00:00This is Star Up, Star Down on the Franco LaFranco Fan Text, and it is brought to you by Wild
00:04Fork Foods, your game day grilling experience.
00:07Star up to the Dak Prescott touchdown passes.
00:10I'm not going to go overall star up for Dak because...
00:14Red zone Dak.
00:15Red zone Dak.
00:17The Pickens one was an absolute thing of beauty, and I needed that to clinch my fantasy football win over
00:23the winless Peyton Phillip Russell, so it felt double nice.
00:27But the touchdown throws, with the others going to CeeDee Lamb, were beautiful.
00:32He was off to CeeDee with about four other throws on the night.
00:37I'm absolutely convinced, no one can tell me otherwise, that he's banged up, and that's affecting his ball.
00:43At first I thought it was the hand.
00:45Bobby has now been saying for a week plus, and I heard it last night in the postgame show, maybe
00:49something in the chest.
00:51That chest tap he got last night, and he was like, it was like he was shot over on the
00:57sideline, where he was like, ah!
00:59And I was like, from that?
01:00So I don't know whether it's ribs.
01:02Took a rib shot the other week, and the Green Bay Packers beat him up.
01:06Something is off with him physically.
01:07That's the only thing that can justify some of these throws that he usually nails.
01:12The one to Pickens, NextGen, had a 14.9% completion probability, the most improbable of George's career.
01:20How do they calculate that?
01:22I don't know.
01:23You just throwed a number on that, guys.
01:26And the third most improbable of Dak's career.
01:29The third most improbable?
01:31Most improbable throw of Dak's career.
01:33I have no idea.
01:34Now, NextGen actually I think came out in 2016.
01:36Yeah.
01:37So it would be Dak's entire.
01:38It's not like a Brady thing where, you know, you didn't have QBR for the first half of his career.
01:43I think the most improbable of his career still is that third and 30 to T.Y. Hilton.
01:47That's probably the one that was, that was the one that I think for a long time was like a
01:506% chance, and they got that.
01:52George was 0.2 yards from the sideline.
01:56And major props to George Pickens for getting his feet in there.
01:59That was, like, I mean, everything about that was beautiful.
02:02The throw was great.
02:03The snag, the getting his feet down, it was great.
02:05Split second, I thought, oh, crap, they might overturn this.
02:08For a very split second that we saw that second look.
02:11Dak did not shy away in the pregame with Laura Rutledge saying it's a must-win game, and we heard
02:18much of the same after.
02:19I mean, I don't know if it's much more than we've lost two games.
02:22We say the division's right in front of us.
02:24It is as long as we win.
02:25And, you know, if you lose another game, then you're probably checking to see what New York's doing.
02:30You're probably watching, you know, the other teams more than we should.
02:33But, so, yeah, you can't, yeah, I mean, you got to win the games.
02:39You got to win division games.
02:42Like I said, how big of a game this was, understanding how much they're hurt on their offensive side.
02:47And, yeah, huge road win for us.
02:49And, as I said, creating momentum for us to go back home for the next couple of weeks.
02:52So, that Pickens touchdown on third down gave him the 17-14 lead.
02:59Star up to the TD throws.
03:00Star up.
03:01I'll stick with the quarterback.
03:03And I'll stick with this one with Shoddy in a play call because I'm sure we're going to hammer him
03:07at some point with this.
03:08So, you got to give him some flowers.
03:10It is the most unstoppable play this team has.
03:14It is the Dak Prescott two-point conversion draw.
03:17Run.
03:18Whatever you want to call it.
03:19That is a must-utilize.
03:22I wish they would use it more.
03:24I wish they would use it on third and two sometimes.
03:27You know, that is a, to me, I'm not scared of running him.
03:31I don't necessarily want to run him outside a lot.
03:33Up the middle, let him run, slide down, whatever.
03:36That is an unstoppable play.
03:38Well, it may have some more effectiveness when you run it as easy.
03:43Well, yeah, you can't run it every time.
03:46But, I mean, I would like to see that.
03:47They know, all right, third and one, third and two, he could run here.
03:50It may not work as much.
03:51I would like to see that maybe, you know, once a game.
03:55Maybe one time a game.
03:56On a third and short.
03:57Okay.
03:57On a second and short.
03:58Nah, second short go deep.
