00:00Today's top spread lines here on a Tuesday right here on the early line.
00:03It's Donnie Wright's side, and it's Joe Renier.
00:05We talked about, like, stop tanking in the NBA.
00:07Now, we're going to get to the Suns' magic game,
00:08but did you know there's a game out here tonight where the Charlotte Hornets
00:11are on the road, Joe, as a favorite of some outlets of 17 and a half points?
00:16Yeah, that's out there in these streets.
00:18But as we get to some of the hottest topics here, Suns and the Magic, Joe,
00:22it's a hometown team here for the Magics, or home team, a home game, I should say.
00:26Minus three overnight.
00:27Now we're seeing the outlets here showing up at minus two,
00:29and a total of 225 and a half.
00:32Suns on the road to take on the Orlando Magic, Joe, 7 p.m. start.
00:35What's your spread line here?
00:37Well, you've got, it's interesting, Donnie.
00:39There's a lot of games on the board here tonight that had big-time play-in potential
00:44and ramifications, right?
00:46I mean, Orlando now with Miami winning last night
00:49and them getting absolutely destroyed by Toronto the other night.
00:53They're in a virtual dead heat here with Miami, no pun intended there,
00:57for the number eight seed.
00:59So this is a big game for Orlando.
01:02And the same thing with Phoenix, who's coming off a win last night,
01:05easy win last night against the Memphis Grizzlies.
01:08But they're kind of occupying that number seven seed,
01:12and there are only a handful of games behind Houston for the number six seed.
01:16So, you know, this is a big game for both of these teams.
01:19But I think it's telling, Donnie, that here you've got a team coming off the second night
01:23of a back-to-back with travel, coming to Orlando, who had off last night,
01:28and the market is not adjusting towards the Orlando Magic at all.
01:32If anything, the money is coming in on Phoenix, and I think that tells you,
01:36I think the market is a little bit tired of Orlando throwing up all over themselves.
01:42Yes, they are.
01:43An 8 o'clock start tonight.
01:44We're going to head to Detroit, and that is the Raptors taking on the Detroit Pistons.
01:47Not a far travel distance between these two here.
01:49This line opened up overnight, Joe.
01:52Minus two and a half.
01:54And now we see 13 and a half, which, by the way, is not correct here.
01:57I still have two and a half.
01:57Am I wrong on this?
01:58Is that, is your line, Joe, show 13 and a half for the Pistons tonight?
02:01Because I'm showing two and a half right now.
02:03Is my line broken right now?
02:05What happened?
02:06No, no, it was six.
02:07It is now two.
02:08But it's once again, Donnie, all about, listen, Detroit played nobody last night.
02:13They sat everybody last night against OKC.
02:17They did cover the spread.
02:18They are actually way more competitive than I thought they were going to be.
02:21But nobody knows who's playing for Detroit again here tonight, and it may be nobody.
02:26Detroit looks like they are more than happy, especially with Boston losing last night.
02:31They are more than happy.
02:32They got a four-game lead with that number one spot, and it looks like they're not going
02:37to be taking any chances down the stretch here before the postseason with any of their
02:41starters.
02:41Now, Toronto occupies the fifth seed, Donnie, but they've got Atlanta just one game behind
02:48them, and Philadelphia is only one game behind us.
02:51So, you know, before we know it, Toronto could go from the fifth seed, if they're not careful,
02:56to the play-in tournament, Donnie.
02:58That's how close it is in the East.
03:00So this is a huge game for Toronto.
03:03The problem is, OK, you can beat Orlando by 50-plus points.
03:10Something tells me we might get a player or a starter or two back for Detroit in this
03:14game.
03:15Let's see what happens then.
03:17Ah, the almighty 11 o'clock game tonight that nobody on the East Coast will be able
03:21to watch, but it will happen.
03:22It's the Portland Trailblazers.
03:23By the way, recently sold as well.
03:25Take you on the Los Angeles Clippers.
03:27Overnight, this line was sitting at around a minus five.
03:29You see the increase there on the graphic to minus five and a half across the board.
