00:14Basically a month into the season.

00:17Here in week four and teams are starting to reach a critical portion of the schedule.

00:22It's the USF Bulls and the Bowling Green Falcons.

00:27Along with David Pollock and Jesse Palmer, I'm Reece Davis.

00:31Holly Rowe, some interesting storylines setting up in this one.

00:35USF made one of the most interesting hires in the coaching carousel.

00:39Brian Hartlein is a proven winner as a player and an assistant.

00:44Now he'll have an opportunity.

00:45First time as a head coach, we will see if he's able to get USF back on top.

00:50Guys, back to you.

00:51Thank you, Holly. Really looking forward to this matchup.

00:56The Falcons ready to put toe to leather, and here we go.

01:04He'll start the return inside his spot.

01:07Really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19.

01:14The Bulls offense will go on the attack first.

01:17And here's the guy they want to be, this senior running back.

01:21Found the end zone a couple of times in his last game, just under 100 yards on the ground.

01:27How good has this guy been early this year?

01:29Sort of a dark horse.

01:30No one really talking about this guy.

01:31The Heisman talk or the dope Walker talk from the nation's outstanding running back.

01:36He has just been carving through defenses early this year.

01:40This is a rising star in this offense, David, that people can no longer ignore.

01:44And I love what the coaches said about him.

01:46It's the attitude every day.

01:48He always worked hard.

01:49Like, all through the preseason, they saw it.

01:51They saw some glimpses of, this guy could be really special.

01:55And then once the game started, it continued to add up.

01:58And he truly has come at an absolute name.

02:02Third down, and they'll need two on this initial drive of the game.

02:09Sells to Faith.

02:11Oh, pressure's coming.

02:13Gets rid of it.

02:14Coaches look at this stat every single football game.

02:17How do you execute on third down?

02:19And a lot of times, man, it's about being in position and making plays.

02:23And that's exactly what he did.

02:25The right spot, breaking on the football, being physical, setting the tone in this football game.

02:33The Falcons offense takes the field for the first time in this game.

02:37And here comes the sophomore running back.

02:39He may not be the best-known star around, but, man, does this team love what he brings.

02:45Well, he's a very special talent at running back.

02:47And in the future, it'll be interesting to see if he sticks around.

02:49Obviously, it's a long season, a long way to go.

02:52He's got a lot of ability.

02:53He's got speed.

02:54He can break tackles.

02:55He can catch the football.

02:56No question this year, this guy is going to be the whole key to him.

03:00He is.

03:01And I tell you what, to watch in this matchup where they're kind of outmatched in most positions,

03:05how can he still make an impact on this game, making guys miss, like doing it by himself?

03:11Or can his offensive line pave the way a little bit and maybe be neutral to get him some of

03:15those matchups?

03:16But he is the one guy on this offense that can make life very, very difficult for you.

03:22And the other defense knows that.

03:24I'm really curious to watch how this unfolds.

03:26Not exactly the ideal situation for this offense.

03:30Third and long, backed up inside their 20.

03:33And the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down.

03:37Oof, you've got to be careful if you're the quarterback there.

03:39Third down, you know, you see a lot of exotic coverages by the defense.

03:43That time they played zone, and he tried to force that football into a real tiny window.

03:48He's lucky that one wasn't picked off.

03:51The solid return there, offsets some of the putt yardage, and really sets up this offense nicely.

03:58Defense better dig in for the run.

04:01Heavy formation is there.

04:04Keeps it moving, it's Isaac.

04:07Nowhere to go on that one.

04:09It'll bring up second and ten.

04:11Awesome job up front by this defensive line.

04:14Being so good at the point of attack, and eating blocks, eating some double teams

04:19that allows these linebackers to run free, unencumbered, and get to the football.

04:24Going for it all.

04:27And they wanted it all on that incomplete pass.

04:30Instead, they're looking at third down.

04:32And that's not a surprise.

04:33But when a QB lines up and sees man-to-man coverage on his guy

04:37that runs so fast on the GPS that it's speeding in a school zone,

04:41like, this dude can absolutely roll.

04:44He sees man coverage, tries to take advantage of it.

04:47They don't execute on that play.

04:49But if you want to play that defense, I think you'll get that pattern a lot from that guy.

04:54Punt is in the air on fourth down.

04:57Signals for the fair catch, and that's where they'll put it in play, just outside the 20.