04:00On a third and short.
04:00That was the two-point conversion that put them up 28-21 after the Lamb score.
04:05Yeah, this is a easy star up.
04:07And, I mean, I guess it could go to one individual person.
04:09But, in general, I think it is this man.
04:13Hand off.
04:14Williams coming left.
04:15He popped loose.
04:1650.
04:17Left side.
04:1740.
04:18Williams to the 25-yard line.
04:21Run down by the safety.
04:23Andrew Makuba.
04:24Javante Williams.
04:25So, the run game in general gets a star up.
04:29But, breaking it down specifics to, Javante Williams ran really, really hard last night.
04:36And, came in there knowing, like, he was going to be carrying the ball a lot.
04:41And, needed to be physical.
04:42And, that they were going to need to lean on him.
04:45And, he put up an absolute, like, masterful performance running the football.
04:50And, finding the holes and finding the lanes.
04:52And, again, a lot of that's the offensive line.
04:54I think Guyton deserves a star up, like I mentioned earlier.
04:57Guyton, to me, played as well as I've seen him play in the run game in probably his entire time
05:04here.
05:05So, I think that, in general, the run game, but specifically, Javante Williams just was a monster last night.
05:10And, Dak on the fellas up front.
05:13Right there.
05:14Lyman lead the way.
05:15You know, that was Q.
05:17Did a great message to the team before the game.
05:19Just, you know, talking about the O-line and the D-line, right?
05:21Going and controlling the game.
05:22And, on offense, that's exactly what it was.
05:24We knew we, you know, had to create some balance.
05:27We had to stick to the run.
05:28Even, you know, if some are negative or not, you know, as efficient as we want.
05:32And, we were able to do that.
05:33And, you saw they got better as the game went on.
05:35You know, those two-yard runs turned to six-yard runs from six to 12.
05:38And, from there, you know, we were able to stay balanced and then pass off of that.
05:42And, so, that's kind of the attack we have to continue.
05:45I got some O-line stats for you here.
05:49Booker, zero pressures allowed against Carter.
05:53B.B., zero pressures allowed against Carter.
05:56Smith, one allowed against Ajomo.
06:00Smith, zero against Davis.
06:02Guyton, zero Epinesa.
06:04Guyton, zero Greenard.
06:07Steel, zero against Carter.
06:09B.B., one against Davis.
06:11Steel, zero.
06:12I mean, just zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, up and down.
06:15Offensive line played.
06:16They needed it.
06:18Zero tackles for loss, Aikman pointed out, for the Eagles in 65 Cowboy plays.
06:26Are you kidding me?
06:27Zero TFLs.
06:29Zero sacks.
06:31Very few pressures.
06:33As Sirianni loses his fifth straight.
06:36The most points allowed in the Fangio era.
06:39And, they clearly came out and said, here's the blueprint.
06:43Opening drive.
06:44Javante, three for 23.
06:47Just right off the jump.
06:49You get a...
06:50Oh, excuse me.
06:51Oh, hey.
06:51You get a field goal on a fourth and three.
06:55And, I was actually okay with that.
06:56Let's not try to use hindsight.
06:58Maybe you did already forecast.
06:59I know the defense was going to stink again.
07:01I had higher hopes with my 25-point guarantees.
07:05But, fourth and three, I'm like, just get the daggone points on the road.
07:09Get up on the scoreboard.
07:10And, hopefully, you start off okay against a backup QB and all these scrubs.
07:15Obviously, that got burned and ripped to shreds.
07:19But, that was Javante.
07:20Straight opening drive.
07:22Second drive.
07:23More Javante.
07:25As, at one point, he had five for 40.
07:28So, boom.
07:29He's just ripping off an average of eight yards a carry.
07:32So, story of the game.
07:34Offensive line.
07:34And, Javante controlling things.
07:36Yeah, in total for the game, it was one pressure from BB.
07:39One pressure from Tyler Smith.
07:40Everybody else was...
07:42It was zeros from Steele, Guyton, and Booker.
07:44And, so, they showed up last night.
07:46They played really well.
07:47Whether it's the run game or, you know, in pass protection.
07:50So, really positive day for the offensive line as a unit.
07:53Which, you know, like Brian and Sham talked about last night.
07:56It's...
07:56They were wanting a little bit of a chip on their shoulder.
