00:15It's the Condors and the USF Bulls.
00:19Along with David Pollock and Jesse Palmer, I'm Reese Davis.
00:23Holly Rose, some interesting storylines setting up in this one.
00:27And USF made one of the most interesting hires in the coaching carousel.
00:31Brian Hartlein is a proven winner as a player and an assistant.
00:36Now he'll have an opportunity, first time as a head coach.
00:39We will see if he's able to get USF back on top. Guys?
00:43Holly, thank you. Can't wait to see how this one unfolds.
00:46He'll be brought down at the 22-yard line. Good coverage on that one.
00:51His return is stopped shorter than 25.
00:54The Bulls' offense will take the field first.
00:58But Jesse, it's always fun to see a guy who's been challenged, see if he can answer the bell and
01:03get things done.
01:04Well, we talked to him this week, and he knows that people are out there questioning him.
01:08And I think that leaves a big chip on his shoulder, David.
01:11He wants to prove to the entire college football world he's got what it takes to win this football game.
01:16This is a big test for him.
01:17And here's the thing. Proving it is one thing, Jesse. Like, but it's not about you.
01:21And this is a team game. Obviously, the quarterback position is so dependent on others' success.
01:27But play within yourself. Make those plays. Don't make the big mistakes.
01:32Gets it up to the 35-yard line before going out of bounds.
01:38Quarterbacks have a hard job. They've got to drop back and try to see the whole field and then see
01:42the rush coming to him.
01:43But you can tell he did a really good job scrambling outside the pocket, improvising, making the play with his
01:49feet, and then getting the first down.
01:51And this is a guy you want to feature if you're on an offense.
01:54He has so much ability at the running back position.
01:57There's a really nice game.
01:58He's just one of those guys, too, who gets better as the game goes on.
02:02So look for this offense to keep giving him the football.
02:06He's going to take off.
02:08They'll get him on the ground at the 46, and it'll be a first down.
02:13Second and short is a great situation to be in.
02:16And look at him. He drops back to pass the football.
02:19He doesn't have to throw the football.
02:20He wants to be aggressive, but he can just take off and scramble.
02:23Doesn't have to take a chance.
02:25Great being ahead of the sticks.
02:27You know, when you're running counter, those offensive linemen crashing down.
02:30They've got to be able to pin those interior D linemen.
02:33They couldn't get it done there.
02:34They gave up too much penetration, and that led to the tackle for loss.
02:39Looking for a huge play.
02:41And it's incomplete after taking a shot on second down.
02:45They're staring at third.
02:47Sometimes it takes quarterbacks a few plays to really get into the rhythm of the game and not force things.
02:53I think the quarterback that time was really trying to force the ball to his wide receiver.
02:58But it gets man coverage.
02:59There were other guys on that play that were open that could have had a chance.
03:03So the quarterback just needs to settle down a little bit.
03:05He won't be throwing as many incompletions.
03:07He just lets the coverage tell him where to go.
03:10And the Bulls will line up to punt it away.
03:13First punt of the day, and he'd love to lock them up close to their goal line.
03:19And the ball will bounce at the four and find its way into the end zone for a touchback.
03:24So the Condors offense gets to come out for its first possession of the game.
03:29And David, we'll see whether this running back has the ability to elevate his game and really become a star
03:35in this offense.
03:36Yeah, he's still developing.
03:38I think when you watch him, you say, I'm still learning the vision and how to play the running back
03:43spot.
03:43And I think you leave him, Jesse, going, I want a little bit more.
03:46I want more consistency, more big plays, so this offense can really take off.
03:50I think the coaching staff, I think the fans know for the future of this program, they need to upgrade
03:55up the position.
03:56They'll try to do that in recruiting toward the portal.
03:58But for right now, today, this guy has to be able to make plays when his opportunities show up.
04:06The defense wouldn't let him loose, and even though it's a completion, they lost yardage.
04:12Really good job by the defense, seeing it and going and getting it.
04:15Nice job understanding the touch pass.
04:17It could happen.
04:18Those guys go in motion, man.
04:19I've got to understand, safety's got to see that, start flying down, getting ready to play that.
04:24Nice job by the defense being ready for that play.
04:26That one could really put this drive into high gear as they have a first down at the 37.
04:33And it'll be the Condors come to the line with a new set of downs.
04:43Back to throw, it's right.
04:47Shakes off the defender.

