ones are called Ga-O-Lays.
02:01And the rounded ones are called Mezostars.
02:03So there's two different types of chips here.
02:06They're both used in a Pokemon arcade game.
02:08But of course the games they're used in are different.
02:12So I'll open this up.
02:22Here's a Pokemon one.
02:24And this is a Ga-O-Lays chip.
02:28In China it's got Pokemon, Pokeball and some nice little artwork.
02:35It's got the stats.
02:36And an old QR code which will be scanned by the machine.
02:40So it knows what chip you've played.
02:46These ones are about Mezostars.
02:51So as you can see this one is quite shiny.
02:54So it's got a metallic sort of foil cover on it.
02:56Here's the back.
02:59It's got the stats on the back.
03:01And then just the image and some more stats on the front.
03:06Here's another one.
03:07Unlike the other one this one is a italic one.
03:10Just a regular one.
03:13Of course these ones are just white plastic.
03:21This is another Ga-O-Lay.
03:25This one is white this time.
03:29Seems that for whatever reason.
03:31See this one is nice and flat with the sticker on top.
03:36But with this one it seems that the sticker is elevated.
03:40Looks like it's actually on a piece of plastic or something.
03:46So it's a thicker piece of plastic that's glued on top.
04:07So I've figured out why there's a little bit of plastic protruding on these ones.
04:16So you can actually stack them.
04:18So I've figured out why there's a little bit of plastic protruding on these ones.
04:18So they don't come apart.
04:23See?
04:24Just chopping them against each other.
04:26Just chopping them against each other.
04:27They stick together.
04:29Because there's a small latch there.
04:32Of course you can just slide them up like that.
04:34That's not Squirtle.
04:36I forgot the name of it.
04:44Of course with this black one where it's just bent like that.
04:50Oops.
04:53It does work with that.
04:56Only because there's a little malted ledge here above there.
05:01I think that being sticking out a bit.
05:04It would also help with inserting them into the machine.
05:07That would also make it so you can only put them in one way.
05:11So that means the barcode will always be visible.
05:15Because there's a little ledge there.
05:17It goes...
05:17It sticks out.
05:19Then it goes in there compared to there.
05:22Okay, back to the Mezistar.
05:31Here we have another metallic one.
05:37Do not the vehicular one.
05:42This is a memory tag.
05:44So you use this to save games.
05:46This is 200 saves worth on it.
05:58So we've got a little ledge.
06:00We've got one here.
06:03Another one.
06:05And here's another one of the plastic printed ones.
06:09The black ones.
06:11That's one in the original packaging and one not.
06:18This one also has a small card at the back.
06:23I believe these black ones were promotional items that you get with magazines.
06:27So Mezistar.
06:31Go back to the Galois.
06:34You have a nice lime green one.
06:39And the Charizard.
06:52Here we go.
06:56That's a nice artwork.
07:06Got a big pile here.
07:16Okay, we've got this Nezistar one here, a nice metallic one, that's another nice artwork.
07:31I've got a Pikachu, I know the back of that is a bit dirty.
07:51I can make a Nezistar, a shiny one, another shiny, another shiny, another shiny, but a few shinies.
08:09Shiny, shiny, there we go another one.
08:19Another interesting thing to point out about these is that the Nezistars, because they've
08:24got this wrapped around.
08:27They had to do all the pre-printing and put in the machine, whereas it was much simpler
08:34with these cutaways, because things are still printed on one side, they get slowed up a bunch
08:41of blank ones, and just have the machine print them by themselves.
08:46This is as needed, so you wouldn't run out of any particular kind, and it was much simpler
08:52in terms of mechanism.
08:55Okay, Nezistar, that's a nice shiny one.
09:00Regular.
09:03Regular.
09:04Regular.
09:06Regular.
09:06Ooh, we've got another shiny one.
09:09What's that?
09:14I think it's a sticker from something.
09:18I'll try to take it off.
09:26There we go.
09:27There's another green one.
09:30Got another Pikachu one.
09:37Got another shiny.
09:46Got another shiny.
09:50Then Galois.
09:52Shiny Mezistar.
09:53It's actually the same one as we had earlier.
09:58Another Mezistar.
10:04A nice fancy Pikachu metallic Mezistar.
10:13So this video did end up taking a while.
10:16I still do have this other bag, so I'll turn that into another video.
10:20So I'll link that when I've got it done.
