00:00Didn't coach well enough, didn't play well enough.
00:02We'll get to whether or not Todd Munkin deserves more blame coming up here in a little bit.
00:07You know, I think this call might set me up very well.
00:11It just says here, and it's an itch I have to scratch after this loss yesterday.
00:15Let me get to Jim in Syracuse.
00:17Hello, Jim.
00:18Ken, I love you.
00:20I think you got to relax a little bit.
00:22I mean, yes, they got their tailpipes handed to them yesterday.
00:26Yesterday, we're still the youngest or one of the youngest teams in the league.
00:31Let's learn from it.
00:33Let's live it.
00:34But Pittsburgh isn't going to be there forever.
00:37They're old.
00:38And I think in the next couple of years, we go by.
00:41We've been saying, I mean, we've been saying that for a decade.
00:44But Jim, how long have you been listening to the show today?
00:48Since the very start.
00:49I never miss you guys on a Monday morning.
00:51I do appreciate that.
00:53But I think you're calling the wrong show then.
00:55I think I've been pretty calm.
00:56I mean, I've been sitting there going, no, you've got to go down to New Orleans.
00:59If you go down to New Orleans and get a win, not all is forgiven.
01:02But you're 6-3.
01:03And I think we're doing a lot better.
01:05But I'm not.
01:06I still think this is a 10-win team.
01:09Jared Burst shouldn't have talked like he did.
01:11Everybody on that team should learn from it and live with it and make the proper adjustments,
01:17including Jared Burst.
01:19Okay.
01:19Jim, I thank you very much for the call and for listening.
01:22Because this is not me losing.
01:25Have you thought I've lost my mind today?
01:27No.
01:28No.
01:28In fact, I guarantee what will happen is there will be some that will say you should lose
01:33your mind more.
01:34Oh, I'm glad you brought that up.
01:35Because I think at 2 o'clock, I want to hear Nick Wilson say that Tom Munkin needs to be
01:39fired.
01:40Fired?
01:40Fired?
01:41Yeah.
01:42I think that he should be saying that Tom Munkin needs to be fired.
01:44Deshaun Watson needs to be benched.
01:46That Andrew Barry needs to be fired.
01:47And maybe they should even just move the franchise.
01:51Right?
01:52Because I wasn't making a big enough deal about the end of the world yesterday.
01:55All last week, I kept getting called out.
01:57And I tried to ignore it as best I could.
01:59And then Friday, it reached its great crescendo of me getting called out for not making a big
02:05enough deal about the Steelers.
02:06I've never in my life heard anybody on this station downplay a game.
02:11In the 7 o'clock hour this morning, I heard somebody say, this would be a bigger game if
02:15the Browns were a one or two win team.
02:17How have you lost the plot so tremendously that you play down rivalries consistently that
02:23a game where literally first place in the division, which we haven't won since most people
02:29weren't alive listening.
02:31The idea that we have to downplay this game to protect all of our feelings because, oh,
02:35callers might be upset on Monday.
02:38Not social media.
02:40Oh, we should just forget this game's happening.
02:43Can we just all watch the Bills and Ravens?
02:45And then what we'll do is we'll just look at the box score at 4 o'clock.
02:48And if the Browns won, Super Bowl!
02:52Super!
02:53And if they lose, wow, we're on to New Orleans.
02:56Should the Browns trade for Tyler Shuck next year?
02:59That's where we're going to be.
03:00Because this game doesn't matter.
03:01It's just one game, you know, in the grand cosmos of life.
03:05It's just one Sunday.
03:07What a bunch of nutless crap that I've heard all week on the station.
03:12Okay, I want to hear that energy at 2 o'clock.
03:14I'm serious.
03:15Guys, I'm very serious about this.
03:17I want the guy who said they were going to win eight or nine games, but somehow made a
03:22week eight matchup against Pittsburgh, life or death?
03:24The Super Bowl.
03:25So I either...
03:26Actually, I don't believe what you said in the summer, and I really don't believe what you
03:29said last week, because if that game was that big, and then you went down there and you
03:33played the way you played yesterday, I want Nick, who went after us all week last week.
03:39We're not making a big enough deal about the rivalry.
03:42We're not making a big enough deal about this.
03:43Well, since the game was life or death, I want him to call for Todd Munkin's job today
03:48at 2.