05:03Bowling Green has it back.

05:05The Falcon offense will go to work.

05:07They went three and out on their first possession.

05:09Now to see if they can be more productive this time around.

05:16First play of this drive.

05:18Swings it out to his running back.

05:20Makes the catch, but goes no further, and it'll be a short pickup on that one.

05:25Long way to go on second down.

05:32They'll move the wide receiver.

05:36Off the bootleg, wants to throw it.

05:38And they get to the quarterback and knock him down back at the 16.

05:43And the defense gets a sack, and that's going to be the big determining factor in this football game.

05:47A week ago, he only got sacked one time.

05:50They've already got him on the ground.

05:51If they want to win this football game, they've got to keep getting after the quarterback.

05:55Fires to the big fella.

05:57And that's just not the start they envisioned for this football game.

06:00First possession, you've got to punt.

06:02Second possession now, fourth and short.

06:04I'm interested, do they push the gas pedal and be aggressive because it has been a slow start,

06:09and they haven't gotten things going, and do they try to force it here?

06:14Makes a nice grab at the 25.

06:17And he'll work his way on to return out to the 35-yard line before he's stopped.

06:22The Bulls offense comes out ready to go to work.

06:25We'll see if they can be a little more productive this time around.

06:29A three and out the last time they had the ball.

06:32At the 40, just steamrolling the defense.

06:36Big pickup on the ground into plus territory, and they get him out of bounds at the 41.

06:43Hey, listen, explosive plays comes in all different shapes and sizes.

06:46That time they attack the outside to the left on the ground, and that is a momentum-shifting play.

06:52They know they have a huge advantage there.

06:54I expect them to go right back to it.

06:56And what do you do now if you're on defense?

06:58You've got to be expecting that they're going to try and attack that side of the field,

07:01maybe in the same way, maybe on this next play right here.

07:05Man, I go back to it again, too, man.

07:07I mean, just the big play, the play before, and they say, why not?

07:10Try it again, get it to their running back, try to create some space.

07:14Better job by the defense, being gap sound, coming downhill,

07:18not letting him break tackles and make a big play.

07:21Well, this tight end, he's got size, and he's got some athleticism,

07:24and he's very difficult to cover one-on-one.

07:27Defense is going to have their hands full with him today.

07:30And the Bulls have it with a first and ten.

07:34They're going to run it.

07:37He has wrestled down at the 17-yard line.

07:40They've got a first down in the red zone.

07:43You can see this defense.

07:45They are back on their heels right now.

07:47This offense very much in a groove, in a rhythm.

07:50They've got to find something to disrupt this.

07:53Right now, they're doing what they want, when they want, how they want.

07:56This defense has got to answer the bell.

07:58You know, and that's why this guy can play first, second, and third down.

08:01You've already seen him earlier in the drive, rip off some nice runs,

08:05but he can catch the football as well.

08:07They're going to find ways to get him going in all sorts of ways,

08:10but you're seeing it specifically on this drive.

08:13He'll be hauled down just inside the ten and the nine

08:16as they're trying to turn this into a score.

08:19Boy, they love to pick up this conversion

08:21and go to work with a first and goal.

08:26To the air.

08:27It's Van Buren.

08:28He caught it.

08:29He'll be stopped just short of the end zone,

08:32but they'll have it first and goal.

08:34The Bulls come to the line with a fresh set of downs

08:37thanks to that last connection in the passing game.

08:40They'll use the running game on first and goal.

08:43And he takes it in for the score.

08:46Touchdown, Bulls!

08:49Precision blocking up front created the open lane,

08:52and the running back followed it beautifully.

08:54Yeah, it's pretty easy to follow an offensive line

08:57that makes those holes

08:59and just gives you a caravan all the way to the end zone.

09:02What an unbelievable job blocking up front.

09:05Getting set for the extra point

09:07after putting the scoreboard to work for the first time.

09:10And the PAT makes it 7-0.

09:13They put together a 65-yard drive for the score.

09:17And it was closed out by the short yardage touchdown.

09:19No, it's only 3-0.

09:25And he takes this from inside the 5.

09:28Not a lot of space to be found.

09:30Good hustle by the coverage team,

09:32and they stop him at the 21.

09:34They love to put a long drive together here

09:37as they start from their own 21.

09:42Sells the run, wants to pass.

09:44Extending the play.

