00:22Education Minister Dr. Michael Dowlath says government continues to invest heavily in education,
00:29noting that true wealth of a nation lies in the knowledge, creativity and innovation of its people.
00:35There is a great value of investing in education.
00:41The government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago continues to apportion the largest shares of national expenditure to the
00:50education sector.
00:51This is because we recognize that the true wealth of a nation is not found in its natural resources,
00:59but in the knowledge, creativity and innovation of its people.
01:04He says education has shaped every facet of national development,
01:09producing generations of professionals who continue to build Trinidad and Tobago.
01:14Education has shaped every facet of our nation.
01:17It has enabled generations of professionals, scientists, educators, engineers and entrepreneurs
01:26to emerge from classrooms across Trinidad and Tobago and to contribute meaningfully to our national development.
01:35The minister also emphasized that success in the modern world requires more than academics,
01:41highlighting the need for critical thinking and digital skills.
01:44This is why the government of Trinidad and Tobago continues to invest in ensuring that our students are equipped,
01:51not only with knowledge, but with the digital tools required for success in this modern world.
01:58Students were urged to take full advantage of the laptops provided to them,
02:02using them as tools for innovation and growth.
02:06This place places powerful learning resources directly in the hands of our young people.
02:14And so, all you students, you have been given a platform for exploration and for excellence.
02:21Use it wisely.
02:23Use it to ask questions, to challenge assumptions, to build solutions and to pursue ideas
02:30that could transform not only your lives, but the lives of others.
02:34And in his final message, the minister reminded them that true excellence goes beyond exams
02:41and is rooted in integrity.
02:43I want you to especially remember that excellence is not defined by a single examination result.
02:52It is defined by integrity.
02:56Integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one else is watching.
03:00Of the 200 students honored, 123 are females, no one was identified for special mention.
