00:00So my favorite one was 17-year-old Joseph Contreras,
00:04a freaking high school senior,
00:06came up in a bases-loaded spot against Aaron Judge
00:09and got him to ground into a double play,
00:12showcasing a 97, 98-mile-an-hour fastball
00:15with this Vulcan change-up.
00:18And I'm thinking to myself,
00:2117, 17-years-old high school senior?
00:27And he's going up against that lineup?
00:30And looking composed while doing it?
00:32He's supposed to be potentially drafted in the upcoming draft.
00:36The thing is, he has to finish his high school senior season.
00:39But right now, while everyone else is going to geometry,
00:44he's pitching in the World Baseball Classic against Team USA.
00:49I have a bunch.
00:51That was the coolest thing.
00:52Like, I'm smiling from ear to ear,
00:55just thinking about where I was at 17-years-old.
00:58And trying my best to contextualize how nervous I would be in the moment.
01:05He looked fine.
01:06He looked totally cool.
01:08It was cool because the Joseph Contreras conversation allowed me to walk down memory lane with Jose Contreras.
01:14And I was in the Marlon Clubhouse the other day, and we were talking about Joseph Contreras.
01:18And I was like, do you remember that rotation from the 05 White Sox?
01:21Because that was the team of my childhood.
01:23And Jose Contreras factored into the 2005 Chicago White Sox.
01:27Before Joseph was even born, I was watching Jose Contreras get the highest leverage outs imaginable.
01:34Mark Burley, John Garland, Jose Contreras, Freddy Garcia, Esteban Loaiza.
01:39He created the runway for these guys.
01:41He wasn't part of it.
01:42But Jose Contreras, a huge part of my childhood.
01:45So I really appreciate you on that front.
01:47And it's crazy to watch his kid do it.