08:01And, were wanting a little bit more responsibility in this one.
08:03And, stepped up in a big way.
08:04Look.
08:04Star up to the undisputed best wide receiver on the football team.
08:10He came in.
08:12Leading the league in targets.
08:14C.D. Lamb just does not stop.
08:19He beat Rick Willen in the third.
08:21After two drops.
08:23That's where Brad was like, he didn't drop that one.
08:25So, he got interfered with.
08:26But, still dropped one he should have caught.
08:28And, then that scary near behind the line of scrimmage return touchdown.
08:33That was petrof.
08:34I was like, this is cowboy luck right here.
08:37This is going to go backwards.
08:39And, Philly's going to have a free seven.
08:41How close do you think it was?
08:42I don't think it was behind him.
08:43But, I thought it was close to being a direct lateral.
08:46The initial throw was like forward.
08:48But, then I saw C.D. moving back two steps.
08:52He did, yeah.
08:53He moved back a couple steps.
08:54And, then I was like, oh my gosh.
08:55But, thank goodness they ruled on it quick.
08:57On the slow-mo, it looked like it was, you know, about, I would say, what, three-quarters of a
09:03yard in front?
09:04Yeah.
09:06The numbers don't add up, in my opinion, to the performance.
09:10And, that's because of Dak being off to him.
09:13What's it called when we compare catches to targets, targets to catches?
09:17What's that stat called?
09:18Like your ratio of catch rate?
09:20The catch rate is awful.
09:23That's because of Dak.
09:24Because he got targeted 12 times.
09:26He only had five receptions.
09:28But, five for 74 yards, 14.8 per catch, and two touchdowns.
09:35But, Dak was off to him.
09:36So, the catch rate does not look good.
09:38And, that includes the one where he should have had a walk-in touchdown at the very end.
09:44At the end of the half?
09:47That was another one.
09:48No.
09:50We lose track of him.
09:51Yeah.
09:52No, it was the one down the right sideline.
09:54I think that was in the second half.
09:56I think that was later in the game.
09:57The one that he, like, had to sprawl out for, and he was wide open when the guy had fallen
10:00down on the sluggo?
10:01Yeah, that was the one at the end of the first half where it—
10:03That was an almost overthrow before the half.
10:06That's not the one I'm referring to.
10:07And, he had two separate overthrows that were, like, should have been, at least that I can remember,
10:11where Lamb was open, should have had a big game, and the ball just sailed.
10:14Yeah, I'm talking about another one.
10:17Oh, it's the one on the shoddy screwing up the—
10:21Again, multiple.
10:22Which one?
10:23Multiple.
10:23The one where shoddy didn't call the timeout early enough.
10:26And, he didn't give them a chance on third.
10:28Lamb should have been in the end zone.
10:29It was a bad ball from Dak.
10:30Dak, you guys are blanking on me.
10:32Well, I mean, everything you're describing sounds like the end of the first half to me.
10:36Oh, okay.
10:36That situation, because he didn't call the timeout.
10:38They wanted to hurry up.
10:39There's, like, 35 seconds left, like a 40-yard line-ish.
10:42My bad.
10:43I think you guys are right.
10:44There's one where he sprawled out, caught it, but went to the ground.
10:47Yeah.
10:47It was an overthrow, but then there's another one where he should have walked in.
10:52Maybe it's the same one.
10:52I'm sorry.
10:53I'm going three, four hours sleep.
10:55But, the point is, the catch ratio is not there.
10:59Was it this one?
11:01Yes.
11:01Yeah, that was the end of the first half.
11:02It's the same one.
11:03It's the same one.
11:03My bad.
11:04But, there were multiple.
11:04I feel like there was one.
11:05I feel like there was another pass.
11:06Like, they had chances to get into the end zone after that.
11:10They still ran, like, two plays.
11:12Yeah, but they should have had, like, four shots at it.
11:16But, you wanted to carry that.
11:18I get it.
11:18Like, you want to hold on to that last timeout in the first half, so you can go into the
11:21second
11:21half with four timeouts, so, like, there is a value in having four timeouts in the second
11:25half.
11:25But, the man's balling out.
11:26He's just there for you.
11:27No, it's not.
11:28This is as good as he's played.
11:30I know last week, he wasn't as good, but I'm like, throughout the season, he's been money.
