00:00Hello and welcome back to The View. Today we've got some more mixed Japanese games to look at.
00:05We've got a bunch of different systems, we've got stuff for the Famicom, the Famicom Disk System,
00:09actually there's a few Famicom Disk System things here, as well as what I think those are for the
00:17Bandai, Mangajuku, whatever it's called, Design Master, and then that's just an adapter for the
00:23Retro Freak emulator console thing. I think we'll start with this because the
00:28ball that's already starting to come off. I'll close that side.
00:39There we go. This is a Famicom Disk System game, actually a boxed version with an entire box.
00:48Most games only have the smaller case like that. There's a bit of wear on the Outwrapper and there's
00:56also a tear on it. It's a pretty good condition. I've seen a couple games have this sort of style
01:01of
01:01box. So it's for Wavejack, which assumes the publisher. There's a system there.
01:08A bit of more wear there. If I take this out.
01:14Stickers there, put on the side of the box. I've got the manual,
01:19I've got some more paperwork and stuff in here.
01:24Quite a fancy box.
01:28I assume these little tokens are like a board game type thing.
01:31Just to cut them. Not going to do that. It's managed to survive about 40 years.
01:39I don't think they could board anything to actually play. I think these little tokens.
01:42This is like a little book.
01:49For the manual, all this in blue and white. Explains that.
01:57Here is the game.
02:00Looked in pretty good condition.
02:03And there's actually cassette tape in the bottom of this.
02:07A bit difficult to get out.
02:09Jazz rack as all of these licensed things seem to have.
02:14This looks like some RPG style game. It has a soundtrack presumably.
02:21I don't know 100% sure, but yeah, I assume Poppins is the band and it's like the
02:26game soundtrack.
02:28If I open this.
02:32There you go, it looks very pristine.
02:37So I'll put these back in here.
02:44That doesn't have to go back in.
02:47Just because it's a bit tight.
02:51Actually that's upside down, isn't it?
02:59That fits slightly better that way.
03:03And we'll put that there. We'll sort out the rest of this a bit later.
03:09Put all these to the side.
03:13There's a quite interesting thing where we can collect all those ones in boxes at some point.
03:18Also, this one side is a bit open.
03:22Let's get both of these things out.
03:26That's the metal case.
03:28And this is just the adapter.
03:35So if you don't know, the Retro Freak is similar to the Retron 5.
03:38It's a game's console emulator base where you can plug in a bunch of different cards for different
03:43systems and play them.
03:44This is an adapter that you plug into the Mega Drive cartridge and then you can play a few other
03:51systems.
03:52So this cartridge is for the SG-1000 and those types of systems.
03:56We have the Hue card type things, whatever they're called.
03:59The Sega My card, I think that's what they're called.
04:01Which I've already got the adapter for those.
04:02I could have just played it in the cartridge slot anyway.
04:05And this side is for Game Gear.
04:06I didn't realize Game Gear cartridge was actually that large.
04:09Don't have any.
04:11Yeah, I thought since it was a portable console, it probably would have been smaller, but no.
04:14Actually quite sizeable cartridges.
04:17Now this is TV Network Live in Powerball.
04:21So Powerball is a Famicom game.
04:26I'm going to have to cut this open.
04:32Might have to do it here.
04:35Let's do the tape here.
04:38It's a unique game.
04:40Because just like the Dragon's Lair game I had a look at before, that one didn't come in the box.
04:48But they share something in common.
04:51If I open this up.
04:53It's just the loose cartridge actually.
04:55This box is broken.
04:59Yeah that's broken.
05:02Let's see if I can fix that at some point.
05:06Maybe you can just move back in position.
05:09But if I take this cartridge out.
05:14And see the back of it's white, the front of it's black.
05:17So I think it's the only two cartridges that I'm aware of is the Dragon's Lair.
05:21And this one where it's two different coloured plastic pieces for the front and back of the cartridge.
05:27So quite unique.
05:29Probably wouldn't be better if there was some like foam or something in here.
05:35Otherwise it's sort of moving around in the tin.
05:47Let's try to put that back in.
05:50And we'll try to assemble the box.
05:52Now what I think I have to do.
05:55If I put this in here.
05:59All right that's a bit of a weird way of assembling it.
06:02Put that in here.
06:04Put one side in.
06:07Like this.
06:08And then I push it in.
06:09I'm going to do the off count and then come back.
06:10Because I don't know if I can really do this while leaning over the bench.
06:13So I have managed to fix it.
06:15It's still loose.
06:16Because there's actually the metal bar visible from here.
06:19Which can sort of move across.
06:21But I think for the most part it should stay in between these two little metal pieces.
06:25But sort of protruding out.
06:27And punched in.
06:28So that should stop the bar from moving.
06:30But I think it's because there's actually a bit of a dent here.
06:32With that slightly out of alignment.
06:34So it can move around.
06:38It's mostly fine.