03:32Even some sixes, Joe, starting to show up here.
03:36226 and a half is the total.
03:37This one Trailblazers on the road to take on the Clippers.
03:39What's your spread line here?
03:41Huge game, Donnie.
03:43Why?
03:43Because, well, look at the standings.
03:45Currently, the eighth seed, the Clippers.
03:48And by the way, them just being the eighth seed is amazing with how they started the season.
03:52But Portland's only a game behind them as the ninth seed.
03:55So, again, this matters here.
03:57A lot for seeding here with the play-in tournament.
04:00But the Clippers have been the better team here for a while now.
04:05A new revamped Clippers team.
04:07Keep an eye on Kawhi Leonard's status to list it as questionable.
04:10But Portland has been pretty good here.
04:12But it looks like the Clippers laying more than a couple of buckets here.
04:16If you think, if Kawhi goes, I'm in on the Clippers.
04:19Let's put it that way.
04:21Some NBA news and notes this morning here.
04:23And some of the big news that came out yesterday was the Chicago Bulls waving guard Jaden Ivey
04:28after his recent anti-LGBTQ comments amid several rants on religion and other topics sources tell ESPN.
04:34That was a tweet from Sham Sharani yesterday here.
04:37Ivey out of the league.
04:38And the one thing that they're going to tell you about this, Joe, is right or wrong,
04:42you can't mess with the dollars.
04:43And they're always going to look at that first, Joe.
04:45So they're going to weigh the scale, right?
04:47Okay, domestic violence here, a speeding ticket here, going against a certain section
04:52that might be paying ticket members here.
04:55They're always going to side with the paying ticket members here.
04:58You want to keep that boat rising up here, Joe.
05:01Jaden Ivey's out here.
05:02Can't make those comments.
05:04Yeah, I mean, listen, it's going to get, I think it's going to get uglier before anything else here.
05:11But the reality is he wasn't, he was hurt.
05:14Don't forget, they traded for him, you know, during the season.
05:17He only played a handful of games.
05:19Then he ends up getting hurt.
05:20He's been hurt his entire career, which is kind of a shame because I really thought that he could make,
05:25he could be a difference maker, certainly on that Detroit team.
05:28But, you know, they traded for him.
05:31It's, you know, and if you're not available and you're going to be a distraction,
05:35you know, you got to pick and choose your spots, right, Donnie?
05:38Nobody's saying you can't have your opinion, but at the same time,
05:42you can't be a distraction and not adding anything to the team.
05:46Just to put it in NFL superstar terms and Jimmy Johnson back in the day,
05:50hey, if Emmitt Smith falls asleep, I'm going to get him a pillow here in the meetings here.
05:54If the backup to the backup guard falls asleep, I'm going to make an example out of that guy.
05:58And nobody's allowed to sleep in here.
06:00So understand what's happening at this point, because I tell you right now,
06:03if we're looking at, okay, Victor Webin-Yama might have slipped up on camera here at this point.
06:08Hey, look, we're going to get him some help here.
06:09We're going to do some things.
06:10We're going to find him some money.
06:11And he's going to be back in the starting lineup next Tuesday night.
06:13Not the case here for a player that's not helping the team.
06:16Technically, it's a lot easier to dispose of that person here.
06:19How about Zion?
06:20The one thing we do know, he was an electric superstar,
06:22supposed to save the New Orleans Pelicans.
06:24But how about this?
06:25Zion Williamson is one of two first overall picks,
06:28or one of two first overall picks, I should say,
06:30from 80 to 2023, to never play in a playoff game.
06:34He's in his seventh year.
06:36Everybody makes the playoffs in the NBA.
06:38Wow.
06:39Yeah, he was, you know, don't forget,
06:42he was supposed to be the heir apparent to being the face of the NBA for LeBron.
06:46But, you know, another guy couldn't stay healthy,
06:49had all sorts of foot problems.
06:51And it's a shame, Donnie, because that entire team,
06:53New Orleans, was hurt this year.
06:55They do have some players, and we've kind of seen that down the stretch here.