03:49Guys, I know Todd's been a pretty good coach.
03:51We're 5-3.
03:52Things are nice.
03:53I'm sorry.
03:54I don't make the rules.
03:54I guess he's got to be fired now, according to Nick.
03:57I guess he's got to be fired.
03:59Guys, I hate to do this.
04:01All right?
04:01We got to look for a new head coach.
04:02Who do you want to be their interim head coach?
04:04If we still even have a team by the end of the week.
04:06Maybe we should just lose the franchise again.
04:08Maybe they should just move.
04:10What are we going to do now?
04:11Because the season's over.
04:12I don't know why I got caught talking about New Orleans.
04:14The season's over.
04:16So there's no discussion to have.
04:18This was a one-week season, if you listened to that show last week.
04:21This was the only thing that mattered in the world.
04:23Because they were...
04:231 o'clock game.
04:25They were 5-2, but you say they're going to win nine games.
04:28But somehow yesterday was the end of the earth.
04:32I got to know which one it is.
04:35I got to know.
04:37Or do we just not remember things we said back in the summertime?
04:40Is that it?
04:42Deshaun Watson clearly needs to be benched, according to him.
04:44I'd like to hear that.
04:47I'm serious.
04:48I want it.
04:49You know, you let me have it all week.
04:52Called me out all week.
04:54I didn't make a big enough deal about the rivalry.
04:56I didn't make a big enough deal about this, that, or the other.
04:58I'm downplaying.
04:59Said he felt sorry for us because we don't take anything seriously.
05:04I did forget because, you know, regular season Browns games are the most important things in Nick's life when it
05:10comes to Cleveland sports, clearly.
05:11As we found out a few weeks ago in the postseason with the Guardians.
05:16So, I should have known that.
05:17That, I guess, we're still standing on our business about.
05:20But, I expect fully at 2 o'clock, guys, that it should be Fire Coach Radio.
05:25Because yesterday was the penultimate game, or the ultimate game.
05:29And so, this is now the fallout.
05:32And so, now, it needs to be Fire Coach Radio at 2 in the afternoon today.
05:37I didn't make the big deal about it.
05:39He did.
05:39So, there's got to be a fallout.
05:41There's got to be a heavy price to pay, and I'm sorry, I guess Todd Munkin needs to lose his
05:45job, according to Nick.
05:47And Andrew Barry does, too.
05:48And maybe they need to lose the franchise.
05:49Do you think it's just because, as much as he had said he thought they were going to win all
05:53these games, even though he thought they'd win zero with Deshaun Watson.
05:56Whatever.
05:57I mean, I didn't think they'd be good with Deshaun Watson.
05:59And I didn't think they'd win a lot of games.
06:01So, I gave Nick credit for, you know, making sure to see that, hey, these young guys, he thought they
06:08were going to hit the ground running.
06:09They did.
06:10So, Nick was right.
06:10So, I gave him credit.
06:12I just didn't understand why a team that had won five of six, like, you know, the Browns, when did
06:19they ever, you know, when are they ever able to roll that off?
06:22Why this game was life or death.
06:24Guys.
06:24And then, what, the next one would have been life or death, and then the next one, and then the
06:27next one.
06:28Like, this team has more wins than anybody really thought they would have with Deshaun Watson as a quarterback at
06:35this stage of the season.
06:37You know, they had given themselves some margin for error with a win over that same team.
06:42Not according to what I heard on Friday afternoon.
06:44There's no margin for error.
06:45There is no tomorrow.
06:46If you listen to Nick last week, he acted like it was an elimination game.
06:51And that nothing that happened before that game meant anything.
06:54None of the good stuff we had seen from Watson in the fourth quarter.
06:58None of the good stuff we had seen from, you know, these rookie wide receivers.
07:03None of it mattered.
07:04It was all going to be a one-week season.
07:06And it's like, that's just not how the league works.
07:08It's just not.
07:10I know that.
07:11And he should know that.
07:12Well, he doesn't.
07:13He's done this long enough.
07:14Come on.
07:15But he doesn't.
07:15He just gets swept up in the emotion.
07:17I hope so.
07:17I can't just act like Nick doesn't watch the league and see how teams have bad weeks.
07:23I just.
07:24Teams in a rematch.
07:27It's tough to beat a team twice in a season.
07:31Especially when you're the Browns.
