00:00We have Mayuk Beshash, 37-year-old candidate from the CPIM, who's contesting from the Domdom Constituency of West Bengal
00:07this time.
00:08Could you just briefly walk us through your journey with the party and the ideology?
00:12Actually, I'm coming from a late background. I have a legacy of late movement.
00:19I also have a March year in my family.
00:22They are my family members. They were freedom fighters. We have an immense history against emergency also.
00:31So, all these stories actually inspired me from childhood.
00:34Just to start it off, what do you think is the CPIM's primary electoral agenda walking into the sport?
00:39Actually, we are focusing on job generation. We gave in our late manifesto, we focused to create jobs in every
00:48household.
00:49That is a prime agenda. And at the same time, we announced that within five years, we will fulfill the
00:57all vacancies.
00:58And it is very realistic. I am not talking about whimsically, we will fill up, not like that.
01:03Step by step, within five years, we will fill up the all vacancies. There is a prime focus on that.
01:08And after that, we are focusing on the farmers, the workers' rights.
01:12The workers, their rights have been destroyed.
01:15So, we are saying that we will give 700 rupees per day and we will create 200 days job.
01:23Which is now completely strapped by the central and state governments.
01:26And these are the policies. And of course, here I am in Domdom.
01:29We are fighting against the education minister.
01:33And the whole education system is completely collapsing in our state.
01:36And especially in Domdom.
01:37And we are announcing that we will focus to reopen the schools.
01:42Because we have to rebuild the whole education system.
01:45And then, of course, we are focusing on the women, the women's safety.
01:49From Kamduni to Dhupguri, everywhere, the women's safety has been compromised in this state.
01:54And they are being targeted by these patriarchal rulers of this country and the state also.
02:00So, we are focusing on the human safety.
02:03At the same time, we have rebuilt the panchayat system.
02:06We are focusing on the environment.
02:08We are focusing on the other marginalized sections.
02:11And, of course, we are focusing on the North Bengal as well as Sundarbans to rebuild.
02:16And these are the issues we are focusing.
02:18Mohik, what does it mean to be a young face of the party when there are numerous accusations of the
02:24party foregrounding only the old guards, the old faces?
02:27You see, you see all around.
02:30We are not sitting in a Domdom constituency.
02:33Very next to this seat is a Domdom North.
02:36Dipshitai is contesting.
02:37From the left, Varanogar constituency.
02:40Shanditai is contesting.
02:41We go everywhere in this Domdom constituency.
02:44Everywhere, you see.
02:45Once they accused us, we became a party of old.
02:49But now, there are so many new faces.
02:51How they will fight?
02:52Because they were actually, they were, this is the left.
02:55Always, all over the world, left is a symbol of the young people.
03:02It's a symbol of the change.
03:03And that is why the young people are taking the issues of the young generation, young blood.
03:08You see, those old guards of this ruler, old rulers of this country, of this state, they are trying to
03:16destroy our hope.
03:18And that is why we are saying, we already, our West Bengal became an old age home.
03:23Yeah.
03:24Now, this is a chance for us, for our generation, to rebuild, give a hope, rebuild West Bengal.
03:32These are the things we are focusing.
03:33And at the same time, our party is immensely important on the young generation.
03:38That is why you can see the change of patterns in our campaign.
03:42The new campaign's materials, the way, the songs, which is related with the local issues.
03:48They are focusing on the local issues.
03:50At the same time, there's a new type of, I mean, you can say, you can see the style, the
03:57graffiti, all the visuals.
03:58It's a new, I mean, a new blend of hope, enthusiasm, and, of course, a new spirit, you can say.
04:07Not asking for your projections, but what do you make of the left's chances, honest chances this year?
04:12Of course, this will be the resurgence of left in Bengal, that you can say.
