00:00You're with Cam Young today. That's one guy I want to talk about. He's now got a T7 at the
00:05Genesis Invitational and a T3 this week, the API. So games trending.
00:08Luvig Oberg, a guy who hit it great this week, maybe missing putts coming down the stretch, was tinkering with
00:14the mallet early in the week, which is, you know, I love that.
00:17And then Cole Morikawa, which, you know, he is, ball striking is always so good, but looks like he's finding
00:22some confidence on the green.
00:23So just want to get your thoughts on those three guys and their performances this week.
00:27I like all three of these players, man, heading into major season and heading into next week.
00:32I think any one of these three players can win at the players and they think they all are capable
00:37of winning a major.
00:38I love how Ludwig and Cam Young are driving the golf ball, especially Cam Young.
00:43My goodness, man, the exhibition I got to witness today off the tee was as point and shoot as I've
00:48ever witnessed with the length and accuracy that he displayed.
00:52He was first strokes gain at 7.3.
00:56The next best was 4.5.
00:59So like three shots are three strokes gain better than the next next guy.
01:04Now, I will say that his wedge game really let let him down today.
01:08He had he had seven gap wedges or less today on Sunday from the fairway through the first 13 holes
01:15and hit one inside of 10 feet like he legitimately could have gotten himself right inside the mix, like heading
01:21into that big stretch and three putt at 16.
01:25And he lost by three strokes.
01:28And I could have found so many opportunities for him today to where he could have been in that playoff
01:32and even won the tournament outright.
01:34Do you think with I remember when he was on the show and he was talking about the golf ball
01:37change and how that kind of made yards is different or more simple for him?
01:41Maybe I a week like this where the green firmness is, you know, you get the rain.
01:46It's super crispy.
01:47Like, do you think that that's a variable that makes it hard for a player like Cam Young on the
01:51weekend?
01:51I think it made it a little more challenging for the guys.
01:54The wind was down today.
01:56So I think a little bit less excuses not making the adjustment, but I think the fairways were a little
02:00bit softer.
02:01Like he was taking Mongo dibs, man, like catfish divots.
02:05Like I was going to get these things and I'm like, man, he's getting like he's he was smashing his
02:09wedges and he just yeah, he just yeah, like they look good in the air.
02:15But for the most part, like they were either just a little bit left, just a little bit right or
02:20just a little bit short or wrong and just never quite had it like perfect, you know, for a day
02:25where the wind didn't blow quite as hard.
02:27I thought he missed some opportunities and very well could have put himself right there.
02:31But Ludwig, I think he'll look back on Saturday's round.
02:35I think I texted you guys if Ludwig's going to win the Masters and then proceeded to go miss two
02:42and a half footer at three for birdie, miss five footer for birdie at four and then miss a five
02:49footer at or six footer for part five and then missed a another five footer for par at six.
02:57And I was like, well, that kind of backfired quick, a little bit of a jinx.
03:03So apologies for that Ludwig, but there was a mouth time.
03:06Is it? No, no, I like the way he's putting it.
03:08It just sometimes you can just get so defensive out there when you just get a little spooked on some
03:13pots and he just hit some.
03:17I think when you leave this week, you can hit plenty of good pots that that feel like, oh, man,
03:22just can't believe that I go in.
03:24But I think the rain helped a ton because there was zero friction.
03:29Like you put your club down, wouldn't say.
03:31But I think the rain kind of stood the grass up a little bit more, made there be a little
03:35bit more friction where the golf balls would hold their line a little bit more on the putting green.
03:39So unfortunately for for Ludwig, you know, the stretch of holes I'm talking about was just right before the rain
03:46lay.
03:47The wind was kind of blowing in and it was tough to putt.
03:50And he unfortunately had, you know, four putts in a row inside of eight feet that he missed and he
03:55lost the turnover by three shots.
03:57So like you just kind of look at a tournament.
03:59Sometimes you're like, oh, you know, he did a lot of great things.
04:02And, you know, there's just sometimes a 30 minute stretch that can lose you the golf tournament.
04:07And unfortunately for Ludwig, it feels like like he played plenty good enough across the board.
04:12Like Iron Game was awesome.
04:14Like I was so encouraged by what I saw with this Iron Game.
04:17He putted well at times, like drove it so well, so accurate.
