Dodo editor Monica tells the story of how his foster mom Desiree slowly earned his trust, until one day, when she left the door open, Billy found the courage to venture outside on his own just to be near her.

00:00This rescuer pulled over as fast as she could when she literally saw a dog laying in the middle of

00:06the road.

00:09Inches from being run over, Santi, the rescuer with Bolly Paws, was able to get this puppy off the road.

00:15She could tell right away that he wasn't looking good.

00:18So they headed straight to the clinic.

00:23He was in pretty bad shape and when anyone would come near him, he would shake uncontrollably.

00:29But Bolly Paws wasn't giving up on him.

00:32She took him back to the shelter where Santi's sister Desiree immediately fell in love with Billy.

00:37It was so heartbreaking to see him.

00:39He was just so scared of humans.

00:42I put him in my office and left him there and I thought, okay, I'm just going to leave him

00:46there and go in, give him food multiple times a day.

00:50Until a few days later, when she heard the faintest cries coming from his room.

00:56So I'm cleaning up the garden right now and he just kept backing.
