think that he can still turn it around and change the approach and come with something
00:08
that shows that you are more suited for being a national leader rather than just being the
00:20
village bhajan.
00:22
Last week, Augustine told media the Tobago House of Assembly will be heading to the court
00:28
to sue central government for $166.4 million, which he said is owed to the THA.
00:37
He said he tried to speak with the finance minister for a long time on this matter, but
00:43
to no avail.
00:44
However, Mr. George disagrees.
00:48
Any sensible attorney who is guiding and advising you would first try to work it through to
00:55
see what's the end game. In other words, are you likely to be successful in the litigation?
01:02
You don't just jump into litigation for the sake of saying, well, you know, I'm going
01:07
to sue you. You always try to work it through. You look at the law. You look at your decided
01:12
cases and authorities. And in this scenario, I would think that it is not an easy path
01:19
to any victory at all.
01:22
George is urging the chief secretary to analyze the situation carefully before moving forward.
01:28
On a separate issue, the attorney also weighs in on the police promotion fiasco, where it
01:33
is claimed some officers were wrongly promoted.
01:37
You know, we always, you know, good at passing the buck and passing blame and, you know,
01:41
shifting responsibility. But if you are there and you are a leader and you are in charge,
01:48
then you have to be able to take responsibility and say, hey, listen, I am going to deal with
01:55
this. I'm going to get this fixed. So I think that you have, you know, the twin pillars
02:00
of responsibility there, both in the police commissioner and I think also in the police
02:06
service commission.
02:07
He says a statement by those parties will go a long way in restoring confidence in their
02:13
function as oversight bodies. Nicole M Romany, TV6 News.
