00:00You have seen a lot of college hoops through the years, and so have I.
00:04I got to put the finish of UConn-Duke up there.
00:06Maybe, I don't know, got to be top five or top ten all time for me watching that play out.
00:10UConn wins, and they win the East Region.
00:14And the big question is, did Duke give this away?
00:16Did UConn win it?
00:17I mean, it's fair to say at this point that that play and finish at the end, Mike, is going
00:22to go down in history as one of the most memorable.
00:25Oh, no doubt.
00:25The finish was unbelievable.
00:27What actually happened at the end for UConn to be able to win the game was amazing.
00:32And I think not just the Braylon Mullins play, but also Silas Demery fighting through his injury to make the
00:39two big threes.
00:40Alex Caravan, after a really difficult day, breaking through with that three-pointer that he made.
00:46And so a lot of those components went into it.
00:49They had to put themselves into position.
00:51But on the balance of giveaway, takeaway, I think you have to come down on the balance to the giveaway
00:59side because there were so many mistakes that were made in a very short period of time by Duke that
01:07could have been avoided.
01:09And a lot of them came down to those final six or seven seconds, Caden Boozer's decision-making in that
01:17window.
01:17And, of course, the most obvious is the pass, the deflected pass by Demery that winds up in Mullins' hands.
01:25But I keep coming back to the fact that after making that error, instead of saying, okay, I messed up,
01:33I got to make sure Mullins doesn't get a good shot here, Caden Boozer inexplicably retreated to guard the lane
01:41as if there were going to be time for a low post pass or something in a layup.
01:47There was no time.
01:49All he had to do was stay in that play and what ends up happening.
01:52Remember, Mullins passed it to Alex Carabin on the right wing.
01:56Carabin was covered by Cameron Boozer.
01:59So he sees, I don't have a shot here.
02:02But Mullins was wide open because Caden vacated the space.
02:06If Caden stays in that play there, then it's, okay, do I throw this up or does he throw this
02:12up?
02:12And neither one gets a good shot.
02:14So I keep falling down to that as maybe even more consequential than the decision to throw the pass.