04:53Well, the short passing game is a great go-to for any offensive coordinator in the first quarter because it's
04:59reliable,
04:59but it also allows you to see how the defense is going to react and play.
05:03So this can certainly open things up later on.
05:07Pulls it.
05:08Pulls it on the option.
05:09They'll run it.
05:11He goes down at the 47 after a five-yard pickup.
05:15The Condors are marching down the field.
05:26Gives it.
05:28And he stopped right there.
05:30No gain on the play.
05:32They got nothing on the last play.
05:34It's second and ten.
05:41Wide receiver going in motion.
05:47Only able to pick up a yard.
05:49It'll be third and nine.
05:52Third and long right here.
06:01From the gun.
06:02Wants to pass.
06:03Good job just to get rid of that one.
06:06It's so nice when you know it's third and long.
06:09You know a pass is coming.
06:10You worked on it all week.
06:12Get your feet set at the sticks.
06:14Understand that quarterback's got to be rushed.
06:16Get him off of his spot.
06:17Nice execution by this defense.
06:19Able to keep them from getting a return.
06:21And the ball goes out of bounds.
06:23They're going to mark it right around the 20.
06:25This USF offense will open this drive right here.
06:29So they start this drive from inside their own 20 at the 19-yard line.
06:34Can't get him to the ground.
06:36He's brought down at the 29 after a 10-yard game.
06:41And I like the thought process on offense here early in this game.
06:44They're giving their bell cow the ball early enough.
06:47And there are a lot of coaches that outthink themselves.
06:49And they think, you know, we're going to throw the ball to set up the run instead.
06:52Because everybody on defense knows our guy is the focal point.
06:56But this offense is just keeping it simple.
06:58Let's just give our best player the football early in this game.
07:00And let's just get him into a window.
07:02Man, what a job by the defense.
07:04Seeing the quarterback throw the football, break on the football.
07:07No space allowed.
07:09As soon as he catches it, defender meet ball carrier and gets him on the ground.
07:14Knocked down after getting six all the way out to the 34-yard line.
07:18It's got to feel good as an offense knowing that early in the drive, you can turn around, hand it
07:24off, get a push up front, and go get positive yardage.
07:28On play action.
07:30Their pass not closes.
07:32He got drilled trying to deliver it.
07:34And it'll bring up fourth down.
07:36The Bulls will call on their punt team.
07:39This will be the second time they've had to kick it away.
07:45Trying to get started.
07:48Everybody stays in their range well enough, and they stop him at the 31-yard line.
07:54And they'll get off one more play before the end of the quarter.
08:03Hand it to the back.
08:04A very short pickup there, and that'll be the final play of the first quarter.
08:29Still looking for our first score of the game as we start the second quarter.
08:35So second down here as we're back at it after the break.
08:42They'll move the wide receiver.
08:46Hard running there.
08:48And he's brought down after a short game.

