00:18we've got some intricacies and important plays you might have missed from the cowboys season
00:22saving win over the eagles and i wanted to use that highlight in particular because that was the
00:28end play of sequence one that i thought was super important for this cowboys team so you had just
00:35seen philly with a banged up saquon barkley just move the ball with no issue whatsoever however they
00:46wanted four plays 75 yards touchdown now you're trailing seven to three and if you're the offense
00:52you got to be like oh crap but that sequence of plays you didn't have to worry about your poor
00:58third down getting off the field on third down because they didn't even have a third man that
01:02is the saddest possible variation of that you're right it was like it didn't go third down yeah
01:07so for the cowboys on the flip side let's start with this it's third and eight from the dallas 31
01:12only the fourth play of the drive so if you don't convert right here you settle for a field goal
01:20although i i i like the idea to keep the field goal on the board you take a field goal
01:25the eagles
01:25offense destroys your defense and then you might be looking at a four play drive in which then you
01:32have to punt the ball and so that's why first off i thought the flannoy he got wide open it
01:39was a
01:39great route on that third and eight that feels like they sorely needed that first down even though it
01:45was super early in the game and then javante williams gets a five yard run and then he gets a
01:5212 yard
01:53run in which he broke two tackles and then it legitimately took five eagles players to take
02:01him down they just kept piling up because you're like nope nope no okay we got him and so then
02:07that
02:07puts you first in 10 at the 17 three yard carry by goodson five yard carry by goodson setting up
02:13a
02:13third and two and i will admit i thought it might have been a good time to call another run
02:19play
02:19but clearly the cowboys did a great job great pass great catch by cd lamb makes it 10 to 7
02:27and that
02:28from flannoy on down you saw the power of flannoy getting that first uh getting that first down and
02:35then the efficient run game chips you down the field and then you finish it up with cd i thought
02:40that drive was monumentally important in setting the tone for the win yeah or at least making sure you
02:47didn't fall way behind he said we've never run the ball again and didn't like didn't that's the end
02:52of the first quarter there right yep so like you took off you took the rest of the first quarter
02:57away from the eagles also by being effective with your run game um i just yeah i thought that pass

03:05a great cap for it all and to be able to do that after you kind of walked down the
03:13field and had to hit
03:13kick a field goal and you're like crap you know we had to settle for this field goal but let's

03:18to be one of those kind of games let's not do it from 70 yards out right you don't have

03:23uh and then giving up the touchdown again you showed you weren't going to be impatient with your running
03:29game right uh but you also showed that you're still effective with your passing game and i thought
03:33that was that was a really good drive man would you like to go next yeah i can do that
03:37um first off so
03:42your guards in this game guards had all pro days absolutely they basically just washed jordan davis
03:53and jalen carter out of this game you know what's really fun about that is i can't remember somebody
03:58from a national media source was tweeting out last night it's like he is tyler smith is just so
04:05unbelievable but after the game quentin williams was like tyler booker is the best offensive lineman
04:11in the league and i love that you're like oh tough choice across the board isn't there like uh when
04:16tyler booker came out at alabama he said i love to watch the life uh the love for the game

04:25of their souls uh and he like he said that i love to watch the fear go away too and
04:31that was basically
04:32jalen carter was just like i he he kept smartened off too out of georgia right i don't have any

04:38i fear nothing right he was basically talking smack to booker there you're like okay it's like traffic
04:43law and yeah oh yeah well is he scared of those who knows but one step after another he put

04:49over jalen carter and at one point carter got mad and did make booker whiff and then just started
04:57grabbing everybody that he could see in a white jersey and like he just grabbed brevan spanned forward
05:01was like i'm just grabbing you because i don't i can't do it he could do nothing and then he

05:07got switched over to the other side they were like you cannot defeat tyler booker today so we're going
05:12to put you on the other side and tyler smith was like are you serious right now good luck trying

05:18come after me too so that was that was the big deal but this big package kevin with broderick jones
05:25uh is the one that created the beauty run of the night and i know the it's beautiful to watch