11:35That play, I said, you know, I'm not getting thrown off sides during the game.
11:41I'm not going to get into Twitter fights during games.
11:44I'm not doing that.
11:45And, that one play there, the no timeout, got me into a Twitter fight last night.
11:50And, I don't need that.
11:51Let's get to star down.
11:55And, I'm a law of averages person.
11:57I always have been.
11:59Always will be.
12:00And, I just say, it can't happen again.
12:04It can't be as historically bad every single time.
12:08I had higher hopes for the Cowboys defense after the Green Bay game.
12:13And, those were absolutely dashed, despite allowing 21 points on the scoreboard, because
12:19of who you allowed it against.
12:22There is nothing in my life that brings me more anxiety right now than the Dallas Cowboys
12:29on third down.
12:32Nothing.
12:33No.
12:33I can hear that my kid got messed with a little bit by a punk-ass bully, six-year-old,
12:39at school.
12:40Or, my daughter's sick, going on five days straight.
12:46Gathering myself up emotionally.
12:48Gather the emotions.
12:49When the Cowboys are about to get off the field.
12:52And, I allow my hopes to keep saying, here it is.
12:57Here it is.
12:58There will be a breakthrough moment where, confidence-wise, they're like, okay, we can
13:03leave the field now.
13:04We can exit the premises.
13:06We can walk to the sideline.
13:09And, time after time, and time after time, time, time, time.
13:13I'm gutted.
13:14You were in Michigan with me.
13:15I'm going to quote the Marshall that said this to us.
13:18You know better than that.
13:20All right.
13:20You know better than that, man.
13:22You know that this team is not going to get off the field on third down.
13:25Because, there's either going to be a pass play allowed, or a run play allowed, or a
13:31penalty.
13:32A penalty.
13:33And, that's the worst to me, man.
13:35I'd much rather give up a pass play.
13:37I'd much rather give up.
13:37You know, give up.
13:38Earn it.
13:39When you give up a penalty.
13:41When, you know, whether it's the Quinnen, you know, neutral zone infraction, or whatever
13:45the hell you want to.
13:46When I thought he finally beat the Tush Push.
13:48Yeah.
13:48I mean, I guess it was twice by Quinnen, right?
13:50He had two of those.
13:50I don't fault him for that one.
13:53That one, that dumb play is allowed to just basically get an automatic conversion.
13:58So, I don't blame somebody for like, all right, let me try and get a little bit of an advantage.
14:00It's like that Commander's player who kept jumping.
14:02Is it Luvu?
14:03Yeah.
14:04He kept going over the top, over the top, over the top.
14:06We're about to award them a touchdown for doing this, which has never been done in the
14:10history of the NFL.
14:11Yeah.
14:11So, yeah, I don't blame him as much.
14:13I'd like for you to not line up offsides.
14:16But they have let false starts go for years from Philly.
14:19But five defensive penalties, seven in the first half, and four of them allowing first
14:29downs at one point in time.
14:31Caleb Downs even had one on third and five.
14:34They remain a stupid, undisciplined defensive football team.
14:40And that has not changed whatsoever.
14:42And then opening the third quarter to the point of the third downs, this was as bad
14:49or worse than the Tampa drive.
14:52I'll say this was worse.
14:54Because at least at the Tampa drive, because that was the first drive of the game, you had
14:58not seen Daniels yet.
15:00You didn't know what really to expect from him.
15:04They still have a Macabuga.
15:06Yeah, and you're not as familiar with them as a whole either.
15:09You know, Philadelphia, you had already seen a few drives from them throughout the day.
15:13You had halftime adjustments, or whatever you want to call halftime adjustments now,
15:19to go make.
15:20And then you come out, and that was a punt.
15:22Was it nine minutes?
15:23Nine and a half minutes?
15:24Here it is.
15:25Mm-hmm.
15:26Hollywood, third and five, 19 yards.
15:29And he was wide open.
15:32There was nobody there.
15:32There's two people wide open on that play.
15:34They just went to Hollywood.
15:36Fourth and one to Makai Lemon for 15.
15:39Goddard, third and five.
15:41Third and three, Pierce run, first down.
15:45Third and goal, Makai for the 21-20 lead.
15:5017 play drive with Tanner McKee, one hamstring of Saquon, your third and fourth receivers.