09:05Keeps it on the ground.
09:07He did everything he could to find enough running room, but he'll be stopped about three yards short of the
09:12first down marker.
09:13It's fourth down.
09:14And it'll be the Condors decide to punt it away.
09:18This will be the second time they've had to kick it away.
09:24Not a lot of room to make this catch.
09:27He only needs a sliver of Devon.
09:29They'll put that return to a stock with the 33, but the offense set up in pretty good field position.
09:35South Florida ready to send the offense back onto the field.
09:39They've sputtered a bit early, not being able to move the football, having to punt it away each of the
09:44first two times they had it.
09:46There he goes.
09:47Really good job by everybody there.
09:50Well blocked.
09:51Good run at a first down.
09:53And that is a gut punch for the defense.
09:56They literally ran the football right up the middle into the teeth of your unit, and almost nobody touched him
10:02until he was way down the field.
10:04We've got to do a better job getting off of blocks, getting to the football, making tackles.
10:10Good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch.
10:16This first half of offense won't go on the highlight reel so far, but starting to get things moving, it's
10:22first and ten.
10:23Nowhere to go on that one.
10:25It'll bring up second and ten.
10:28Man, defense is about getting off the football.
10:30That defensive line can be disruptive and get in the backfield right away and mess up those pullers' actions on
10:37those counter plays.
10:38It can be really advantageous.
10:40Oh, he wants it all.
10:42And it's incomplete, going for the massive explosive play instead.
10:47They're looking at a third down.
10:49That's just a better job by the defender.
10:51He knew he was going to get challenged in this game.
10:54He knew these receivers had speed and they were going to test him.
10:56Nice job by that DB knocking it away.
10:59Move to his right.
11:02Fires on the move.
11:03And he gets it away.
11:05This is a point where you've just got to be able to focus.
11:08And the critical down and distances in this game, like that third down right there, when it's a good throw,
11:12you've got to make the catch.
11:14You've got to be able to make that play.
11:18They booted away on fourth down.
11:21And the ball comes to rest right there.
11:23And that is a huge play in terms of field position.
11:27Nice job by the punter.
11:29And how about the gunners getting downfield and down that ball?
11:35To the back.
11:37Surged ahead for a couple there.
11:39There it will be second and eight.
11:41It's only a two-yard gain on first down there for the offense.
11:44But they want to keep pounding and they want to keep getting this run going.
11:48They believe they can wear this defense down.
11:50And these two-yard gains, they think are going to turn into explosive plays the longer this game goes on.
12:04You know, I really like this QB running the football because I know he's got a lot of speed, but
12:09he's not the biggest guy in the world.
12:10So he's not going to be able to break a lot of tackles.
12:13You've really got to do a good job of trying to scheme ways to get him out in more space.
12:21The handoff.
12:23Nice pickup on the ground there.
12:26And they'll move the sticks with the first down.
12:28The Condors come to the line with a fresh set of downs.
12:35Tight end now in motion.
12:44They're going to ride this running back.
12:46They'll knock him down after a pickup of one to the 18.
12:50A lot of ground to cover and they need a chunk here on second down.
12:59Quarterback keep.
13:02Now they've got even more breathing room.
13:05Out to the 31 and a fresh set of downs.
13:08And it'll be the Condors pounded the rock to move the sticks.
13:12Now back to work.
13:16Out of the gun to give to the back.
13:19Found a little space and he's got four to the 35.
13:24Halfway there on first down and second and five.
13:31Just feeds the running back.
13:33He'll be brought down quickly after a very short game.
13:37With this offense we know they want to run the ball.
13:40The defense is ready for that.
13:41And they've been preparing for that all week long.
13:43Really nice job there in the front seven.
13:46Standing their ground.
13:47Fighting off the blocks.
13:48And limiting that carry to a small game.
13:51They'll make the stop about a yard short of the first down.
13:56We'll take a quick break here.
13:58Two minutes to play in the first half.
14:00The Condors will bring the punt team onto the field.
14:03He's going to try to flip the field with this one.
14:11Fields the punt.
14:13He gets a block.
14:15Really nice job all the way around.
14:17Got a few blocks.
14:18Made a couple of moves and a good return on that one before he's pushed out of bounds.
14:23The Bulls offense comes out ready to go to work.
14:26They've gotten very little done on their first three possessions.
14:29Hoping this one will be more productive.
14:34Out wide left to Totem.
14:37And he got five yards on the play.
14:39Second and five coming.
14:41Picked up five on that last pass play.
14:43Now it's second and five.
14:46Timed it perfectly to knock it free.
14:49And forces the third down.
14:50And that's your goal.

14:54Try to get your shoulder in there on the catch point.
14:56And really give him something to think about.

15:17The defense did a really good job playing the pass.

15:20It's decision time for you.
15:22He gets it out to the 17.
15:24The cover unit right there to make the stop.

15:30As they take over here in the final two minutes of the hat.

16:03And he froze that defender.
16:05He thought he was going to pitch it.

16:21Just not what it needed to be on that play.
16:24They don't need a bunch on second down.

17:40And they're going to call a timeout and talk it over instead.
17:44And they won't be able to stop the clock again for the remainder of this half.
17:48And it'll be the Condors have it with the first and ten.

