00:09 not watch Anubhav Sinha's latest, Article 15.

00:13 Article 15 is a hard-hitting, in-your-face kind of movie which not only holds mirror

00:26 to society but also exposes some bitter truths about the sharp divide on caste lines in our

00:32 country. It makes you think, pause and ponder as to why the fundamental right of equality

00:40 as enshrined in Constitution under Article 15 remains a distant dream in this country.

00:46 Article 15 is based on true incidents including Badaayog Gangreb. It's about a young and

00:52 idealist IPS officer who is posted in Lalgaon, a god-forsaken place which he thought never

00:58 existed in the hinterlands of India while he studied in Europe. The first face that

01:04 greets him on arrival shocks him and stirs his conscience. Two gang-raped Dalit girls

01:10 are found hanging from a tree and the third one goes missing. Still, his subordinates

01:16 in the department, both caste conscious and corrupt, try to dismiss this heinous crime

01:22 as a routine affair. How this young IPS officer sets out to crack the case to ensure justice

01:29 is what Article 15 is all about. Acting-wise, Ayushmann Khurrana is fabulous as usual with

01:36 his understated portrayal of the police officer. With every out-of-the-box movie, he is raising

01:42 the bar. But he's not the solitary star in this movie. He's ably supported by a

01:47 talented bunch of co-stars including Manoj Bhawa, Kumud Mishra, Shayani Gupta, Nasar

01:55 and Jishan Ayyub. The cinematography, the story in screenplay and dialogues, and the

02:00 background score are all excellent. But the movie, Article 15, truly belongs to its director,

02:06 Manobhav Sinha, who has done a remarkable job by making a sensitive, thought-provoking

02:12 and engrossing movie out of such a subject. After his brilliant Mulk, which was about

02:18 the persecution of a patriotic Muslim family, he has taken a giant leap forward by making

02:24 another socially relevant movie. It is hard to believe that he has directed many pot-boilers

02:31 like Ravan in the past. Article 15 is a must-watch. I would like to give 4 out of 5 stars to this
