Cuba: First Country to Eliminate Mother-to-Child HIV Transmission

The World Health Organization has announced that Cuba is the first country in the world to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis. Cuba is credited with having diagnostic measures that allow for the identification of mothers registering positive tests and a commitment to provide them with wholesale access to retrovirals.