17:59This defense turning up the intensity.
18:01That is an example of a defender just stepping up and making a play.
18:06Just gave up a big completion down the field.
18:08That's not going to happen again.
18:09That's not happening on my watch.
18:10Right away, that D-lineman decides to go after the key beat.
18:14And he makes a big play.
18:16The pass is incomplete.
18:17And the clock will stop with five seconds left.
18:20And it's third down.
18:22But they're going to go ahead and try the field goal and try to get points before the break.

18:34And that'll put the first points of the game on the board.

18:38They have so many more times we're going to say go for it.

19:13We kick things off with Arkansas taking on the number three team, the Georgia Bulldogs.
19:20And it's the Razorbacks, eyeing a second win after the opening week loss.
19:26They're on top here in the first half.
19:29Here now some other games you may have interest in.

19:39And a lot of coaches will say limiting the big plays and maybe hitting on a few yourself is key.
19:45But I'm more of a move to change, Scott.
19:48Give me efficiency every day of the week and twice on Saturday.
19:52The offensive unit that subscribes to the less is more philosophy might be the one that leaves here today with
19:59a big fat W.
20:01And with that, let's send it back to the guys inside Raymond James Stadium.

20:20He'll put total other and get this second half started.

20:33Tackle and brought down at the 16-yard line after the return.
20:39The Condors make their way onto the field to open this drive.
20:43They open this third quarter on top and they built the lead on the strength of that running game.
20:48And they made a huge statement too.

20:51And the quarterback goes down at the 11-yard line.
20:56Man, this is exactly what you needed to see from this defense to start the second half.
21:00If you're down, you've got to create some momentum.
21:03You've got to get your offense a little bit excited.
21:05Nice job creating the sack.
21:07Perfect start to the second half of this defense.
21:20The Condors trying to find their way forward after the big loss on the last play.
21:29Looking for a man.
21:30It's right.
21:31Unloads to the wideout.
21:33Oh, it's kicked off.
21:35Oh, that's not the way to start a drive.
21:48South Florida has it back and the Bulls' offense will return to the field.
21:52So the turnover sets up their first drive this second half and they'll have an opportunity to take the lead.

22:35And that third down pass left a vapor trail, but it's incomplete.
22:38They'll send out the kicker to try to salvage this drive.

22:46And the three ball gives us a tie.
22:49And that's a really good response by this defense.
22:52Their offense throws an interception.
22:54Puts them in bad field position.
22:56They respond with a stop.
22:58Force a field goal.
22:59Yeah, they got three points.
23:00But great job by this defense.
23:07And he'll return it and try to get behind his blockers.
23:10Didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage.
23:13And he'll be stopped at the 17.
23:15The Condors make their way onto the field to open this drive.
23:20They haven't really been able to light up this scoreboard, but putting points up would be huge here.
23:27Didn't find a lot of room.
23:29Let's give him two out to the 20.
23:31After picking up a couple at second and eight.
23:40They give it back to him.
23:43Found a little bit of running room.
23:44Not down at the 24 after a pickup of four.
23:48And those plays from a defensive perspective, man, they're just super annoying.
23:52Because now I'm in the worst spot ever.
23:55Third and managing.
23:56Like, I don't know if you're passing, don't know if you're running.
23:58So, nice job by this offense, keeping this defense off balance and creating a third down opportunity that's in their
24:05favor.
24:05And it'll be the Condors have it with a first and ten.
24:17Going with the ground game left.
24:20All over him in the backfield.
24:22He'll lose three on the play.
24:24Couldn't get him blocked on that last one.
24:27And now it's second and 14.
24:30They'll go to the counterplay.
24:32Defense in the right spot.
24:34They stop him after a gain of two to the 28.
24:38Well, this offense continues to go back to the running game.
24:41But on that one, not a lot of place to go if you're the running back.
24:45The offensive line has got to do a better job getting some push and opening up some holes for this
24:51back.
24:51Going downfield for the big play.
24:54And that one's incomplete.
24:56They weren't just trying to move the chains.
24:58They were trying to move the scoreboard.
25:00Instead, it's fourth down.
25:02The Condors will punt this one away.
25:05Let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this one.
25:09On the return.
25:12He's got great speed.
25:13He was working his way toward midfield.
25:16But they'll stop him at the 46-yard line.
25:20This USF offense will open this drive right here.
25:23And points have been hard to come by in this one.
25:26They'll try to put together a drive.

