00:00 The Niners were a -180 NFC Championship favorite entering this division around before they even
00:09 played a single postseason game. So the Niners being in that NFC Championship game and a six
00:15 and a half point favorite against Detroit should come as no surprise. But Donnie, it was anything
00:21 but easy for those 49ers on Saturday night. They do win 24-21 against the Green Bay Packers.
00:29 That's five consecutive playoff wins against Green Bay. Matt LeFleur falls to 0-3 all-time
00:35 against Kyle Shanahan, his former colleague, when they have reached the playoff run. But again,
00:41 anything but easy. It was San Francisco down 21-17 when they got the ball back with six minutes
00:48 and 18 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Brock Purdy leads a 12-play, 69-yard drive that
00:54 took just over five minutes and Christian McCaffrey finds the end zone for a second
00:59 time in that game with just a minute and seven seconds left. Jordan Love, who was sensational,
01:04 throws a bad interception as the Packers were trying to put together a come-from-behind drive.
01:10 San Francisco into an NFC Championship game for the fourth time in the last five seasons,
01:16 winning 24-21. Green Bay does cover though as a nine and a half point underdog.
01:22 And sometimes just take a look and say we can't trust our kickers sometimes in the biggest
01:26 moments. The Buffalo Bills have a very good kicker and again in the biggest moment you
01:30 couldn't trust them with a missed field goal. I'm not saying that's why they lost that football
01:33 game. There's a lot more plays than a missed field goal. But you center right around the
01:36 Green Bay Packers where they were having the drive they needed to put that final nail in the
01:41 coffin for the 49ers. They get all the way downfield, a 41-yard field goal wide to the
01:46 left to your miss, which gave that life back into the stadium, back in that offense. Michael goes,
01:50 "You know what? Now we can drive down and get a touchdown and win this game." You still have to
01:54 do that. Brock Purdy wasn't great all night long. And by the way, that loss to Devo Samuel early in
01:58 the game really hurt that offense. But who did you lean on? Christian McCaffrey, 17 carries,
02:03 98 yards and two touchdowns. And also Christian McCaffrey, 12 targets out of the backfield. I
02:08 don't think he was feeling the effects of that calf injury late in the season. But when you needed
02:12 Brock Purdy, he absolutely delivered, which included a massive red zone run here to put
02:16 them closer and closer to scoring a touchdown here. You sort of felt bad for the Green Bay
02:21 Packers because from my vantage point in this game, they were the better team for the majority
02:25 of the game, but they just couldn't close the door. And you saw Jordan Love on that final drive.
02:30 You had all of your timeouts, a minute to play. You didn't need a touchdown. You just needed a
02:33 field goal. Your only job as quarterback is to get your guys in position to kick a field goal,
02:38 get it around midfield here. You can't force throws. And sometimes defensive backs and line
02:42 bakers just make great plays here out on the field. That wasn't the case. It was a terrible
02:47 desperation pass that you didn't need over the middle that got intercepted and away the 49ers
02:52 go into the NFC Championship game. But the sign of a true champion is even when you don't bring
02:56 your A game like Brock Purdy didn't have, show up in the biggest moments. And Brock Purdy absolutely
03:01 been did that.
03:02 (upbeat music)
03:05 (bells chiming)
