00:00 The fourth regatta of the season took place on Sunday with Casta Scove and
00:04 Chagaramas being the venue. But there was a major concern for Trinidad and
00:08 Tobago Powerboats Association President Jonathan Tordier who wanted to dispel
00:12 all rumors about not having a great race this year. So the reason for the this
00:16 soft launch today is so that we can you know just announced everybody that great
00:21 race will be the Saturday 17th as everyone knows it's the longest-running
00:26 offshore powerboat race consecutively in the world and you know we've been
00:30 hearing little rumors and little things about no great race may be called off
00:34 not happening not under my watch it will never happen while I am here
00:39 God forbid. The TTPBA plans to have the great race parade and boat show at the
00:44 Queens Park Savannah on August 3rd but the question is how did the rumors
00:48 start? The rumors about great race being cancelled is a simple mix-up between great
00:53 FET and great race. Great FET which stemmed from the original great race
00:58 weekend was cancelled this year but great race is still on. The TTPBA members have
01:04 often spoken about wanting foreigners to participate in the great race. It's yet
01:08 to happen but Tordier is hoping one day that it comes to pass regardless of
01:12 where the participants are from. Anybody, anybody. It could be the United States we
01:17 have other boats that you know contacted us from as much as Turks and Caicos you
01:22 know Grenada so it's not just the United States it's of the Caribbean, Puerto Rico
01:27 which is part of the US and so whoever if somebody wants to bring a boat from
01:31 the UK to race they're more than welcome. One thing Tordier expects at this year's
01:35 great race event is more boats. Vinod Nawani, TV6 Port