07:32It's like, you're not some team that's been christened as the top of the AFC.
07:37And they're here to stay.
07:38Like, they got young talent.
07:40And they had probably played a little over their skis.
07:42We're excitable people.
07:43We've done Super Bowl, Super Browns into the hill as long as we have been on the air together.
07:49And that was born out of 1-15, actually, oddly enough.
07:53Like, we're excitable guys.
07:55And you put two and two together over this last week.
07:58And you're going, yeah, you got a good young roster.
08:00And I still stand by it.
08:00I think the youth on this football team is better than the youth on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
08:04That's something I won't take back.
08:05I disagreed with what our friends over at the fan in Pittsburgh were saying.
08:09But I saw this week coming.
08:11And I'm going, they haven't won in a long time in that city, in that stadium, during the regular season.
08:18You have a lot of guys saying some things.
08:21They're a very young team.
08:22You're playing against vets.
08:23And they are a hot team.
08:25They had not lost since they played you.
08:27There's a lot of things that don't add up to you winning that football game.
08:31And so, yeah, I was, and I stand by it still.
08:34I thought coming back at 5-3 wouldn't be the end of the world.
08:39So, no, I don't think Todd Munkin should be fired.
08:41Can't say that about the afternoon show.
08:43I don't think Andrew Barrett should lose his job.
08:45Can't say that about the afternoon show.
08:47Don't think they should be moving as a franchise.
08:49I have no idea what they're going to say in the afternoon.
08:52But I still stand by it going, yeah, what's going to be more important after this loss,
08:55and it was a bad loss, a really bad loss, ugly.
08:58What's going to be more important is that they are all looking each other in the eyes
09:03and they figure out a way to build themselves up again and go down to New Orleans
09:08with some humility and beat the Saints on the road and get back here at 6-3.
09:13I don't know how they're going to do that, Ken, considering today's locker clean-out day
09:16and they've got exit interviews.
09:17Well, hey, listen.
09:18Are we going to be carrying those live on 92.3 The Fan?
09:20We're going to have to find a way to rise and continue with the show
09:25and continue with the football team some way, somehow.
09:30Of all the games.
09:31I don't know what they're going to do with all that gear,
09:33and they've got to stop the building of that stadium over there now
09:35because that's the end of that.
09:36I don't know what they're going to do.
09:37They're going to have to fill up that giant hole they created.
09:43I guess we can play soccer over there or something
09:45because the team doesn't exist anymore.
09:49I'm sorry.
09:52Hey, I wasn't the one shooting my mouth off last week.
09:56Well, he didn't guarantee a win, did he?
09:58I don't know what he guaranteed or not.
10:00All I know is that I was getting our boss and a couple other people going,
10:03you seeing what they're saying?
10:04I go, I see exactly what they're saying.
10:06I hear it.
10:06He might have ran out of time on Friday to guarantee a win
10:09because they're spending five hours ripping us for not making it the Super Bowl.
10:13Well, he's right about it.
10:14If they would have won, I'd have came in here and done Super Bowl, Super Browns.
10:17They would have surprised me.
10:18I did not think that they were going to win.
10:19And I would have been surprised and I would have been like, my God,
10:23they are further along than where I thought they would ever be when it comes to maturity.
10:27They said all these things and they went down to Pittsburgh and they beat that team for the first time.
10:31And it's not because Pittsburgh's bad.
10:33They went to Pittsburgh and they beat that team for the first time since 2003 in the regular season.
10:37And holy wow, we're 6-2.
10:39This is some real stuff here.
10:40And what do I define as real?
10:42A real contention going to Pittsburgh and winning at 6-2 and being 6-2, that's real.
10:47You could still be a playoff team and I think that that would be fantastic.
10:50But now it becomes really important because Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh,
10:54let's be honest as Browns fans, you've gotten used, you don't like it,
10:58but you got used to them losing in Pittsburgh during the regular season.
11:02They lost in Pittsburgh during the regular season
11:04and went to the postseason here over the last five years.
11:07So that's not a big issue.
11:09But now you've got to go to New Orleans, a team that you should be better than,
11:14and on the road, and that place can be loud,
11:16and hopefully there will be a lot of Browns fans going down there,
11:19and you've got to start hot and win that football game.
11:22Because, yes, my attitude will change sorely to more of a panicked attitude,
11:28to more of a sadder, scared attitude on Monday morning
11:32if they go down to New Orleans and lose that football game.