06:59But he's played in more games than I think he has in his entire career this season.
07:03So maybe it's a step in the right direction.
07:06Maybe he'll get to the postseason sooner rather than later.
07:10Buying teams in the NBA, buying teams in professional sports,
07:13you better come up with some scratch here.
07:15From Yahoo Sports yesterday, the NBA Board of Governors approves
07:17the sale of the Portland Trailblazers to investor group led by Tom Dundon,
07:22who will serve as the team's governor.
07:24And also, the transaction is expected to close next week.
07:27A lot of money to buy that team.
07:28And the only question now is, yeah, I bought this team.
07:31I want a new arena.
07:32If not, I'm going to try to move this team elsewhere.
07:36Yeah.
07:37Where have we heard this before?
07:39Oh, yeah.
07:39It's the playbook, Donnie.
07:41We get it all the time.
07:42Nobody needs to be surprised about any of this.
07:45It's about the almighty dollar.
07:48And the owners who have all the billions don't want to have to pay for anything.
07:52It's kind of funny like that, isn't it?
07:54It certainly is kind of funny like that.
07:56Stepping over to the NBA, talking about the coaches here.
07:58How about Joe Mazzoula?
07:59Talking about maybe being a coach of the year here.
08:01How about that?
08:03Hey, you're a lot of people's pick this year for coach of the year.
08:07I was wondering what winning that award would mean to you.
08:10And if there's anything in particular that you've taken pride in accomplishing from a
08:13coaching perspective this year.
08:17However, there's a way to make sure that the staff and the players, you know, get the appreciation.
08:23You know, don't need it.
08:25I think it's a stupid award.
08:27They shouldn't have it.
08:28And it's more about the players.
08:29It's more about the work that the staff puts in.
08:32It's just that simple.
08:33I really don't ever want to be asked or talked about it again.
08:37And it's just that dumb.
08:38So, the players play.
08:39It's about them.
08:40The staff works their ass off.
08:41I'm grateful to have them.
08:43He always has some interesting comments.
08:45And you like to hear him talk.
08:46And this is also coming off fresh off a double-digit loss to the Hawks.
08:48Your boy, Donnie Wright, I told you nobody wanted him.
08:50But I wanted him.
08:51And they won outright in that game fairly easily.
08:53But also understand this, Joe.
08:55He's not the favorite, actually, to win coach of the year.
08:57It's J.B. Bickerstaff of the Pistons at a minus 310 price.
09:01Also more in that postgame.
09:03Yeah, postgame press conference with the Hawks, 112-102 winners.
09:06Let's check it out.
09:07I remember when we were in Boston last, we talked about you guys controlling what you can control.
09:11How do you feel like you guys were able to execute that tonight?
09:14I think we just put together a good 48 minutes.
09:18I think that led us to continue to build, get stops, and continue to do what we've been doing.
09:26So, I think we did a great job of just playing our game, playing the way we want to play.
09:30And it resulted in the win.
09:32Yeah, I mean, I give credit to Atlanta.
09:36But that was probably one of my worst games of the season, in my opinion.
09:42How much of it was then?
09:44I missed a lot of easy shots.
09:46But it was a very physical game.
09:48Playoff-like atmosphere.
09:50And I don't think we adjusted quick enough.
09:52They came to play.
09:54The reps let the right stuff go.
09:55We didn't adjust to the physicality.
09:56But so, you know, a good game to learn from.
10:00How about that?
10:01A little post-game press conference.
10:02They're getting some coaches, getting some players.
10:04But more importantly, Joe, we got the win last night with Atlanta at home by double digits over those Cs.
10:10So, Jalen Brown drops 29-10-9, and he's complaining, like, I didn't play well enough.
10:16Like, we didn't, like, I, what do you, listen, you're going to see this team likely in the post-C.
10:22You just beat them four days ago, Donnie, in your own building, and you only beat them by seven, 109
10:28-102.
10:29So, you know, this kind of felt like it was going to be a pretty even situation here.
10:34Listen, Atlanta, you know, Quinn Schneider has taken a lot of abuse over the last couple of years here, Donnie.