06:39I don't know if I can try to push that out from the inside.
06:43Try to fix that dent.
06:46Okay but it's probably a bit too solid this.
06:50I mean just try to fix that.
06:52Here is the power bowl game.
06:57Quite interesting.
07:01Let's just put this back in here.
07:04It's a nice little tin to go with it.
07:07Put that one to the side.
07:09We've done about three of our things so far.
07:11I think next we can go through this.
07:12Which I think is just all Famicom Disk System games.
07:30So first I think we've got this game.
07:32It's one of these larger Famicom Disk System boxes.
07:35It's a different style to the other one.
07:37But this is by Dog.
07:38Which is Disk Original Game.
07:39Which I didn't originally know.
07:41I think it's an interesting name.
07:43Because I saw a lot of games.
07:44So yes they're really just a publisher.
07:45That helps companies go into the Disk System.
07:48You can see Hungry Bird Software.
07:49Which is another publisher.
07:51This box is a bit crushed.
07:53See it's sort of like a dungeon crawler game.
07:56If I open this up.
07:58See a big manual in there.
08:03There we go.
08:05And here.
08:06I don't know if this has actually been used.
08:09I think that's.
08:10I don't know if it's not sealed.
08:11Let's open at the top.
08:14Anyway.
08:14Pretty pristine.
08:17Put that back in there.
08:27The thing at the bottom.
08:28Where it's sort of pushing.
08:30In.
08:30Which is a bit of a problem.
08:31With some of these slidey ones.
08:33I'm going to have to fix that.
08:36Bottom.
08:37That looks good.
08:39Now for some loose.
08:41The system games.
08:44We have.
08:45I don't know what this one is.
08:47We've got Versic Sidebike.
08:50I'm not sure.
08:51But it's definitely been discounted at some point.
09:02I don't know if I can get it out.
09:07It is.
09:08Same text.
09:10Yes.
09:11It must be Doki Doki Panic.
09:13So.
09:14Mario 2.
09:15But not very Japanese.
09:17Mario 2.
09:17Which is also a disc system.
09:19International.
09:20Version.
09:23Now we have.
09:24Ally Wars.
09:25I think I already have.
09:29Not sure.
09:30But is that the Ultraman game.
09:32And then.
09:33Xevious.
09:33With a shooter mark.
09:34So yes.
09:35A couple of shooter marks.
09:36Now we've got this one.
09:38Which if I take it out.
09:42Is a not for sale.
09:44One of the Japanese.
09:45Demo versions of the game.
09:47Which is interesting.
09:48Don't see many of the Japanese ones.
09:49Mostly the American ones.
09:52There's also.
09:53Region code ones in those.
09:56Let's open this.
09:58A few more.
10:00The system games.
10:11It's a big fancy one.
10:14That's a big metal tin.
10:16It's all wrapped up.
10:17In like clean wrap.
10:18So I'll have to.
10:20Cut that off.
10:22You know.
10:23A little bit.
10:23Now since I've gotten one.
10:24That's wrapped up like that.
10:38So there we go.
10:39We'll start.
10:40With this top game.
10:41We'll put the bottom one.
10:42Next.
10:42It looks like a.
10:44Dust sleeve type thing.
10:47There's the side of it.
10:50Trying to figure out how to get this.
10:52Out.
10:55A little slide out.
10:56It's got a manual.
10:57It's sitting there.
10:58It's a new manual.
10:58Is it?
10:59It's a comic.
11:00No it is manual.
11:01It's actually.
11:02With the nicest.
11:03Final comedy system.
11:04Game manual I've seen.
11:08Actually in color as well.
11:11Let's see.
11:11A bit of.
11:12Scratches on there.
11:14Other side is blue.
11:17And.
11:19It's another one.
11:20Where they're.
11:21Almost falling out.
11:22You can see.
11:23This one's slightly different.
11:24The mechanism.
11:24So that's probably.
11:25A bit better.
11:26So it's got the.
11:28Game here.
11:28Just at the bottom.
11:29So I assume there's.
11:30Something else.
11:31That's supposed to be in here.
11:32Or maybe that's just.
11:32So you can install.
11:33Multiple games.
11:34Maybe it's too deep here.
11:35Too deep here.
11:35So you can install.
11:37Four.
11:38Final comedy system games.
11:39All in this nice little case.
11:42Nothing else in here.
11:45Put that away.
11:54Yeah that's interesting.
11:57The cover on the back is peeling.
11:59I think that's also one that wraps around.
12:02In there so you can take this.
12:04Dust jacket out of the dust case.
12:07Might have to sense this.
12:10So this is one of the.
12:11Unlicensed.
12:12Hacker games.
12:14For the.
12:14Famicom.
12:15Disc system.
12:16So if you don't know.
12:17The disc system.
12:18Nintendo sort of.
12:19Cracked down on people.
12:20Making their own cartridges.
12:21And they all had to go through.
