00:00 Heaps and heaps of rubbish left behind by visitors to the Coral River.
00:07 All departments from the Tinapuna Pier Corporation are here today and we are cleaning up from top straight down to the bottom.
00:20 The area is very nasty as you have seen and I think that there is a call for people at Trinidad and Tobago to really,
00:28 you know, come out to the river, try and put your stuff in a bag and clean it up, you know, because this shouldn't be happening.
00:36 But we are responsible and we have taken our responsibility very seriously.
00:42 Members of various departments throughout the Tinapuna Pier Corporation undertook the cleanup exercise as a staff initiative
00:50 and say they intend to continue the goodwill.
00:54 We have maintained a skeleton staff at the office to ensure that we are still able to service the needs of our budgets that come into the office today
01:01 while we are doing this community impact project and we intend to replicate this initiative throughout all of the electoral districts in our region,
01:07 16 spanning from Mount Hope in the west to Blanche's Shares in the north and all the way to the banks of the Kareni River in the south.
01:13 While there were few visitors to the river earlier today, Chairman of the Tinapuna Pier Regional Corporation, Josiah Austin,
01:20 says people continue to frequent the river daily in spite of the decreased volume.
01:26 He also shared future plans for the area.
01:29 We've recognized that the levels, the water levels are really low at this time, but it's something that fluctuates from time to time.
01:38 But still, we still have scores of persons from all parts of the country coming here on a Monday and different parts of the week.
01:47 We have plans to light the area, right? So we're partnering with several private bodies to light the area and also put some cameras.
01:56 We have more patrols. We've just gotten two unmarked police vehicles and we'll utilize this in and around the Tinapuna area.
02:05 This area is one of the areas highlighted to continue that exercise.
02:09 The corporation says it will be increasing the frequency of visits of litter wardens to engender more responsible behavior.
02:17 Keep your hands clean!
