00:02 - Do you play pickleball and would you feel like pickleball
00:06 is a competitive sport or is it compatible
00:09 to what you all are trying to accomplish?
00:12 - So I've played pickleball a few times
00:16 and my form of playing pickleball is Sunday morning
00:21 a friend texts us and says, "Pickleball's on."
00:25 And they put lines down on the end of their street
00:27 and I called us out and we set up some tents
00:31 and we just have some good casual fun.
00:36 I personally, this is personal,
00:40 the USDA is working on strategy
00:44 and is pickleball a feeder or a bleeder?
00:48 I tend to be on the positive side.
00:51 I think it's good for the industry,
00:54 our clubs, our commercial clubs, our pros.
00:57 Manufacturers are making rackets,
01:01 we've got more members coming into clubs,
01:04 it's no different than racquetball and squash,
01:06 a derivative of a racket and a ball,
01:09 we find our way to embrace that.
01:11 We're doing some research on if you start off
01:16 playing pickleball, do you graduate
01:18 and then go to the big court?
01:20 Still don't have that research.
01:24 I think kids or adults who come to the pickleball first,
01:29 they're gonna wanna graduate and play on the big court.
01:33 And I think our pros will be encouraging people
01:39 to play tennis and play pickleball.
01:42 So it's here to stay and look at if there's a sport
01:46 that people can go out and be active and social,
01:49 if it's not tennis, then at least it's a derivative
01:52 of a ball and a racket and I think that's a good thing.