10:41But he's got the right, it's amazing.
10:44You get rid of Trey Young, and all of a sudden, you got guys that actually want to play defense,
10:48and you start winning some games.
10:50And now, all of a sudden, Atlanta is exactly where they should be in the postseason with an opportunity to
10:57make some noise.
10:58We always talk about ratings, Joe.
11:00And ratings are what drives your product and allows you to spend more money on your salary cap, and everybody
11:05makes more money.
11:06We always saw the NBA.
11:07It's like, hey, you know, we've got to cut a million dollars off the salary cap because we're not getting
11:10the ratings that we like.
11:11So, the NBA has introduced this year 11 o'clock Eastern basketball games that nobody on the East Coast will
11:17be able to watch at this point.
11:18And that comes in with the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Clippers, a five-and-a-half point
11:22spread for the Clippers here,
11:24going up against those Blazers.
11:25But, Joe, the NBA only cares about one thing, not making money, apparently, now.
11:30Is that correct?
11:31That's – I think that's about correct here, which is why Major League Baseball has done such an amazing job
11:38and has now overtaken them pretty much in ratings across the board.
11:42But this is nonetheless, Andy, this is a big game here for both of these teams who are potentially going
11:49to play each other in the play-in game.
11:51So, you know, there's only a game separating just about everybody there in the Western Conference on the play-in
11:59side.
11:59So, you know, give the Clippers credit.
12:02Five-game winning streak that they're riding into this game at home.
12:07This has got big implications here for both these teams tonight.
12:11Only nobody outside of the Western time zone is going to be able to watch it.
12:16Yeah, you know, we can watch an 8 p.m. Eastern game, which is what the New York Knicks are
12:20going to be playing against those Houston Rockets down in Texas.
12:23This line opened up as a minus-one-point favorite here for the Knicks.
12:26And most outlets, Joe, still showing a slight favorite here for the New York Knicks.
12:29And a low total, 217.5 now at most places as well.
12:32Knicks Rockets in H-Town tonight.
12:36Yeah, you know, listen, the Knicks lost to OKC, but the Knicks can never beat OKC, so we know this.
12:43Houston finally, you know, covered a game there and handled business against New Orleans the other night.
12:50Now they find themselves at, what, a pick-em price here, Donnie, which I think is interesting.
12:55I mean, Houston, for the most part, kind of locked into their spot.
12:59Not a lot here on the line down the stretch, but I think this is a good litmus test for
13:05both these teams heading into the postseason.
13:08Can the Knicks actually beat a top contender from the West?
13:11We're going to find out.
13:13Cavaliers on the road.
13:14Eastern Conference taking on the Los Angeles Lakers.
13:16Western Conference.
13:17This game is going to tip off at 10.30 p.m. Eastern.
13:20Joe, slight favorite to the Lakers here.
13:21Minus two and a total of 237.5.
13:24Any angles here for you tonight?
13:27Second of a back-to-back, right?
13:28Is what we got.
13:30Something tells me we might be expecting points tonight in this game.
13:35That's the NBA, people.
13:37More hot topics on the way.
13:38And even in hour number two, an appearance by Kevin Walsh of Game Time Decisions.
13:41We got it going on.
13:42Come on back.
13:43GTD going to be popping tonight here, even in the NBA, Joe.
13:46Or I should say, Kevin.
13:47The Knicks and the Rockets tonight.
13:50Close line here.
13:50Minus one is a favorite for the Knicks on the road.
13:52KD and the boys at home.
13:53What's going on in H-Town tonight?
13:55Yeah, you know, it's interesting.
13:56I feel like the three of us have talked a little bit about just the vibes in Houston.
14:01And this is the team that people are going to want to pick on in the West.
14:05The books are telling you they completely agree.
14:08It's not that the Knicks are bad.
14:09But the Knicks showing up as a road favorite is hardly a given, considering the Knicks very
14:15recently went to Charlotte, booked as underdogs.
14:18And I know how good Charlotte is, but it tells the story on the Rockets, even if they're
14:23a little tempting tonight at a plus price.
