00:00K&C Masterpiece right here on 105.3 The Fan.
00:03It's time for Dallas Cowboys thank you and no thank you notes.
00:07Thank you to Brian Schottenheimer for winning in primetime.
00:10Since the start of last year when he was hired, he had been 1-7-1 in primetime games.
00:16The most losses in the NFL, though I obviously realize the Cowboys are going to play in primetime more than
00:22most any other team.
00:24And of course, thank you to Javante Williams. Career high, 155 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries, 6.2
00:35yards per attempt.
00:36The offensive line deserves a lot of credit.
00:39Tyler Booker got shouted out by Quinn and Williams on the way to the locker room.
00:44I believe he said best damn offensive lineman in the league and that's pretty freaking awesome right there.
00:50Yeah, that offensive line. Thank you, offensive line, for the zero penalties. Can we reiterate that enough?
00:55Yeah, I'm glad that you brought that up. I honestly didn't know that.
00:59Not even a false start among them.
01:01Is that the most annoying one?
01:04Yes.
01:05Yeah.
01:05The hold beats me down, too.
01:07Yeah, I didn't love also, Kevin, this is weird.
01:11No, thank you to the referees for the roughing the passer on the finger that was on the face mask,
01:19which just baffled Troy Aikman.
01:21But then they didn't get the face mask on CeeDee Lamb on the sideline, like on the next series.
01:27And I was like, you guys suck.
01:28Did you like that?
01:30I don't like blaming the referees all the time, but that stunk.
01:32Did you like the quick trigger back and forth with Aikman, where he was like, I don't know how you're
01:37even supposed to play defense.
01:39And they go, oh, okay, I see it.
01:40And then immediately the rules expert is like, if I can play devil's advocate here, Troy.
01:44And I'm like, did you not hear him just change his mind?
01:46But he played devil's advocate to the other side.
01:49I was like, good job, rules guy.
01:51Yeah.
01:52He said the NFL normally doesn't want that penalty called.
01:55I thought that was interesting insight.
01:57Yeah, so that was an interesting no-thank-you note to the referees.
02:04Thank you to Brandon Aubrey for your kickoffs in that 55-yard field goal after, what was it, just a
02:10couple weeks ago?
02:11And we're like, this is unacceptable kickoff play for any kicker, let alone like a highly paid kicker.
02:16Oh, this kickoff, butter, butter, butter, butter, butter, butter.
02:20I think his kickoffs have been a lot better, and he hit a 55-yarder, like, whatever.
02:24Thank you to Brevin Spanford.
02:27For concentration.
02:29That was probably my favorite.
02:30After not concentrating.
02:31That was the most exciting.
02:32Hold on, the tip ball?
02:34Yeah, the one he dropped and then caught again.
02:37The one that got tipped at the line that he was like, yes.
02:40He needed to catch that.
02:41It got tipped by Cooper DeGene, and then he focused and ended up catching that ball.
02:46Hold on, did you watch the play?
02:48It got tipped.
02:49What are you supposed to do when you're running and the ball's now shorter than it's supposed to be?
02:53It was right to him.
02:53It was supposed to be out in front of him.
02:55It was right to him.
02:56Thank you for concentration and making it the most exciting two-yard gain in the history of the world.
03:01Is it because he also needed three people to take him down?
03:05The Marion Barber two-yard gain was the most exciting in the history of the world.
03:08Yeah, that was a big deal.
03:10He's a physical beast out there, and so you've got to like what he's doing, because somebody texted in,
03:16thank you to Jake Ferguson for staying out of the way.
03:20Yeah, man.
03:21I have questions about what he means on this team anymore.
03:27Which is weird.
03:28Is he a better backup tight end than Schoonmaker?
03:32I mean, I think so, yeah.
03:33I think so, too.
03:34So if Brevin Spanford has usurped him, then I'm glad that the team is putting the more talented player out
03:43there.