09:46Excellent pursuit by this defense

09:48as he barely gets back to the line of scrimmage.

09:52Second and long here.

09:58Wide receiver going in motion.

10:03Grab behind the line.

10:05It's Gridley.

10:06He's down right there.

10:07Short gain on the grab.

10:10Really good offenses are able to attack short.

10:12You've got to be able to attack the whole field

10:14to make you honor that underneath part,

10:16then the intermediate part,

10:17and then you take shots down the field.

10:19This will loosen up some shots for later in the game.

10:22Hit and dropped in the backfield.

10:24He'll lose four.

10:30The kick is on its way.

10:35Looks it in.

10:36Bottled him up.

10:37Not a whole lot of room to run on that return,

10:40and that's how this period will come to an end.

10:43That's the end of the period,

10:44and USF is on top

10:46as we get a look at the numbers so far.

11:10So, they'll go back to work after changing into the field.

11:22I love when you start bringing linebackers up near the line of scrimmage,

11:30and you start sending them,

11:31because those guys have serious speed.

11:33They can come catch anybody up and down the line of scrimmage.

11:37The linebacker, you could tell.

11:37He had a good clue what was going on.

11:39He knew it was a run play.

11:41Fired, pulled the trigger, came downhill,

11:43and attacked the running back.

11:45Hey, man, if you're going to force incompletions with the Kimmy's throwing the tight end,

11:48you better be physical.

11:49Nice jump with the hit, forcing that in for the Bulls.

11:58Looking to pass.

11:59It's Van Buren.

12:01Fires downfield.

12:03Another incompletion on third down,

12:06and the Bulls will call on their punt team.

12:15No return coming here as he signals for the pair.

12:18Their catch-in makes it right around the 30-yard line.

12:22Bowling Green's offense will take the field to start the drive.

12:25This offense has been stagnant so far.

12:28One, two, three, kick the last time they had the ball,

12:30and this time really needing to get a score.

12:33Finds his man.

12:34It's Clay.

12:35That's about as close as you can get to that marker,

12:38and it will be second and just a few breaths away from the first down.

12:43And the Falcons come to the line.

12:45This situation, you might see a shot play.

12:48And how about that play by that giant,

12:51that mountain of a man on the defensive front?

12:55Lining up to convert third down.

13:02Powers inside.

13:04They pull him down, but he's got enough,

13:07and it'll be a first down for this offense.

13:10The Falcons come to the line with a fresh set of downs.

13:16Off play action on first down.

13:19Looking down the middle.

13:21Makes a connection.

13:22Makes that one pay off,

13:24and they finally get him down at the 38.

13:26It'll be first down.

13:28And the Falcons are moving quickly down the field.

13:35Fake to the back.

13:36Wants to throw it.

13:38He's got the tight end.

13:40Makes to grab it down immediately.

13:42He picks up a few.

13:44After the four-yard completion on first down,

13:46now it's second and six.

13:51He wants to throw it.

13:53Setting up the screen.

13:55Brought down just short of the sticks on the screen pass.

13:59Well, a nice gainer on that running back screen.

14:01How about the offensive line getting downfield and getting blocks

14:05to really help out the back, find some space to go to work?

14:10On target.

14:12Picks up enough to get them first and ten from the 11.

14:17Really nice job there by the quarterback,

14:19understanding that it's zone coverage on third down.

14:22You're going to have to find someone working into a soft spot,

14:25get the ball out of your hands quickly,

14:27make an accurate thing.

14:28Has it!

14:29And he's into the end zone!

14:32Touchdown, Bowling Green!

14:35Field shrinks.

14:36Tight end grows.

14:38Big targets, big results.

14:42I've never heard it put that way.

14:44It's a dang wreck.

14:45That guy is so big.

14:47A lot of times you get a DB matched up on him.

14:49He can just post him up.

14:50A linebacker, he can run by him.

14:52So that's why these tight ends are so dangerous

14:54down here in this red zone.

14:56And they add the extra point to finish the drive.

15:00They took it 71 yards down the field.

15:03And they finish it with an 11-yard touchdown dart.

15:11He'll bring it back from inside his five.

15:14Packed one brought down at the 16-yard line after the return.

15:21South Florida ready to send the offense back onto the field.

15:24Last time they had it, didn't pick up a first down.

15:27Let's see if they can put something together here.

15:30Just searching and working for the running room as he gets it out to the 26.