12:22Their stuff.
12:23There's a few groups.
12:24That realize you could use.
12:25Quick discs.
12:26In a slightly modified form.
12:28To actually.
12:29Make games on it.
12:30Or release games.
12:31So you don't have to go through.
12:32Nintendo.
12:32And pay their royalties on it.
12:33I think one thing.
12:34A lot of companies didn't like.
12:35Is that the disc system.
12:36Apparently.
12:36Nintendo wanted equity.
12:38In the game.
12:39Partial ownership.
12:40Of the rights.
12:40If one was released.
12:41On the disc system.
12:43So it wasn't.
12:43As easy to get in.
12:46You see.
12:47It comes in.
12:47This little.
12:47Super pig.
12:48So.
12:48Super pig.
12:49I believe.
12:50Because I thought.
12:50Was a different.
12:51Third party.
12:53Game maker.
12:55Now.
12:56Here is.
12:56The cartridge.
12:59The cartridge.
13:00Disc rather.
13:00The white one.
13:01Doesn't have the antenna thing there.
13:04Let's put that in.
13:07Glad there's no manual.
13:08Because it's.
13:09At least for a lot of these.
13:10My sensor ones.
13:12Not quite appropriate.
13:14Family friendly stuff.
13:15You probably could have guessed that.
13:16From the front cover.
13:18There's no picture.
13:19So we don't have to worry about that.
13:21And then the last thing.
13:23Is this little package here.
13:29This is actually.
13:30A bunch of different games.
13:35So we'll start.
13:37With this one.
13:38Which.
13:39Is a.
13:40Famicom cartridge.
13:45Pull this.
13:46Off.
13:49The Sunsoft game.
13:50Which you can probably.
13:51Guess.
13:51It was not for sale.
13:53This is a demo version.
13:54Of the game.
13:54Ascent stores.
13:56Nothing on the back.
13:57But it is.
13:58The Sunsoft cartridge.
14:00Don't know what's in it.
14:01It could be.
14:02Either.
14:02One.
14:03The original.
14:04One.
14:04Ascent.
14:04For the.
14:05Actual release version.
14:05Or it could be.
14:06An early.
14:07Slash.
14:07Modified version.
14:08For demos.
14:09Which some.
14:10Companies did.
14:10Some companies.
14:11Just use the original version.
14:12Sometimes they did.
14:13Like an earlier version.
14:14So they get.
14:15The advertising.
14:16Out a bit earlier.
14:17And sometimes.
14:17If you look at the screen.
14:18They might even say.
14:19Demo or something.
14:20On the.
14:20Actual screen.
14:21Which is something.
14:21I've seen in a couple games.
14:22But most of them.
14:23Just the retail version.
14:25Also.
14:25If it's an earlier version.
14:26Potentially.
14:27Instead of using.
14:27Mask prompt.
14:28Could be something.
14:28Like a.
14:29UV erasable.
14:31ROM chip.
14:31In it.
14:33In it.
14:33So these.
14:34Are for.
14:35The.
14:36Manga Juku.
14:37The Bandai.
14:38Design Master.
14:39System.
14:40I think.
14:41I do already have.
14:42This one.
14:43But.
14:44These ones.
14:45These.
14:45These two.
14:46Definitely.
14:46Once I don't have.
14:47This one.
14:48Potentially.
14:48But I think.
14:49It's just.
14:50Dragon Ball.
14:50And potentially.
14:51Sailor Moon ones.
14:52I have.
14:53Finding it.
14:53The full set.
14:54And she goes.
14:55Mega Man.
14:56A little sticker.
14:56There for Capcon.
14:59And so.
14:59That's a few.
15:01Games to it.
15:01Which is.
15:02Unique.
15:02Sound point.
15:03Because it was.
15:03The first.
15:04Handheld.
15:05Console.
15:05At least.
15:05With.
15:05Touch screen.
15:07Use it for.
15:07Like drawing.
15:08And things like.
15:08The stylus.
15:09And.
15:10These cartridges.
15:11Some of them.
15:11Are graphics cartridges.
15:12Some of them.
15:12Game cartridges.
15:13So you could.
15:13Want to save.
15:14Your own.
15:14Graphics.
15:15Using some of the games.
15:16But you could.
15:16Sort of.
15:17Combine the cartridge.
15:18And sort of.
15:19Piggyback.
15:19One on the other.
15:20Use those graphics.
15:21As it was.
15:22Supported.
15:23For the actual game.
15:26See.
15:27Pretty detailed.
15:28Only black and white.
15:32And that is that.
15:33So that is it.
15:34This video.
15:34If you like.
15:35If you like.
15:35A video.
15:35Comment down.
15:35All your thoughts.
15:36And ideas.
15:36If you just.
15:37And subscribe.
15:37See.
15:38Something like this.
15:38In the future.
15:45In the future.
15:58In the future.
15:59In the future.
15:59In the future.
