04:56national government have worked in the next month to be able to be here today right in the future of
05:06our relationship between CELAC and Africa I would like to thank also to President Lula da Silva
05:13because he has been his vision has created for years his purpose his purpose to connect Africa America Latin America
05:26and the Caribbean we celebrate this encounter this meeting in order to improve our life conditions the life conditions for
05:40our peoples
05:59this forum is the result of a sustained work of our government through the 2022-2026
06:10Colombia Africa Africa strategy when we proposed this strategy we did it with the view of building bridges between Africa
06:22Latin America and the Caribbean and this foreign policy priority is our heritage to strengthen memory justice and historical reparations
06:33through that strategy
06:38we seek to transform a relation that for decades has been dispersed and intermittent into a structured and powerful relation
06:50that we can sustain in the long term this CELAC Africa high level forum was built around three pillars south
06:59-south cooperation for development
07:01historical reparations and ethnic and racial justice and lastly trade and investment
07:09over the last three days we've been able to set forth a vision of the future for our bi-regional
07:21relation and adopt fundamental decisions for the benefit and unity of our peoples this is of course
07:30something that makes us something that makes us very proud as does receiving you here
07:36at this high level segment it is indeed the beginning of a new era in the relation between both our
07:44regions for too long colonialism isolated us from one another it brought us to believe that we were far away
07:52that it was not worth the effort to get in touch
07:57the colonial system this enslaving system traced routes that allowed the colonial powers to dehumanize and sell as a piece
08:15of merchandise our ancestors generating a deep pain in our peoples today we have to transform those routes of suffering
08:22into routes of freedom
08:24to mobilize opportunities and hope
08:27it is with this in mind that we will sign today an agreement between the government of Colombia and the
08:34government of Ghana to create a direct maritime transport route between the port of Cartagena and the port of Temma
08:43we must keep working hard to strengthen trade and investment ties between our countries and sectors of public and private
08:54financing we also must improve inter-institutional coordination in order to facilitate and stimulate investment and bi-regional trade we
09:07must lastly connect our regions through better logistical connections
09:12creating direct routes that will allow our people to come together again move from one side to the other and
09:22take advantage of all opportunities this is a new era as I said in which the dialogue between Africa Latin
09:29America and the Caribbean is advancing towards more permanent forms of political economic and cultural cooperation this is a new
09:39era in which we are working in a coordinated fashion
09:42to build joint agenda in the face of considerable global challenges thanks to the strength and the leadership of our
09:55youth it is also a new era in which our regions will be able to coordinate positions points of view
10:06and speak in one voice in multilateral arenas
10:11to keep strengthening this vision I would like to invite you all to work in a coordinated way so that
10:21the first ever CELAC African Union Summit can become a reality I put this in your hands so that together
10:30we may come to organize this forum this summit for now the present high level forum between CELAC and Africa
10:39CELAC is a show of the fact that our regions are ready to walk this path towards the future together
10:46we are determined to strengthen our cooperation and to play a more active role in building a more equal world
10:56we will keep working with our hearts until ensuring that in Latin America the Caribbean and Africa
11:09we can breathe dignity thank you very much