15:36You want to make play calling easy for an offensive coordinator?

15:39Run the ball like that every point.

15:41I mean, when you can run that on first down and set up a short yardage on second down,

15:45it makes play calling easy.

15:47Every single call on that sheet is available here on second down.

15:52Good, solid pick up on that one.

15:54They've got it out to the 40 and it's first down.

15:57And that is a gut punch for the defense.

16:00They literally ran the football right up the middle into the teeth of your unit

16:05and almost nobody touched him until he was way down the field.

16:09We've got to do a better job getting off of...

16:11Throws it deep.

16:13And they dialed up a shot play, but they couldn't make the connection.

16:17Well, you see them there taking the shot.

16:19I think the thought process is, look, we've had so much success early in this game running the football.

16:25Let's see if we can now take advantage of the defense, throwing the ball over their head.

16:30They're going to be expecting run.

16:32Safeties and linebackers are all going to be playing downhill, trying to stop that.

16:36If we get the one-on-one opportunities to the outside, we have got to take shots.

16:40That one fell incomplete, but they should keep trying this as the game goes on.

16:46Tight end finds a soft spot.

16:48He'll be stopped short in the line to gain.

16:51Needed about three more on that one.

16:54Man, wow, what a catch by the big fella.

16:56And when he's not open, he's open.

16:59So nice to have a big target that can make those type of catches.

17:03I imagine he'll keep throwing him the football.

17:07You'd think they would have had a good chance to down that one deep, but the bounce carries it into

17:12the end zone for the touchback.

17:14No reason to be in a big rush.

17:16They have some time here late in the half.

17:20The give to the running back from the shotgun.

17:24Building momentum, picking up a chunk of yardage, moving the chains out to the 34.

17:29On first down, here comes this offense.

17:32We'll take a quick break here.

17:34Two minutes to play in the first half.

17:38They've got a first and ten at the 34.

17:46Fresh center downs going to the air.

17:49Rush right in his face.

17:51Hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver.

17:57They don't need a bunch on second down.

18:03Here's the snap, itching to fire downfield.

18:06Now wide right, it's playing.

18:09Nice completion here to this wide receiver.

18:11And you're going to see this receiver line up in different spots all over the field all game long.

18:16Defense has got to keep their eye on where this guy is because they know he's a big part of

18:21this offense's success.

18:22All kinds of room to throw that one in there.

18:25And there was lots of space as he gets into the 39-yard line.

18:35Looking to throw again.

18:37Got his man.

18:39There he goes.

18:40They've got it inside the 30.

18:43They'll mark it at the 28.

18:44It's first down.

18:46The Falcons go back to work after moving the chains through the air.

18:53Fresh center downs going up top.

18:57He's brought down quickly.

18:59Minimal gain there.

19:00Still a bit short of the first down.

19:02Now the offense wants to make sure everything's straightened out and they call their first timeout.

19:08They'll have two left to work with before the half.

19:12Wants to throw.

19:13He's working against the clock.

19:16That's a fumble.

19:18Recovered by the defense and he's off.

19:25They finally came down but a huge return.

19:28Not only do they get the ball back but man did they set up some field position.

19:33It's bad enough on offense to turn it over.

19:36It's even worse though David when you let a D lineman flip the field on you.

19:41What happened there?

19:44It was greatness is what happened.

19:46I don't know what you're talking about when you let a D lineman.

19:48The best athletes on the field.

19:49That's what you dream about by the way.

19:52You dream about scooping up a fumble.

19:55Taking it to the house.

19:56Showing everybody that defensive linemen are such great athletes.

20:00And just point proven.

20:05Anything you can do.

20:06I can do better.

20:08The Bulls use their first timeout.

20:11They'll have two left to work with before the half.

20:20Dealing with a second and six.

20:26He rifles one deep down the right side.

20:29And it was worth going for a chunk play but the long pass is incomplete.

20:34The offense just has not been able to find a way to get their rhythm going here in the first

20:39half.

20:39We just haven't seen it in the passing game.

20:41That was a really good example of it again.

20:44If they're going to score more points in the second half.

20:46They've got to make some adjustments here at halftime.

20:48The Bulls will snap it on first and ten.

21:03Got out of trouble and throws.

21:05Caught near the sidelines.

21:07He'll pick up a few before going out of bounds.