15:5917 for 84 yards, 9-16 off the damn clock.
16:06Yeah, you did it with a backup running back and a backup quarterback and a backup receiver.
16:09It's a disgrace.
16:10It really is.
16:11It's disgraceful.
16:12And I was, at that point, I was like, just leave Christian Parker's ass back with Fangio.
16:16Let him go heat up Vic's coffee.
16:19Leave his ass right there in Pennsylvania.
16:21Because I think around that time, they showed a picture, like they showed Parker on the side.
16:27They see Vic in the booth.
16:28And I'm like, man, just put this dude in the booth.
16:30You know, his mentors in the booth.
16:32Like, just throw him up in the booth.
16:34That third down, that third quarter opening drive for them.
16:37I mean, now your offense.
16:39I don't even know if that was as maddening as their opening drive.
16:44Well, the opening drive was more emasculate.
16:46Well, I shouldn't say it was more emasculate.
16:47Which do you hate more?
16:48Do you like getting run down over 18 plays in 10 minutes?
16:51Or do you like it just to happen fast in two and a half minutes down the field?
16:55Would you like quick death or slow death?
16:57These were the exact plays.
16:58I'm not skipping anything.
17:00Saquon catch for 12.
17:02Then he runs for 29.
17:04Makai 21.
17:06Barkley 8.
17:07I'm like, oh, hamstring popped at least.
17:09There you go.
17:10No.
17:10He scores the touchdown.
17:12He comes back in.
17:13Four plays, 75 yards, 205.
17:15Nate Newton almost having a heart attack, I'm sure, last night with Rashawn Gary not setting the edge.
17:21The Eagles came into the game.
17:24The last two games rushing for 57 yards.
17:27Two games.
17:28They had 37 rushing on the first drive.
17:33It's unbelievable and believable at the same time.
17:36That's where I melt down emotionally.
17:38I'm like, it can't.
17:39There's no way they're going to have a four-play drive.
17:40And then I guaranteed on Twitter, freezing cold takes, they can't score a touchdown on the second drive just like
17:48that.
17:48No.
17:48No, they couldn't.
17:49Quinnen, offside tush push.
17:51Oh, they did.
17:52That was the third offsides call already.
17:5511 plays, 8 first downs.
17:58That was their efficiency.
17:5911 plays, 8 first downs.
18:02Third and 10.
18:03Darius Cooper, 17 yards.
18:07Third down.
18:08You're getting off the field.
18:09It's incomplete.
18:11LT Overton, face mask.
18:13The third first down by penalty.
18:16Pierce walks in for the score.
18:1814-10.
18:20How much longer can Jerry Jones tolerate this?
18:23We've got to ask him this at 830.
18:25How much longer are you going to tolerate it?
18:27And he'll spin it, and it's time, and we're working.
18:30We've got the right people.
18:31No, man.
18:31No, there's not the right people on the field.
18:33You know, the question is going to be, do you have the right people on the coaching staff?
18:36Because it's definitely not the players on the field.
18:38And those, I mean, I guess you could change the deadline's still out there.
18:42But, I mean, do you really have, do you really want to right now?
18:48Pass rush and run D.
18:50Like, Bobby, there's no pass rush.
18:53No.
18:54There's nothing.
18:55They had, I think they had two pressures in the first half, and it was on the same play.
19:01And I think it was after, like, three and a half seconds, and it was your, I think it was
19:04linebackers.
19:05It was Shamar James and Jayshon Barham on the same play.
19:08But, Todd Archer with a stat.
19:10Last time the Cowboys allowed fewer than 20 points in a game was week 11 last year against the Raiders.
19:16The Bobby Belt guarantee money game.
19:18Week 11.
19:19The last time you allowed less than 20.
19:21It's the 14th straight game giving up 20 or more, adding to the franchise record.
19:27I thought Wade Phillips last night with the Mannings was taking a shot at us.
19:31It was really, I think, against Philly.
19:32He goes, there's only two plays they can't stop.
19:37Folks, folks.
19:37There's only two plays they can't stop.
19:39That's the run and the pass.
19:41Yeah, that's right.
19:42That was Wade.
19:42I think he was insulting Philly.
19:44Eight pressures, according to Sumer Sports, they had for the game.
19:47Minus their EPA per play by down.