03:43Agreed.
03:44Instead of going, well, these are our guys.
03:46I know this always makes people agitated, but I will say thank you to Dak Prescott.
03:51Now second place all time on the Cowboys' win list with 86 victories, breaking a tie with Roger Staubach.
03:59So, well done.
04:00Although I know...
04:01Taking down Roger Staubach.
04:02Although I know Dak's like, hey, I need to try to live up to Roger and Troy when it comes
04:07to...
04:08Super Bowls.
04:08Super Bowls.
04:09Are you just going to accept this, that he's taking down Roger Staubach's records?
04:12I think Roger would.
04:14Roger's probably the most excited, right?
04:17Roger loves the Cowboys.
04:18He loves them.
04:20Yeah.
04:21So you're probably...
04:22And he loves the quarterbacks that play for the Cowboys.
04:25Yes.
04:26Very true.
04:26By the way, thank you note to Troy Aikman for being emotional when they were talking about one of their
04:34producers, one of their researchers along the way.
04:38As Joe Buck, you know, stood there.
04:43But Troy Aikman showed some vulnerability.
04:44I like that.
04:45Yeah.
04:45That was nice.
04:46I always feel it's really weird when you go, and as Joe Buck, when you have to go from talking
04:54and discussing that...
04:56Right.
04:56...to now Cowboys second and nine.
04:59You know, it's a weird moment to do that.
05:01Yeah.
05:01But I did appreciate Troy taking that time.
05:04Now, no thank you to all of the early penalties.
05:08With 10.55 to go in the second quarter, Dallas already...
05:14The positive, they already had more rushing yards than their average for the year.
05:18The negative, they had six penalties compared to zero for the Eagles.
05:23Now I have a football question for you.
05:25Well, this is about football, so I appreciate it.
05:29Javante Williams gets the first down, fourth and one, on a four-yard run.
05:36But, I will never understand why on a fourth and one in similar situations, the running back lines up seven
05:43yards behind the line of scrimmage.
05:45I made sure to go back and check.
05:47I realize you want to get up ahead of speed and stuff, but ahead of steam.
05:52It's fourth and one, and he's seven yards behind the line of scrimmage.
05:56That's a good question.
05:59I'd wonder if it gives a variety of lanes to pick from.
06:03Like, if you have a little more space to do that with.
06:07And, Kevin, I'm sorry, I don't have the answer for you on that right now.
06:10Okay.
06:11I'll ask somebody, though.
06:12Okay, please do.
06:14Can you give me...
06:14Alec, can you give me cut number five?
06:16Because we need to hear the audio to go along with this.
06:20We talked about it earlier.
06:21It's a great throw by Dak.
06:23An amazing catch by George Pickens, who did an incredible job of kind of, like, turning or shifting his ankle
06:30to get it in the green as close as conceivably possible.
06:34All right.
06:35Big third down.
06:37Williams to Prescott's left in the gun.
06:40Prescott back.
06:41Has time.
06:41Steps up.
06:42Right side of the end zone.
06:44Pickett.
06:45Right side.
06:46Touchdown.
06:47Perfect throw by Prescott.
06:49Over the top of Andrew McCuba, the safety, for 21 yards.
06:54Oh, what a throw that was.
06:57We can discuss this further tomorrow if you want as well, but no thank you to Dak Prescott for continuing
07:02to struggle on the deep ball.
07:04Um, I'm seeing this more and more from Dak.
07:08He's throwing off his tiptoes.
07:10Right.
07:10And that's not, I don't think that's good for Dak.
07:14Uh, there are moments where he looks like he's trying to place the ball and you can ask Mike Bassick
07:19about trying to place the ball as a thrower.
07:21It's not like trying to put it in a place is different than throwing it to the place.
07:26And it's just, it's a very different mechanism and mechanics with your body.
07:30You want to stay firm, uh, flat footed firm on your, on your feet there as you're pushing off.