21:09This quarterback right now is in a groove and he's doing a nice job in pre-snap.

21:14He's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football.

21:18That's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly.

21:21That's why he seems like he's in a great road.

21:23Let's it fly.

21:25They'll spot the ball at the 12 after that completion.

21:29Timeout taken by the offense is their second.

21:33And they'll still have one in their pocket for what's left in this first half.

21:38And the Bulls, after moving the sticks through the air, come to the line.

21:44Tied in in motion.

21:45See how the D reacts.

21:49Tells the play fake.

21:50Wants to throw on first down.

21:52Pressure all over the quarterback.

21:53Back and down he goes at the 24.

22:04They get the timeout called here and probably just enough time for one more snap to put up points before

22:10the half.

22:17And with just a few seconds remaining here in the first half, they'll try to kick a field goal.

22:22And this will be a 41-yarder coming up from the right side.

22:27And the try is no good.

22:29After that failed field goal attempt, fellas, still tie ball game.

22:33And we are headed to halftime.

22:36Both squads headed into the locker room to make some adjustments.

22:38Gives us an opportunity to check in with Kevin Connors in our EA Sports College Football Studio Update.

22:45Guys, hard to believe we're a full month into the season.

22:48A lot of action in college football here in Week 4.

22:52We begin with the Northwestern Wildcats taking on the number 4 team, the Indiana Hoosiers.

23:00And it's the Wildcats looking to make it three straight victories to start the new year.

23:07So far, so good.

23:09They lead this one in the first half.

23:12Now back to your game in Bowling Green.

23:15This defense has set the tone through two quarters of football.

23:19They've drawn a line in the sand and they've held it.

23:22It's why they'll take a lead into the second half.

23:25And it could be why they come away with a big victory.

23:29And with that, let's send it back to the guys at Doit L. Perry Stadium.

23:34All right, Kevin about ready to start the second half here.

23:45And it'll be a touchback.

23:46The ball will come out to the 25-yard line.

23:50Bowling Green has it back and they'll send the offense onto the field.

23:55First drive of the second half, always fun to watch.

23:57You see what type of tweaks were made at the half, especially when you're locked up in a ballgame like

24:02this one.

24:02Yeah, and it's been a good game.

24:04I mean, it's been a little bit of back and forth and a feeling out process.

24:07And now once you get in the second half, who's going to get aggressive, Palmer?

24:10Who's going to take some shots, try to make some plays and really go for it?

24:13Yeah, it's interesting.

24:15I think as play callers right now, you learn a lot about these coaching staffs with respect to who does

24:20make the best adjustments.

24:21There's a lot of coaches that believe we're just going to be who we are.

24:24We're going to keep doing what we do.

24:25We're just going to do it better.

24:26But then there are others that tweak things a little bit on offense and on defense.

24:31We're going to find out here.

24:36The handoff as they run the counterplay here.

24:39The big fella in the middle, man.

24:42Those defensive tacklers, they go such a long way in deciding and really stopping the other team's run game.

24:48Just forcing contact with those guards and those centers, owning the line of scrimmage, and getting running backs on the

24:54ground.

24:55And to start that slide a little early, and he'll be short in the first down.

24:59Oh, third and short now.

25:01They snap it from their own 46.

25:09They'll try to get it through the air.

25:11On the move, he fires.

25:13And they fail to hook up on third down.

25:16And the Falcons will punt it away on fourth down.

25:20Fourth time tonight, we've seen this guy come on to punt.

25:27And that one will find its way into the end zone for a touchback.

25:33This USF offense will open this drive right here.

25:37They haven't really been able to line up this scoreboard, but putting points up would be huge here.

25:44Sells to run, looking to pass.

25:47Left side is Isaac.

25:49Found a little bit of room there to get it up to the 30 before going out of bounds.

25:54And it's a really good job by the quarterback, man.

25:56You run the play action, you want to take a shot.

25:59Nice job taking the check down.

26:01Running back does the rest and chews up some yardage.

26:06Not a lot of daylight.

26:07He gets one to the 32.

26:10You see the offense trying to go option.

26:12But with the speed the defense has and their ability to track the ball sideline to sideline,

26:17it's going to make it very difficult.

26:19There's just nowhere for the running back to go.

26:22Great play on defense there.

26:27Find his tight end.

26:29Great job on the containment end.

26:31The tackling may stop it for no gain.