05:32football players try to tackle one guy and they can't but this one was the probably it was the
05:38biggest run of the night fourth quarter 13 28 remaining second and two jones reports in as tackle
05:44eligible the rush is to the left side tyler smith and cooper bb crash in on jordan davis who is
05:52lined up in
05:52the a gap so he's lined up in the a gap and tyler smith both they take him out of
05:56the play smith
05:58pulls off of davis and kind of has nobody around him and he's like i'm not exactly sure what to
06:03do
06:03right now and just starts looking for people in green shirts and he's like if you're wearing a green
06:07shirt i'm going to try to i'm going to try to wear your shirt i'm going to just take it
06:11off of you
06:11and bully you the same way guyton back uh comes back down though because tyler guyton and broderick jones
06:19they they they kind of do it's funny it kind of looks like a game that they're playing like a
06:24stunt that they're running because tyler guyton pulls around and broderick jones who is on the
06:30outside tight end area to tyler guyton's left he comes crashing down uh on the inside on jeremiah
06:38trotter jr and then is it a becca evakite uh he pulls him along with him so now he's got
06:45two guys
06:45well then tyler guyton comes back down and pummels him out of the play so now you got both
06:52and he's pushing him towards the hashes jones is pushing trotter out towards the sideline
06:56and flannoy gobbles up cooper de jean and says you're not going anywhere creates a wide open
07:02running lane for 34 yards now this was great patience on javante's part to wait for that play
07:09to develop that can be tough it dude it's such a slow too fast through is what you always are
07:15teaching running backs you got to let that play in front of you develop otherwise you're not going
07:19to have the blocking space you're just going to run into dudes right and so for him to have that
07:23but
07:23also really cool design to take advantage of there's only three defenders on that side
07:28and you use four offensive linemen to essentially take those three defenders out the math problems we
07:33talk about it so many times that's what's happening right now with defenses they're lining up math
07:38problems across the board for you and telling you to figure out the equation before the snap
07:42so they did that really well essentially play games with them on keep them off balance while running
07:47away from the eagles to better run defenders also so they're running away from it but after the game
07:52kevin there's uh the i think the or maybe it was the next morning they put a picture of that
08:01up in
08:02tyler guyton's uh oh locker and he was like i'm proud of that one i'm proud of that one if
08:08only javante had breakaway speed uh because because he got going and if he had breakaway speed
08:17that's a touchdown right uh but he's he's a he is what you consider a good running back he was
08:23going to find those holes and pick up the five yards that you need he's doing that consistently
08:28throughout the game and he's gonna he'll be there doing the work that it takes but that one was a
08:32really crafty design i like the way they did it it created great space for him to get that kevin
08:38the other thing to add on to your your guards playing at all pro level a remember this they
08:45did this both in the run game and the pass game there was not a lot of blitzing so i
08:52still need to
08:52see how much better this offensive line is getting at communicating what's going on with the blitz and
08:58what they're going to do there because it wasn't a lot of blitzing uh in that game a couple nights
09:02ago but it's the two-point conversion with dak prescott that you talked about it yesterday i showed
09:09you this morning if you want to know the true value of hunter lipke and i do it is for
09:15him to block that
09:16one linebacker uh on the two-point conversion because the rest of the offensive line absolutely
09:22ate every soul that they saw and there that was wide open for dak prescott sure it was a bit
09:28of a
09:28surprise because of the play design but even better your offensive lineman tyler guyton just takes his
09:35guy out of the play completely tyler smith says nobody's getting near my quarterback and then that
09:40your your three in the middle were probably as good as you've ever seen him play i love it now
09:46i got two more if we have time sounds good i mean i'm looking at the clock seems like okay
09:52the cowboys we talk a lot about all of the long drives the cowboys defense has given up and it
09:58feels
09:58like pretty much every drive except for that first eagles drive that took five seconds but the cowboys
10:04put together one of their own they take a 17 14 lead with a 14 play 81 yard drive that
10:11took 7 48 off the
10:14clock all right so you're like oh great you know offense is imposing their will let's see if the defense
10:19can finally finally do something third and five forcing in completion here we go except it's a pass
10:29interference on caleb downs and by the way that part was really frustrating because at that point
10:36there's 409 left in the second quarter you already had five defensive penalties and this is the third
