00:00 According to Corinne Anaya-Clark, she was up reading a book when her mother indicated
00:07 that it was past her bedtime.
00:09 And although she pleaded for an extension of time, her mom said no.
00:14 Corinne tells TV6 News that at that moment, she had an idea to have a pop-up shop for
00:19 authors, which transitioned into the Chronicles of Corinne Children's Book Festival.
00:25 So today we're going to have several musical performances. We're going to have authors
00:30 setting up their booths like me, Mila, Philip Simons and me. There will also be cultural
00:37 displays of many kinds or some prizes that you can win and we also have games.
00:43 The child author began reading at age two and writing at the age of four. She uses reading
00:50 as an inspiration for her writing. Corinne, who is also part of this year's Booker's Lit
00:55 Fest, tells TV6 News about some of her work.
00:58 So there's Chronicles of Corinne, Adventures in Tinkits and Eves. My dad is from Tinkits
01:04 so he visits there all the time. I wrote about some of my adventures in Tinkits. There's
01:09 Chronicles of Corinne, Gratitude Journal and Activity Book, where children can express
01:14 their gratitude while having fun. Chronicles of Corinne, In Memory of My Great Grandmother
01:18 and Tribute to Josie. Bless her soul. It's about my great grandmother, Juanita Jones,
01:25 who is kind of like the family matriarch.
01:30 Corinne says Jones' passing was a major loss to their family. If you're wondering whether
01:36 the young author has a favourite book among her own collection?
01:41 It might be the Chronicles of Corinne, Traditional Carnival, Caracas, or Trinidad and Tobago.
01:44 Wow, I really did think of a shorter name for that. Anyway, that's my favourite because
01:51 it describes our carnival everywhere. It's not just Trinidad that has carnival, it's
01:59 almost all of the countries in the Caribbean. So I like that because it supports people's
02:05 love for carnival wherever they live.
02:08 Alessia Boucher, TV6 News.
02:11 (upbeat music)
