00:03 I wanna switch coast here at this point and go to Seattle.
00:05 We weren't hearing any rumors about Pete Carroll stepping down or
00:08 being fired as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks.
00:10 And Adam, even earlier in the week, Pete Carroll came out and goes, yeah,
00:13 I'm coming back next season.
00:14 Only for 24 hours later for him to be let go as the head coach.
00:18 Were there rumblings?
00:19 Did they have their eye on somebody?
00:20 But what went into that Pete Carroll decision where he would step away and
00:23 move into the front office for the Seahawks?
00:26 >> Yeah, Donnie, and there was no succession plan.
00:28 Though I've always felt that Dan Quinn would be that guy if Pete retired,
00:33 which he didn't wanna do, by the way, in what you're talking about.
00:36 Carroll definitely made it clear on Monday,
00:37 the day after their final game of the regular season when they were eliminated
00:40 from the playoffs, made it clear he wanted to be the head coach he expected to be.
00:44 But in all his talks with Jody Allen, who's the chair of the team, aka the owner,
00:49 he never got the indication that he wouldn't be.
00:51 So at 72 years old, he's now gonna be an advisor.
00:54 I put Dan Quinn up there, Shane Waldron,
00:57 who's the offense coordinator of the Seahawks.
00:58 Now he can interview because they're out of the playoffs.
01:01 And there are teams, as I understand, they're interested in talking to him.
01:04 But Dan Quinn's a guy they know,
01:06 they wanna shoot ball with him as a defensive coordinator.
01:07 He wants to be head coach, talking to people close to him.
01:09 He kinda stepped away from other opportunities.
01:13 They bumped up his pay once again in Dallas.
01:15 But he is the top defensive coordinator candidate.
01:17 Raheem Maher's probably second.
01:19 Ben Johnson is the top guy overall, by the way, of the Lions.
01:22 Now he cannot interview with anyone right now until after the divisional round.
01:27 He can't do that.
01:28 The earliest he could start interviewing would be Monday, the 22nd.
01:31 And we wanna clear this up.
01:33 All coaches that are still in the playoffs cannot interview in person
01:36 until the 22nd at the earliest.