07:36And I just see him on both tiptoes a lot of times.
07:39And I don't know why this has come into his game.
07:42And on those throws, Kevin, that you see sailing a little bit or just not as accurate as you'd like,
07:48a lot of times it's because his feet aren't where they're supposed to be.
07:51So he needs to, and this has been going on all season.
07:54Like go back to the first game.
07:55We were talking about this in game one.
07:57So this is something that I'm trying to figure out.
07:59What is, what is it that he's, why are these, why is this part of his mechanics right now?
08:04No, thank you to the Dallas Cowboys defense for giving up a 13 play touchdown drive and a 17 play
08:14touchdown drive.
08:15It's not a good sign when you give up a 13 play seven minute and seven second drive.
08:20And then you find out that will not be the high watermark for Philly either way in this game.
08:27Another one was 17 plays.
08:29Good God.
08:30That was insane.
08:31It really was.
08:32It took nine minutes and 16 seconds.
08:34It was the most plays and the longest length drive of the season for Philadelphia.
08:40And that drive was really agitating because you have the defense give up a third and nine.
08:48And then right after that, what happens?
08:51It's third and 10 in the next series.
08:53The defense gives up a nine yard pass.
08:55So I know technically that doesn't count as a given up third down, but it almost does because then it
09:02puts the Eagles in position where I'm fourth and one.
09:04They're obviously going to go for it where let's say if you got, I don't know, five yards.
09:07You're like, I don't know about this, but I'm fourth and one.
09:10They're probably going to go for it.
09:12And then Bland gets fooled.
09:14And it's an easy 15 yard toss.
09:17To Makai Lemon.
09:18Exactly.
09:18To Makai Lemon.
09:19Lemon, and then you get a third and five.
09:22Looks like the third down defense we're used to now to kick off the third quarter.
09:26Another conversion.
09:28Now, third and three from the six.
09:30I wrote in my notes, not feeling confident.
09:34Oh, no.
09:35Well, I'm sure we all felt the same way.
09:38And then Pierce, easy run, easy conversion.
09:42And then they score a touchdown.
09:47Despite, I thought, a good effort.
09:49You brought this up earlier.
09:50Mickey brought it up from Quinn.
09:52And he destroyed a play from the two yard line for a loss of two.
09:56And then I thought, second and goal.
09:59Here we go.
10:00Here we go.
10:00Second and goal from the four.
10:02It's just got a huge play.
10:03You get great coverage and contain on Tanner McKee.
10:06And then he just has to throw the ball away.
10:08And I realize Tanner McKee's not a whiz with his legs or anything.
10:11But I thought you did a great job on that.
10:12And third and four, I'm like, or third and goal from the four.
10:15All of a sudden, hey, hey.
10:16But Bland gets on the wrong side of the mini pick.
10:18And then once again, Makai Lemon.
10:21Easy touchdown.
10:22Yeah, I didn't love that so much.
10:24Somebody said, no thank you to the defense for making Tanner McKee look like an all pro for three quarters.
10:30Would you take three quarters of, I didn't think he looked like an all pro.
10:35Right.
10:35But I did think that he looked better than I even expected him to.
10:38Agreed.
10:39But would you take punt, interception, downs, and end of game?
10:43Hell yeah.
10:44For a fourth quarter?
10:46Every single time if you know that your offense can get a lead?
10:49Especially when the game is still on the line.
10:51Like, you've seen this a couple of times.
10:53The defense has stepped up in situations where it felt like we were already too far behind.
10:58You're like, oh, hey, thanks for stepping up now.
11:00At least they stepped up when the game mattered.
11:02But I get that point.
11:04They did not look good for three quarters.
11:06And I know, again, the Cowboys had put themselves in position by scoring that touchdown before the fourth quarter started.
11:13So you're up 28-21.
11:15In the fourth quarter, Kevin, this is the moment where you're playing the poker game with the other guy.