26:34In their vision of that play, someone would run free after making an easy catch.

26:39There was nowhere to run and nowhere to go except down.

26:43Probably looked really good when they drew that one up on the board this week in practice.

26:47But obviously, a lot more difficult to go out and execute.

26:51Give the defense credit.

26:52Great stop.

26:53The Bulls will bring the punt team onto the field.

26:56That leg is staying loose already.

26:58The fifth kick of the night.

27:00He's got great speed.

27:02They'll put a stop to that if we turn at about the 37-yard line.

27:07Bowling Green has it back.

27:08The Falcon offense will go to work.

27:11And points have been hard to come by in this one.

27:13They'll try to put together a drive.

27:17Pretty good effort on that one to work his way up to the 42.

27:22Second down coming up.

27:28Keep it on the ground.

27:30Spins away from the defender.

27:32They'll get it to the 48.

27:34No need to measure it to first down.

28:10And I've said that a lot.

28:12And these teams are just struggling.

28:13I mean, the offense just doesn't know what to do.

28:17Nothing's working.

28:18Throw game.

28:19It's kind of been a rock fight on both sides.

28:24Couldn't quite haul it in.

28:26They almost had their first pick here late in the game.

28:30The Falcons line up to punt it away.

28:33This will be the fifth kick of the night.

28:37Hunt goes out of bounds.

28:39And a really nice job as they stick them deep in their own end.

28:43They'll mark it around the ten.

28:51Keeping it on the ground with the single bat.

28:54He's brought down, but there's a flag on the play.

28:56Let's see if it stands.

29:07So the officials spy that face mask penalty,

29:10and the offense gets a first down.

29:12The offense will gladly take a fresh set of downs after the penalty.

29:21Turning it on.

29:23He's stopped right at the 50-yard line,

29:25but they'll move the chains.

29:26It's first down.

29:28And running backs are so good, so talented, so elusive.

29:32You see nowadays they really have the ability to make you miss,

29:34run you over.

29:35Unbelievable effort.

29:36Nice job.

29:37You keep that going, it's going to be hard to stop.

29:41Zings it complete to the right.

29:43They stop him just short of the first down,

29:46but it will be second and inches coming up.

29:49And the Bulls come to the line.

29:51In this situation, you might see a shot play.

29:53To the air.

29:54It's Van Buren.

29:56Gets rid of it.

29:58The little soft flip pass falls incomplete.

30:02And that was good defense again,

30:04and unfortunately, we've been saying that all game long.

30:08Really, really good defense.

30:10Or...

30:10Man, he's all bottled up, and now it's worse.

30:13The ball's loose.

30:14Defense trying to take it back.

30:16Racing down the left side.

30:20The defense takes matters into its own hands.

30:25It's really hard as a quarterback because you've got your eyes downfield.

30:28You're trying to find an open guy.

30:30You're trying to negotiate the rush,

30:31and all of a sudden, people are swatting at the ball.

30:33They hit you.

31:24And this offense on first down,

31:26man, they go backwards,

31:27and they built a deficit,

31:29and they've just been sluggish,

31:30and they just need something to get going,

31:33to get started,

31:34because they've kind of looked out of sorts

31:36and out of rhythm this whole game.

31:39Showing the arm strength down the left side.

31:42Knocked away in the last minute,

31:44and that is precision defensive back play there.

31:47Well, this defense was ready for go-runs.

31:50It's against this receiver and his speed.

31:52He's one of the fastest in the country.

31:54They knew this quarterback was going to try

31:56to take the top off the defense.

31:58Nowhere to go, and the ball is loose.

32:01Oh, the offense fortunate to fall on that one,

32:04and they'll live to fight another play.

32:06The Bulls will punt this one away.

32:08We've seen a lot of the punt teams six times tonight.

32:13He'll settle for some pretty good field position

32:15and make the fair catch at around the 35.

32:18This drive will get started from the 37-yard line.

33:59We talked to them this week.

34:01It was the main focus point of this offense,

34:03stopping the run game, stopping the run game.

34:05Boy, have they showed up and showed out

34:08and answered that challenge.

34:10And he was hit just as he was releasing the pass

34:13and it falls to the ground incomplete.

34:15And the Falcons decide to punt it away.

34:18They'll be forced to kick for the sixth time tonight.

34:22Dude, how about that goal?

34:24I mean, you talk about power.

34:26That dude just put it.