11:35Because now you're starting to build and now you might be in your own head.
11:38Like you got into your own head because you said all those things the week
11:41leading up to the Pittsburgh game, and then you're pushing and shoving down 21
11:44because there's nothing else that you can do.
11:46And if your point was all last week that the Browns better understand the rivalry,
11:52and then you're the team that does all these uncharacteristic things this week,
11:58like three taunts, we haven't been doing that all year,
12:00now all of a sudden it's like they fed off Nick's energy.
12:04Hey, Nick, you should be happy.
12:05They did what you wanted.
12:06They went down with a fight.
12:08They treated the rivalry like a really big deal, so much so that the Steelers
12:12used that against them because they were in their heads,
12:15and they so much played that up.
12:17So Nick should be happy.
12:19Did Nick know he had that kind of a clout with the football team?
12:21Cost them the game.
12:22I mean, they got their asses kicked because they lacked the maturity
12:25to handle that situation.
12:27But that's exactly what happened.
12:28They did what Nick wanted them to do.
12:30They treated the rivalry like they treated that game like it was the biggest deal
12:33in the world.
12:33Because what happened, and it's unfortunate to say this,
12:36you dealt with a lot of veterans.
12:37And the veterans were going to come to a fight too.
12:40But you know what happened?
12:41How many fights did you get into in middle school?
12:44Bunch?
12:44Yeah, more in high school.
12:45Like I said, this show has probably been hit in the mouth more than every other
12:48show combined.
12:49Okay?
12:50We've all been in fist fights.
12:51We've all got hit in the teeth.
12:53And when you're a kid, when you're young and immature, you get so mad you don't
12:58know what to do.
12:59So you're just like, I'm going to swing.
13:00I'm going to kick your ass.
13:02And then you start fighting in the front yard.
13:04And we tried to do that yesterday.
13:06The problem is that when you get older and you take on a guy who knows how to fight
13:10and treats it as an event that he's got to win or a threat that he has to end,
13:15guys who know how to do it, they're going to neutralize that situation.
13:19So I can be all mad all I want.
13:22But if a guy who's actually been inside an octagon or been inside a boxing ring
13:25knows what he's doing, I can't do anything about my anger.
13:27And that's what happened yesterday.
13:29These are veterans who had been there before.
13:31These are guys that are led by guys who have won the ultimate there, who know how
13:35long this season is, and who knew that they shouldn't be shooting their mouths
13:39off.
13:40And one team took care of the other one, and the other team went in there, and they
13:44didn't know what to do, so they reacted emotionally.
13:47And they went out and embarrassed themselves.
13:48A bunch of penalties, pushing and a shoving, then bitching about dirty play afterwards
13:53after having your ass handed to you?
13:58I'm not mad.
13:59I really, really, really hope it was a learning experience from them.
14:03Because now you know what it takes to be a competitive team.
14:07You've got to grow up from this moment.
14:09If we even have a game next Sunday, because I don't know what's going to happen this
14:13afternoon, but you better pack it up and get the hell on out of here, apparently.
14:18I'm worried, because you know he's going to take that frustration out on them and how
14:22they played.
14:23And so now the Saints game's even bigger to him.
14:26And he's going to want Deshaun Watson benched if they lose that game immediately.
14:32Loser Leafs-style match, apparently.
14:34Made every big deal about it, and they went out there and they embarrassed you.
14:37They made you look like a fool, and so you should be ripping him and calling for people's
14:40jobs today.
14:41Because that was the end of the season there yesterday.
14:45Sorry.
14:46I guess Todd's just not the guy.
14:48I thought he was.
14:49I'm really going to miss him.
14:50I'm really going to miss him.
14:52I'm really going to miss talking to him during the week.
14:54This is going to suck.
14:55This is really going to suck.
14:58I don't know.
14:58Maybe Deuce Staley can finish out the season, or we'll just pick up another sport.
15:03Coming up next, Lima Likes.
15:05What Lima like?
15:06What he didn't like.
15:07Coming up in what?
15:08Hey, do you got anything over there?
15:09You can just give me a little bit of a taste.
15:11Yeah.
15:12First taste is free.
15:13Ryan Day.
15:15Six and four in his last ten, and should be five and five.
15:19We'll get to that.
15:20That's in five on the fan.