19:51Dallas was minus .03, which this week was 10th out of 28 teams on first down.
19:57On second down, they were minus .58, which was second best out of 28 teams in the NFL defensively.
20:03And then on third down, they were 24th out of 28 teams with a plus .57 on third down.
20:08Third down this year, yeah, plus .57.
20:10This year, they are 31st in the NFL on third down and EPA per play defensively.
20:14I have to get the historical stats on third down conversions they're allowing and penalties committed that lead to first
20:21downs on third.
20:22Like, historically.
20:23I tried to ask Grok last night.
20:25I tried to AI it.
20:26I think it's my first ever public AI Grok whatever request on Twitter.
20:30But they have to be historically bad in stupidity and lack of discipline for what they do on third in
20:38terms of allowing it and committing the fouls and penalties to have it happen.
20:43Brian Schottenheimer, what did you think of your defense?
20:46Yeah, again, you know, we've got to be a little bit better against the run.
20:48You know, third down, we tightened up a little bit in the second half.
20:52But all in all, you hold the team to 21 points.
20:54That gives us a chance.
20:56Okay.
20:57You feel better about the defense after this game or after the Packer game where I had some hopes after
21:04or just no to everything?
21:06I don't.
21:07I mean, third down efficiency, it does not feel like they were 5 for 12, the Eagles.
21:12We were 8 for 13.
21:13They were only 5 for 12.
21:14I thought it was a much better conversion rate.
21:17Do they count penalties?
21:18Two for three.
21:18As third down conversions, they count a third down penalty?
21:22I don't know if they count it as an attempt, but it'll obviously go in there as a penalty by
21:29first down.
21:29It goes in their first down tracking, but I don't know if it counts towards their third down numbers.
21:32You know, I don't really have a great answer to your question on whether I feel better about today or
21:37the Packer game.
21:38This is a backup quarterback.
21:39At the end of the day, two of the last three games this team has played, they've played backup quarterbacks,
21:44and they've trailed in the second half, right?
21:47Yeah, they're down 21-20 after the first touchdown of the third quarter touchdown.
21:52So they've trailed the second half both these games against a backup quarterback.
21:54That's not good.
21:55And again, Saquon's hamstring, your top two receivers out, and your offensive line that has everyone thinking you're selling.
22:04Yeah, you traded one, you retired another.
22:08Like, this is a mash unit, and you're trailing in the second half, and this is two games in three
22:15weeks
22:15where you've trailed in the second half against a backup quarterback.
22:20That can't happen.
22:21Like, that's not a recipe for a team that I should have any faith in that is one player away.
22:28Like, if you think that Max Crosby's going to come here and fix anything, what's he fixing?
22:32I said, okay, he'll fix the pass rush a little bit.
22:34But, you know, but, I mean, is that going to completely transform this defense?
22:40It's giving up third downs at that rate?
22:42Bobby, are there any overall for the group signs of encouragement?
22:47Or no, not after last night.
22:49I mean, Quinn and Williams, I gave a star up to, obviously, the overshone play.
22:54But, I mean, do you feel any better about them?
22:57No.
22:57I mean, Philly's just so bad.
22:59Like, and that was one of the things that we had talked about yesterday was this was a bad team
23:04that was as depleted as they could get.
23:07And so, I hate just, like, saying that you can't take anything positive from a road victory by 17
23:15after your, like, season was on the brink.
23:17They deserve credit for not folding.
23:19They deserve credit for the run game.
23:23Like, I mean, Philly's run defense has been okay.
23:25So, like, you being able to run the ball on that, like, run like that against them is good.
23:28No, I'm just talking defensively.
23:30Yeah.
23:30So, but, like, when you look at it, no, I think there's, it's Philly.
23:35And you just say, all right, Philly's broken, bruised, beaten down right now.
23:38There's not a whole lot of positive you can take from that other than just, I guess I don't feel
23:42worse
23:42because I felt worse watching them against Tampa.
23:45Like, I can say I'm kind of neutral on it, and that's still better than saying, well, I felt terrible
23:50after Tampa
23:50going like, oh, you're bad.
23:52But I said it last night after the first drive where Philly's like, I was like, it may just be
23:55that you're one of the worst teams in the NFL.
23:56I don't know.
23:57Like, because it looks like it at times.