25:32Coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains.
25:36And when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down, man, you are doing just that.

25:42Now looking at a second and two.

25:46Oh, pressure's coming.
25:48Just a bit of a misfire there.
25:50They can't make the connection.
25:53And that was good defense again.
25:55And unfortunately, we've been saying that all game long.
25:58Really, really good defense.
26:00Or, listen, you can spin on the other side.
26:02This offense has really been bad.
26:05Bies time to his left.
26:08And the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down.
26:11And this offense stays aggressive.
26:13And they pass the football.
26:15I think you can always look back and say, third and short, I'd love for you to run it.
26:18Be the more physical team.
26:20But nice job sticking up and bowing their necks for this defense.
26:26The Condors make their way onto the field to open this drive.
26:30They weren't able to move it on their last possession.
26:33Ended up hunting it away.
26:34But now in a tight game, another opportunity for this offense.
26:38Didn't even get started.
26:40He'll be dropped for a loss of three.
26:43A negative play to open the drive.
26:45Let's see what they've got on second and 14.
26:51On the option.
26:53And they've got him for a safety.
26:55Well, he was trying his best to get out of the end zone.
26:58But the penetration up front is what got that safety for the defense.
27:01And shooting their gaps, winning the one-on-ones.
27:03There was nowhere for that guy to go.
27:16So after giving up the deuce on the safety,
27:18now they'll be able to kick it away without a rush from the 20.
27:23Trying to take him back.
27:31South Florida ready to send the offense back onto the field.
27:35Another opportunity here.
27:36They had to punt it on their last possession.
27:38But this time, tight game.
27:40Hoping to get something on the board.
27:42Really good job to pick up a chunk of yardage
27:45and get it out to the 39-yard line.

27:52Here we go.

27:54Let's go.

27:56Looking to pass.
27:57Grabbed in the middle.

28:00Just gashing this defense.
28:01A big gainer to the 40-yard line.
28:09And the Bulls come to the line on the heels of that big pass play.
28:15Fake to the back.
28:16Wants to throw it.
28:19On the move.
28:21He'll pull it down and run.
28:23Nice run there.
28:24Picked up a few.
28:25And they'll force him out of bounds.
28:27And I think this is important for this defense.
28:29This will be a big key in the football game.
28:31Like, I got to limit the damage from that guy.
28:34Because that's a QB that's dynamic.
28:35And he can make so many big plays.
28:38I got to string him out.
28:39I got to make him get to the sideline.
28:40But I will say this.
28:41I do want to hit him at the end of the run.
28:42I don't want to let him out of bounds
28:44and let him get free carries.
28:45I want it to be physical.
28:47I like the thought process here by the offense here in the second half.
28:50Obviously, you've got the lead.
28:52Now, you want to grind the clock out, right?
28:54How do you do that?
28:55Well, you run the football.
28:56And they've been doing a good job of that here in the first drive of the second half.
29:01Letting this offensive line sort of take this thing over
29:04really put a lot of pressure on the defense.
29:14Well, you knew you were going to see it in this game.
29:17Throwing the go route to one of the fastest players in all of college football.
29:21This receiver strikes fear in the heart of every defense
29:24because he's got elite track speed.
29:28He's going to blow the combine up in the 40-yard dash because of his wheels.
29:33Here in the third quarter, you're seeing the defense
29:35and how much pride they take on being physical.
29:38It's not just stopping the run.
29:40Guys in the back end flying to the football in the air.
29:43Getting hits on guys, that time on the receiver, knocking it loose.
29:47And you want a touchdown and you want to be aggressive.
29:50But, man, right down the middle, that obviously gives me some confidence
29:53down the road that I can trust this guy.
30:06Fielded in the end zone.
30:07It's Kane.
30:08He's brought down at the 16.

34:54It'll bring up fourth down as his defense makes a play.
34:59And his defense has got to be jacked up.

35:03They've gotten a couple of first downs, got some things going,
35:06but I think it's decision time for this offense.

35:32and punt it away, count on your defense, not this guy.
35:35He was going to take some shots,
35:36count on his own guys to get it done,
35:38and now with that touchdown late,
35:40they've got a two-possession lead.
