00:00 All right, now sports betting is coming to Kentucky.
00:07 This is clearly the biggest state
00:09 that we'll be watching for sports betting here in '23,
00:12 and a new approval here for a sports betting catalog.
00:16 So let's explain to the folks what that means
00:18 and what it could mean in the future.
00:20 Yeah, sure.
00:21 So first things first, Kentucky, in two days,
00:24 you can place your legal sports wagers
00:26 at retail in-person sportsbooks around the state.
00:30 The mobile component isn't coming
00:32 until the end of the month.
00:33 September 28 is when those mobile apps will launch.
00:36 You can go now and sign up for the mobile apps of your choice.
00:41 And a lot of them are doing pre-registration bonuses.
00:44 So that might be something that folks in Kentucky
00:47 want to check out.
00:48 Get those accounts set up now and be ready.
00:51 But yeah, we do have the first initial, not final, copy
00:56 of a sports betting catalog.
00:59 Basically, that's just a fancy way of saying,
01:01 here's what you can bet on in Kentucky.
01:03 And even to the meeting where the sports betting catalog was
01:07 initially approved, it sounded like a lot of stuff
01:10 was going to be missing.
01:12 It sounded like some of the commissioners on that panel
01:18 seemed a little upset about how limited the sports betting
01:21 catalog was.
01:22 But we got the sports betting catalog a little later
01:26 in the day.
01:26 And it looks fine to me, Craig.
01:29 I mean, there may be--
01:31 you're not getting to bet on Russian ping pong
01:35 and all of those kind of niche things
01:38 that we see in other states.
01:39 But you have pretty much everything
01:43 that 95% of bettors are going to want.
01:45 You have all the major leagues.
01:48 You have LIV Golf.
01:50 You have PGA Tour.
01:53 You got Major League Eating.
01:54 You got the hot dog eating contest on there.
01:57 So there's plenty of fringe stuff on there, too.
02:01 Like I said, it's really just maybe that 50%, 10% of bettors
02:05 who are really looking for in-play bets and stuff,
02:08 that they may be missing some things.
02:10 But most everyone is going to be pretty happy with what's
02:13 available in Kentucky.
02:15 And look, sports books are getting ready.
02:18 There's going to be a lot of people at the starting line
02:22 ready to take these bets in Kentucky.
02:24 So I'm excited to see what Kentucky does.
02:27 Kentucky is one of those states where
02:29 it was almost completely surrounded by other states
02:32 with sports betting.
02:33 So I'm a numbers nerd.
02:35 So we're looking at not just the numbers
02:37 that Kentucky's bringing in, but we're
02:39 going to be watching all those states around it, too,
02:41 to see just how much Kentucky residents have been
02:44 contributing to them as well.
02:47 You think about Ohio, think about Tennessee.
02:50 So we're going to be watching a bunch of things
02:52 right now to see how Kentucky's launch is
02:56 going to change sports betting in that region of the US.
03:00 But you have to think that Kentucky is going to see some
03:03 really chunky numbers to launch with, Craig,
03:06 considering that we're launched in football season.
03:09 And football season is obviously synonymous
03:11 with picking up customers for these sports books.
03:15 So Kentucky, be ready to see all of the sports betting
03:20 commercials.
03:21 You're going to hear of brands you probably hadn't before.
03:25 And look, all I can say is check out these bonus offers.
03:28 Find the ones that are right for you.
03:30 There are some great ones out there.
03:33 Be aware of what these bonus offers are, though.
03:35 The bonus bets that you get with these bonus offers,
03:38 you can't just withdraw that cash.
03:40 So don't deposit more than you're comfortable with.
03:45 Don't bet more than you're comfortable with.
03:46 There's a promotion going on right now with a sports book
03:49 that is encouraging people to place a $50 bet,
03:53 and they'll get whatever X on the back end.
03:56 And you know what?
03:58 That's great for people that are comfortable with betting $50.
04:01 But in my personal opinion, you shouldn't
04:04 be stretching like that.
04:06 You shouldn't be going heavily above whatever
04:10 your betting unit of choice is just to grab a promo.
04:13 That, to me, can lead to bad things down the line.
04:17 If you're getting comfortable with bigger bets,
04:20 then maybe you should be spending.
04:22 So check out the bonus offers, but always bet responsibly.