14:25Yeah, it's Kevin.
14:25Game Time Decisions.
14:26Catch them tonight on the network, 6 to 7 p.m.
14:28And you can wait for the next segment here.
14:30The best NBA handicapper on the planet.
14:33It's true.
14:40Best bets, Joe.
14:42Where are we going tonight?
14:42A lot of opportunities here.
14:44You hit with the Kansas City rules yesterday.
14:46Who might it be today?
14:48Well, I think we're going to head back to the association here tonight, Donnie.
14:54Because, listen, Luka suspended last night because of his 16th technical, didn't play,
15:00but they didn't need them to play at home against the tanking Washington Wizards.
15:06You know, you got LeBron getting a triple-double, no problem there.
15:10But now they got the Cavs coming to town tonight.
15:13Luka back on the court for them.
15:16And the Cavs had to play an altitude in Utah last night.
15:19It was actually a lot closer than people thought it was going to be.
15:24So, you know, them traveling now last night, coming from altitude,
15:28having to take on a Luka Doncic team that is rolling.
15:32I think it's a bad spot for the Cavs.
15:35Love the spot for the Lakers.
15:37I think Luka has a monster night here tonight.
15:39The Lakers winning cover.
15:42The Lakers here.
15:43We'll see if they can hang on and win that game by two-plus points here
15:46and cash in that ticket for me, Joe.
15:47Oh, I'm going to the Toronto Raptors and the Detroit Pistons.
15:50Last night I told you, whoa, you're going against the Celtics?
15:53We're all backing the Celtics here.
15:55Like 20% of the tickets were coming in on Atlanta.
15:57Atlanta hammered the Celtics by double digits last night.
16:00Now I'm taking a Raptors team that's going to be on the road
16:02against the Detroit Pistons, getting two and a half points.
16:05I said, Donnie, why do you like this game?
16:06That's nothing to do with matchups at this point.
16:09Everybody's backing the Pistons to the tune of 70% of the tickets
16:12coming in early on those Pistons.
16:14That line's not moving.
16:16Nobody, Joe, wants to take the Toronto Raptors tonight.
16:19Nobody!
16:20Except your boy DRS.
16:21He's taking them with the two and a half points,
16:23and we're looking for a sweep in the association tonight.
16:26How about that?
16:28Let's get it going here, Donnie.
16:30At least there's a few games that don't have, you know,
16:33three touchdown spreads here, Donnie, tonight in the NBA.
16:37I got a prediction that we go 2-0 tonight.
16:39You know what else you got?
16:40Prediction markets edge on the early line.
16:43Coming up next.
16:45You know what time it is.
16:47Prediction markets edge right here on the early line.
16:50It's Donnie Wrightside, and it's Joe Renier.
16:52We got you covered on all the latest ways to invest your money,
16:55even if you don't think some of those options are out here, Joe.
16:57We like to teach the people there are better ways sometimes to invest your money, right?
17:03Always options, Donnie.
17:05And that's what the prediction markets give you is options and leverage outside of what you're usually used to betting
17:13on.
17:14Absolutely.
17:15And we start today, Joe, in the association.
17:17It's Phoenix heading east to take on the Orlando Magic.
17:21If you look at the Calci marketplace right now, Orlando currently with a 52% chance to win this basketball
17:26game outright.
17:27And Phoenix, the underdog, currently at 48%.
17:30If you look at the spread in this one, if Orlando wins by three and a half points or more,
17:35currently trading at 45 cents, Joe,
17:37which means a $100 investment would pay back 223 and the total sitting at 224 and a half.
17:44Phoenix, Orlando, tonight.
17:46Well, you know, Suns coming off a win last night.
17:50Rather easy win, in fact, against the Memphis Grizzlies.
17:54Booker with another monster night, 36 points in that one.
17:59Again, the Suns and Orlando, Eastern Conference, Western Conference,
18:03very much trying to jockey for position in the play-in tournament.
18:08So this is a big game for both of these teams.
18:11But Orlando, over the last month, Donnie, has been absolutely horrific.