34:28They've got a first down here.

34:29What a start it's been to this season.

34:31We've got a great game here.

34:32Post-ball game, fourth quarter.

34:34Couldn't ask for anything more.

34:36And the runner is down, and so is the flag.

34:49We'll repeat the previous down,

34:51but this time the offense has ten more yards it has to cover.

34:57Quarterback and running back set up in the pistol.

35:02Selling the run, but he wants to throw it.

35:05Way off target there.

35:07And this is going to fall on the quarterback's shoulders here

35:09in the fourth quarter.

35:10You're trailing.

35:11It's a close game.

35:12You are going to have to complete some balls.

35:14You're going to have to make some big-time throws

35:16in small windows under duress

35:18if you're going to bring your team back

35:20and will them to victory.

35:23Incomplete there, obviously,

35:24but expect them to continue to throw it.

35:26This quarterback better dial in.

35:28And I know it's not a first down,

35:30but I still like the way they ran the football here.

35:33Just try to make the next third down manageable.

35:36Try to get it where it's not as predictable.

35:38I think the offense did a really good job being smart there,

35:40taking what the defense gave.

35:42He'll get it out to the 25.

35:44Not bothered at all being backed up,

35:46and they've got a first down.

35:50They're going to test the right side with this one.

35:53He has snowed under nowhere to go,

35:56and it'll be second and long.

35:58Now, you want to be a great run defense?

36:00Your DBs have to be great tacklers,

36:03and I love the way he comes up, sees the run.

36:06I know he makes the money in the back end covering passes,

36:09but when you've got a guy that can fly up and make tackles,

36:12man, does your defense go to a different number.

36:14He does have to get rid of it.

36:16This is going to be tough sledding for this quarterback.

36:19You're trailing here in the second half.

36:20Defense knows you've got to throw it.

36:22You're going to have to sit in the pocket under duress

36:25and start making throws in tight windows.

36:27It's not an easy situation by any stretch,

36:30but big-time players make big plays in big games.

36:33And the Bulls send out the punt unit.

36:41Making his first move.

36:43They'll get down and put a stop to this return.

36:46They'll mark it at the 32.

36:48Bowling Green's offense will take the field to start the drive.

36:51But they've punted the last three times they've had it

36:55and now really needing to put a score on the board on this possession.

36:59Got the first down with the throw,

37:01and he'll get more after taking that shot.

37:04It'll be a roughing penalty.

37:05First, first, first.

37:12And ill-advised play by that defender

37:15as he makes contact with the quarterback well after the throw,

37:18and it'll cost his defense.

37:27Surged ahead for a couple there.

37:28It'll be second and eight.

37:30At this point of the game, the offense has the lead,

37:33and the offensive coordinator knows they want to keep running the football.

37:36So he's going back.

37:37He's looking at his playlist, and he's saying,

37:38which runs work the best for me in this game?

37:41What can I lean on right here to make sure we win this one?

37:46Got his man on the outside.

37:48And they wrap him up, but not before.

37:50He gets it up on the catch for the first down.

37:54Here's this offense with a fresh set of downs.

37:59Direct snap.

38:01And they get to him behind the line.

38:03It'll be a loss of two.

38:05Well, the offense is trying to get physical.

38:07They're pulling the backside guard on that play.

38:09He completely whiffs, though, and misses his block.

38:12And as a result, it's a negative play.

38:16Out wide left.

38:17It's Whitley.

38:18They make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time

38:21to get to that first down mark.

38:24Third and six yards to go.

38:33Looking to throw.

38:38And it's picked off.

38:40That's the turnover they desperately needed.

38:42He couldn't quite get loose on that return,

38:45but he'd already made the play, and they've got it at the 35.

38:49Dude, talk about having to have it.

38:51We needed to force the turnover.

38:53We had to get the football back.

38:55They're in such a good position to run out the clock, try to win.

38:58No serve.

39:00Our ball, first down.

39:12The Bulls' offense comes out ready to go to work.

39:15What a huge play.

39:17What a huge mistake that was with that last interception,

39:20and now this offense has a chance late.

39:25How about that defense getting back there?

39:28He'll lose a couple.

39:30Honestly, it just looks like the defense has better players on the field,

39:33and that's really demonstrated itself throughout the course of the game.

39:36They've got more speed.

39:38They've been able to shut this offense down in every possible way,

39:41and even on that last one, not letting them get out of bounds.