11:21And you have now forced him to have to go all in.
11:24Right.
11:25You know, this game itself was a, all right, I'm in, I'm out, I'm in.
11:30You're kind of going back and forth.
11:32You're just staying patient with the game until they realize we have to start passing.
11:37And we have to start doing some things that aren't ordinary to what we've been doing our game plan was.
11:43And once they got to that in the fourth quarter, that's how the interception happens.
11:46That's how some of these three and outs and four and outs, like, that's how those things happen.
11:51Because the Cowboys stayed patient with their game and didn't give them.
11:54I know Mickey keeps saying, hey, it's because you weren't down by 17.
11:58Well, you also weren't down by 17 because you weren't going three and out on a bunch of series.
12:04And you weren't giving the ball back to them with lots of clock left.
12:07You were keeping the ball in possession of you.
12:10And that was a big factor in this game for the Cowboys.
12:13A thank you note to Goodson for the play before the touchdown pass.
12:23I think it was third and two or a long one.
12:27He gets two, it looks like almost three yards because the ball was placed awkwardly on the yard lines.
12:34And I thought it was a really gritty run to get you the first down.
12:38And then on first down, you have a little bit more leeway.
12:41Dak makes a great throw to CeeDee Lamb.
12:44And then I loved the two-point conversion play.
12:50Because there's no way you're thinking collapse the pocket and then Dak is going to run.
12:56And that looked, and maybe I'm off about this, that looked designed all of the way.
13:02The seemingly designed, delayed run by Dak for the two-point conversion.
13:07And he could have run for a minute.
13:10Yeah.
13:11But that would be silly because then the play was over.
13:13I honestly, Kevin, before a halftime, and I know it was only a 46-second series,
13:20but they did the quarterback sneak from the two-yard line.
13:23I liked that.
13:25To get some more space?
13:26And I wanted them to run it again.
13:27But shoddy just couldn't help himself and needed to do the trickery play action and try and throw it,
13:33which almost turned into six.
13:34That was a scary play.
13:37That was not protecting the ball near your goal line by doing something like that.
13:41Now, Quinjon Mitchell just happened to peek inside and then look back at George Pickens
13:46and saw the slant, stepped into the route.
13:48It's a very smart play by Quinjon Mitchell.
13:50Because he's a hell of a player.
13:51He is a hell of a player.
13:52And you watch the way his head moved on that play, and he set himself up without even realizing
13:58what he was doing.
13:59The ball was coming at him already.
14:00But he just stepped into the route.
14:02That's all he was doing.
14:03And the play almost got turned around for six.
14:06And that would have been very – Kevin, just think about how bad that would have been
14:09right before halftime.
14:10Yeah.
14:11The Cowboys, because they couldn't just stick to the run, give up the points,
14:16and now you're screwed there, and now you're behind again,
14:18and you're having to work your way through it.
14:19But so I did like that quarterback sneak.
14:23I just felt like – there are multiple occasions where I felt like they could have
14:26run the ball another time on times that they chose to throw.
14:29Can you give me cut number 11?
14:32Because somebody asked, like, if you got emotional when DeMarvion Overshone made his play.
14:37I personally did not.
14:39But you consider all the injuries he's had to go through to get back on the field.
14:42I get that.
14:43I thought this play, as we discussed earlier, was incredible.
14:47First and 10.
14:48No huddle.
14:49McKee back.
14:50Fires it right.
14:51Picked off by the Cowboys at the 30-yard line.
14:55Don't look now, but DeMarvion Overshone has the interception.
15:01Jumping in front of Goddard.
15:02And I'm telling you, Overshone is back, and he has made a difference.
15:06He really did make a difference in that game.
15:08There was 7.51 to go, and I wrote, game is over.
15:12I believe at least one of the Jones family members echoed that sentiment.
15:15Even though Troy Aikman was skeptical that the game really was over, you could essentially see how it was.