18:16They are basically playing themselves into the bottom of the play-in games coming up.
18:22And that's not a good situation.
18:24To get blown out by, what, 50-plus points last game by Toronto is not good here.
18:31I would want to make sure that Booker is playing on the second of a back-to-back,
18:36but there is no reason to think that somehow Orlando is just going to flip a switch
18:41and become this team that all of a sudden is going to be able to boat-raise teams.
18:46I think it's a dead under.
18:48Phoenix plays defense, and Orlando can't score.
18:51So I think the unders are in play here tonight.
18:55If you want to ride with Devin Booker there to go for another 30-point effort tonight, Joe.
18:59$100 investment will pay back $250 there.
19:03Let's keep it in the association.
19:04You know me, Joe.
19:05I just told you.
19:06I like the Toronto squad here taking on the Detroit Pistons here.
19:10Let's go Raptors.
19:11If we're looking at the numbers, Detroit favorite at 56% as a chance to win this basketball game outright.
19:17Toronto at 44%, but if we're looking at the number here and you feel that the Pistons can cover by
19:233.5 or more,
19:25currently trading at $0.47 here.
19:27So a $100 investment would pay back $2.13, and also you can use that slider, Joe, either way.
19:33But tonight, Toronto is a slight underdog against those Detroit Pistons.
19:37Yep.
19:38Brandon Ingram, questionable.
19:39Quigley has already been ruled out.
19:42So is Jameson Battle for Toronto and everybody who missed the game last night, which is just about all the
19:49starters for the Detroit Pistons that are not on the injury report as of yet here, Donnie.
19:55But this line is telling you maybe, just maybe, there's going to be a few more guys that are opting
20:01not to play in this game for Detroit.
20:04It's a huge game for Toronto, much more important for Toronto, who's trying to stay out of the play-in
20:10game, Donnie, tonight, than it is for Detroit,
20:13who's pretty much solidified itself as the number one seed there.
20:17So, yeah, Toronto had themselves a whole lot of points last game against Orlando.
20:23They seem to be shooting it really, really well.
20:26Motivated Toronto team means likely an over, I think, here tonight as well in this game.
20:32And you take a look here if you expect a big game from Scotty Barnes tonight, 20-plus points or
20:36more.
20:37Joe, currently trading at 42 cents here, which means a $100 investment pays back $239.
20:42A game you like tonight, Joe, or maybe you don't because nobody will be up for this one.
20:47The Portland Trailblazers taking on the Los Angeles Clippers out there in Clipper land tonight.
20:51If we're taking a look at some of the options here, Joe, 51% I'm seeing right now as we
20:57are trading for the Clippers as the slight,
21:00excuse me, it looks like the Clippers there is a favorite.
21:02Actually, you know what, Joe?
21:03I'm reading this maybe incorrectly at this point.
21:05This is an interesting one here.
21:06So, I'm going to swing this over to you.
21:08Portland versus the Clippers here.
21:10Go ahead.
21:11Yeah, Portland lane opened up as a five-point dog here in L.A.
21:16The Clippers now have been bet up to around six, and it continues to go that way.
21:22Why?
21:22Well, I'm looking at the Clippers injury report, and it's nonexistent.
21:26So, Kawhi's not on it.
21:27Nobody seems to be on it right now.
21:30But Jeremy Grant has already been ruled out for this game against the Clippers.
21:34This is important because both of these teams are almost in a dead heat for that seven and eight seed
21:40in the play-in tournament,
21:42which is going to be big.
21:43So, five in a row for the Clippers.
21:46Donnie, I don't see any reason to get in front of this Clipper train at home here tonight.
21:50It would be Clippers or nothing for me in this one.
21:53And I would look for Kawhi Leonard to do Kawhi Leonard things maybe over in his points market as well.
22:01Yeah, something's a little bit wonky at this point.
22:03Sometimes they do go a little bit off on Couch because I'm showing, Joe, 51% for the Clippers here
22:08as the favorite,
22:08and also 47% for the Clippers as the underdog in this one.
22:12Go figure that one out.
