00:03 - For those people who have never been to Vegas,
00:04 let's be honest, some people never have.
00:06 They may think, oh, you know, I'll just bet on my mobile app.
00:09 I'll go to one of the hotels and do it.
00:11 But it is completely different the way that Las Vegas
00:14 operates the sports books in person, really easy.
00:16 You go down, you place a bet.
00:18 If you wanna do it outside of the window, as we would say,
00:21 little bit more complicated.
00:23 Tell us more.
00:24 - Yeah, you know what?
00:25 We're in this scenario now where you have like 38 states
00:28 with legal sports betting,
00:30 20 something with online sports betting.
00:32 You would think if it's gonna be easy to bet anywhere,
00:34 it would be Las Vegas, Sin City,
00:36 basically where it all started.
00:38 But for those that are traveling to the big game
00:40 or already in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl,
00:42 coming from out of town,
00:43 when you land in Harry Reid Airport
00:45 and try to look at the odds on BetMGM or Caesars
00:48 or another app, you might be kind of surprised
00:51 to find out that it's gonna say, hey, you're not signed up.
00:54 You need to create an account.
00:56 And you're like, wait, I thought I was already signed up
00:57 in another state, what's all this?
00:59 So there's actually an arcane rule in Las Vegas
01:03 that before you try to bet at the Super Bowl or anything,
01:06 you have to go to a casino and register in person
01:09 with one of the affiliated casinos.
01:11 So if it's, you know, and if you're trying to use BetMGM,
01:14 you go to the MGM Grand or the Cosmopolitan,
01:17 one of the casinos that's affiliated with it,
01:19 it's basically this old law that was designed
01:21 to kind of increase foot traffic.
01:23 A lot of older casinos, smaller casinos
01:26 have lobbied to keep it.
01:28 The larger operators obviously wanna do away with it,
01:30 but it also means that apps like DraftKings and FanDuel
01:33 won't be accessible either.
01:34 So you kind of have to have a game plan.
01:35 If you have a lot of money in either of those accounts,
01:38 take those out, maybe move that over to one of the,
01:41 I believe it's about 13 apps that are okay in Nevada.
01:45 So look those up.
01:46 We have an article on LegalSportSupport
01:47 talking about that as well.
01:49 And I'm also told that, you know,
01:51 they're expecting a lot of foot traffic in Vegas, obviously.
01:54 So there should be a ton of people at the casinos,
01:57 at the, you know, the signup windows,
01:59 trying to fill out paperwork, MGM and Caesars.
02:02 Both say that they have extra staff on hand
02:04 to kind of deal with the influx of new people.
02:07 But it is just pretty interesting, you know,
02:09 going, having the Super Bowl in Vegas,
02:11 and it's not really being talked about that much.
02:13 You're seeing all these advertisements and everything.
02:15 There is this kind of weird rule that you still have
02:17 that could prevent some people.
02:18 I bet at the stadium, they'll be opening up their apps
02:21 and trying to live bet next touchdown
02:22 or next play or something like that.
02:24 I'm like, wait, I can't do that.
02:26 That's so weird.
02:26 So, yes, I'm gonna look out for if you're in Vegas
02:29 for the big game.
02:30 But despite that, you know,
02:31 we still expect Nevada to smash their handle record
02:35 for the Super Bowl.
02:36 They've led every state in Super Bowl betting
02:38 for pretty much every year.
02:40 And this year, already reports are that they're about 40%
02:43 ahead of schedule.
02:44 So even with this weird signup rule,
02:47 still expecting a lot of betting on the big game
02:49 in the place that's hosting the big game.