10:43most penalized defense in the nfl coming into this game but even more agitating than that four of those
10:49penalties went for first downs four first downs off of defensive penalties with still four minutes left
10:57to go or yeah four minutes left to go in the second half now you give them a first down
11:04you had already
11:06given up two touchdowns and two drives i need something and you get it from three different
11:13players on three consecutive plays elijah garcia with the absolute run stuff that felt like the
11:24dictionary definition of a run stuff right there so now second down what happens we made reference to
11:31display yesterday demar me on over shown just sheds the chip attempt by pierce like it's nothing and
11:37knocks down the pass and so you're like boom two negative plays for the offense and on third down
11:43what do you get tight coverage by joey porter jr in the pass breakup it was the first time the
11:49defense
11:49showed you that they could do anything in this game now i want to move forward i don't think tanner
11:55mckee wanted to go to porter's area like ultimately absolutely he was like let me try and avoid him if
12:00at all
12:01possible i don't think i'm going to throw an interception but i don't think it's going to be
12:04a completion either which how great is that that if you can force read read read now i got to
12:08go
12:08against porter that feels like a win most of the time for the cow it's a it's it's yeah in
12:14that
12:14situation on third down for sure but this felt like the defining stand for the defense because it set
12:23off a chain of events that ended the game there's 123 left in the third quarter you catch a break
12:30because philly gets a holding call okay so it's first and 17 at the philly eight after a hold
12:37the pocket absolutely collapses and ezraku gets a sack the first sack for either team now did you
12:44think it was a sack or did you think tanner mckee like fell back into him i think i think
12:49that when i
12:51was watching it ezraku still probably needed to be on the edge sealing that off just a little bit but
12:56he was pushed kind of towards the middle of the play and mckee walked directly into him but
13:02sack is a sack and he could have let him run that's true and you still had good pressure on
13:08that
13:08play oh yeah you did and the big thing there was you actually finished the play because we've talked
13:13about good pressure a ton from this team the last three weeks and still been like but it sucks they
13:17still got 12 yards and got a first down second play now it's second and 20 from the philly five
13:24more pressure quick throw to makai lemon for five yards because tanner mckee was under pressure and
13:30you're like third and 15 i can live with it now this play gives you a little something from both
13:35the
13:36good and the bad of this cowboys defense it's third and 15 at the philly 10 you get a good
13:43completion
13:44to dallas goddard but it's still short it's now fourth and two thanks to a good tackle from demarvion
13:54overshone now the bad part about that is in an obvious passing down you still gave up 13 yards which
14:00we saw the last couple of weeks when you're giving up third nines two third and 13s so you still
14:05give
14:05up a chunk of yardage but you have overshone there to make the tackle and that forces fourth and two
14:11and at this point philly's only at their own 23 and i realized dan campbell would be like what are
14:17you
14:18a p go for it right the rest of the league is like obviously i'm gonna punt the ball that
14:23punt right
14:24there that started a defensive run that included after that so you had the punt then an interception
14:31then a forced turnover on downs in those in that drive and then the next two philly drives that
14:37ended the game now i realize it only ended the game because you had the requisite corresponding
14:43offense but that was a huge deal i think kevin you may have been you may have missed this part
14:49that was the moment on that punt that was 16 yards for no gain on the punt mingo on ringo

14:56oh yeah don't forget about the mingo ring was that the mingo play where he probably should have just
15:01let it go and he backtracked and got annihilated out there ringo getting mingo down uh that was uh
15:07yeah you're for sure you're right was it the other mingo play where he was double covered and the ball
15:12was like who's how's he gonna catch that yeah there was uh he didn't have the speed for it exactly
15:17overthrew him for sure i think the thing you saw there kevin on the series both series that you were
15:23talking about there demarvian overshone breeze brings something different to this defense sure he is a
15:28dynamic athletic player that can do a variety of things and i would like to see him do more of
15:34those things rather than being a middle linebacker that just takes on physical contact all the time
15:39use him as that weapon on the outside use him on the inside he can play a little bit of
15:45coverage too
15:46you saw the interception there but when you're trying to say hey go be a middle linebacker and
15:50just stuff the run all day that's not necessarily his thing but he is he brought an energy also to
15:56this
15:56defense that i thought was essential and important and something that they've been lacking for most