39:45You've got to be impressed with what you've seen by this defense.

39:48The offense has got to find something here in the first quarter.

39:51You can tell pressing a little bit.

39:53They need that big play.

39:54They want that big play to try to make this game a better ball game.

39:58Took the shot.

40:00Unsuccessful, but I wouldn't be surprised if they take some more of those.

40:03The Bulls will send out the punt unit.

40:05He'll try to really get into this one.

40:11Might have thought he'd want to try to pick up a few yards there,

40:15but he's content with making the fair catch right around the 35-yard punt.

40:19Bowling Green has it back, and they'll send the offense onto the field.

40:23After throwing the pick on the last drive, need to take care of the ball this time, Jesse.

40:28We're going to find out a lot about this quarterback right here, too.

40:30How does he fight through adversity after that last drive?

40:33Yeah, clear the mechanism, move on.

40:35That's a part of it, right?

40:36He's going to be a great player.

40:37He's got to learn how to handle these mistakes and move on.

40:40The clock winds down to the two-minute timeout,

40:42and this offense will try to drain away the time and secure the victory.

40:47Blind getting set on second down.

40:51Might as well run him again.

40:54And they'll spot it at the 45.

40:56That's good enough for a first down.

40:59So they move the sticks on the run.

41:01Let's see what they do with this one.

41:08They'll run it to keep the clock moving.

41:10The Bulls use their first timeout.

41:13And now what will they come up with on this second down play?

41:18And after that negative play on offense, with the lead late in the game,

41:21I think there are still ways that you can be creative and run the football,

41:25but not be so obvious.

41:26So zone read type plays, fake dives and pitches to the running back to get him outside,

41:32jet sweeps.

41:32You can find other ways to keep the clock moving,

41:35even though the defense knows you're going to run it.

41:38Trying to save time on defense, they use their second timeout.

41:42That'll take a moment to gather their thoughts and put together a plan for this third down play.

41:48They need a huge play on third and long.

41:53From the gun, wants to pass.

41:56Looking left.

41:57And the missed connection on third down.

42:00Well, the good news is he did a nice job reading the coverage.

42:03He knew exactly where to go with the football that time.

42:05Just a little bit too much on that pass.

42:07You wonder if that's just nerves.

42:09He's got to settle himself down a little bit.

42:14They're going to feel this one in tight quarters.

42:16You'll get it to about the 25 before they put a stop for the return.

42:21South Florida ready to send the offense back onto the field.

42:25There's plenty of time to work with here,

42:27but they have to be highly efficient in their attack, Jesse.

42:30So it comes down to the quarterback position too, Reese.

42:33Don't let the moment get too big.

42:35Play within yourself, David, because this guy's practiced the situation before.

42:39No doubt.

42:40Use the sidelines.

42:41They're your friend.

42:42I don't have to take deep shots.

42:43Throw beyond the first down marker so I can stop that clock for a little bit

42:47and possibly use my timeouts.

42:54They've got to move quickly here.

42:56Still a chance, but they've got to force the ball down the field.

43:00Selling the fake.

43:05They stop him almost immediately.

43:09Still a little ground cover and pick up the first.

43:12How aggressive might this play call be on third and short from the 46?

43:17They're all over it.

43:19Avoids the pressure and gets away.

43:21Under heavy pressure lets it fly.

43:23And it just squirted through his hands.

43:26He wanted to take off and got too anxious.

43:29Trailing by a touchdown.

43:31Getting laid in the fourth.

43:32And this is a huge, perhaps a defining moment in this game.

43:39It's incomplete.

43:40And they desperately needed to keep that drive going.

43:44And they couldn't make the connection.

43:46Their work here is virtually done.

43:48No need to take any more chances.

43:50They'll line up in victory formation.

43:58Both of these offense sputtered and stammered like a 73 AMC pacer if they made one of those back then.

44:05And ultimately, they come up short.

44:06Sounds like a beautiful car that you just want to run better.

44:09And that's the problem with this offense right now.

44:11They've got the guys to make the plays.

44:13Just not able to execute here today, Dave.

44:16And it's frustrating because you want to make those plays, especially offensively.

44:20But you've got to find a rhythm.

44:21You've got to find something you do well and kind of stick to it.

44:24That offense couldn't find anything they did really well.

44:26And that's why they couldn't put points on the board.
