00:05whole new ball game that's veteran coaches transform Giants in matter of weeks that's the
00:11back page ladies and gentlemen for the New York Post what's going on this is Blue Rush from the
00:16New York Post sports Giants are 4-2-1 heading or chilling into the bye week top of the division
00:23Brendan London here alongside longtime Giants beat writer for the Post Paul Schwartz back from
00:30Texas with some barbecue I hope got yourself some barbecue and a W can if I just not feeling
00:38the jacket the trunner the jacket that you're wearing right now but all's well all's well
00:44Arsenal hey look look I only cover or represent first place teams okay Arsenal and the Giants now
00:53past few years my representation took a hit a little bit with the Giants right but um look
00:58you know 3-2-1 blast off is the is the term right but 4-2-1 blast off sounds
01:05a lot better and
01:05um let's face it look we talked about it I talked about it with colleagues I talked about it with
01:11fans and family going into that Texans game and it's like we were building the Texans up to be the
01:17uh
01:17the 49ers here or you know they have oh man they're two and four but they won their last two
01:22games they're surging they got a terrific defense they're tough in that building all the other
01:26stuff and um they were 10 and a half points for underdogs the Giants and boy they they played
01:31terrific and you know we'll we'll get into it there's you know there's there's you know don't
01:35play terrific without terrific play from your quarterback right and I don't know about you
01:42I was gonna let you I was gonna let you cook yeah I mean we could use this episode and
01:46kind of break
01:47down the last game do a little self-analysis this bar week let's you know kind of look at who
01:52needs
01:52to step up who we feel like on the second half of the season is gonna be a guy is
01:57gonna turn from
01:58just a jag to a guy so but yeah let's start with the quarterback Paul because you know I was
02:02saying
02:03this on the live stream last night a lot of going back and forth with a lot of people uh
02:07when it comes
02:07to J.J. McCarthy I liked his legs I thought they were going to use his legs a little bit
02:12he didn't
02:13run many QB design he didn't run the ball run the football at all and I felt like there was
02:19a level
02:19of comfortability there and it's because for me being behind the scenes saying what I can see on
02:26Thursday I had to do a interview with Malachi Fields after practice 50 yards walk and talk with
02:32Malachi Fields but we had to wait because J.J. McCarthy pulled both he and Malik Neighbors
02:39into the indoor field and these guys were running those out routes that you saw Malachi Fields catch
02:45a lot of and then those corner routes those one-man corner routes that you saw Malik Neighbors catch
02:50on the line on a rope I believe it was two-minute drill the two-minute drill to uh in
02:55the fourth
02:56quarter and I looked at it and I go usually as a receiver you're like week six week seven you're
03:02like man I'm just trying to save my legs I'm not trying to run any extra routes I have to
03:06practice
03:06come on trying to save my legs but you got this new quarterback that can sling it you're Malik Neighbors
03:12I want that football so if you pulled me to the side and was like let's go get some extra
03:16work and
03:17I'm going I'm Malachi Fields I want a bigger role in this offense I want more targets and I saw
03:23it I saw
03:23the chemistry there I saw the communication there I saw J.J. McCarthy tell Malik hey expect that ball
03:29on a rope if I can hold that cover to corner with my eyes I'm gonna put it right over
03:35his head and I
03:35saw it I saw it go from the field to the football field to the game action and I just
03:41felt like because
03:42of that communication and that chemistry that was being built it's been here for three weeks
03:47and everybody does this everyone goes routes on air does extra after their practice but I feel like
03:53when I watched that and I was sitting there watching I say okay this kid gets it this kid
03:58looks like he don't want to give up that QB1 title until he's forced to and we don't know how
04:02long that
04:03runs for and people are the media some media's already started that that chatter but J.J. McCarthy
04:08man hats off to walk in there at NRG Stadium go 20 for 28 get the ball spread the football
04:15out to guys
04:16and to come out with a W that's that's huge and I got to see the behind the scenes Paul
04:23that was the
04:23coolest part about his performance and that offensive explosion yeah look there's no way I
04:30thought that was going to be the first start you know what I mean um and and you know I
04:35I you know I
04:35mean and there was no disrespect to J.J. McCarthy it just first of all like you said we saw
04:40him you
04:40saw him do some gadget stuff right he'd come in and he you know he he he he didn't run
04:45he he had a
04:46couple of passes they would they were recalled back by penalties um in in you know his his you know
04:51earlier when Jameis was starting right came in do a little RPO hand the ball off things like that
04:56so we all we heard was like okay now we can oh use a lot of the playbook that we
05:01had with Jackson Dart
05:02right the running plays the RPOs you're right not one designed run for him this was no gadget this
05:08was no gimmick this was a guy go play quarterback right now there's the threat of some of that RPO
05:16help in the running game late especially sure it does I think it opens things up but he didn't run
05:21the ball to show the Texans they might have been expecting it but they never got it um what did
05:26we
05:26hear in Minnesota right he's a fastball pitcher but he doesn't have great control yeah right every
05:31everything's 100 miles an hour with him now he does throw the ball 100 miles an hour he does one
05:36time he hit I think Malik didn't catch one it's like that was a fastball remember the one on the
05:42left side that he feathered right over the defender I think it was to Malik on the left sideline I
05:47think
05:48it was to Malik he feathered the throw it was perfection it's like that is a big time throw and
05:56you know what I like best and John Hallbar said it too well look he threw the ball down the
06:01field you
06:01know and you know Malik I fields on the right side you know he throws him a pass and he
06:05breaks a
06:05tackle and it's 47 yards um great great but what I liked best is what I didn't see no procedure
06:13penalties yeah no taking too long in the in in the huddle no delay of games no we got to
06:20call a
06:21timeout okay we got to get in sync here we got to figure out what's the stuff that you would
06:24expect
06:25in a guy's first start right you know no no no you you know pointing guys in motion no you
06:31the things you know he's he's confused or they don't hear the cadence or something like that
06:35um no center quarterback exchanges let's start with the most basic thing no issues with that
06:40so it was a clean game and and um yes look credit to Brian Callahan who was a terrific quarterbacks
06:46coach
06:46credit to Matt Nagy who who really how about how about that um how about that um fake
06:54QB tush push sneak hand the ball to Cam for 19 yards how about that I mean that's that's a
07:00gutsy
07:00play call but and also but really kudos to McCarthy who came in 23 years old we heard we heard
07:07all
07:07about maturity issues winning the locker room all this stuff he's been incredibly friendly with the
07:13media you know he's one of that he's he's he's a Midwest hey how you doing hope you have a
07:17good
07:17rest of your day that kind of thing um um you know he you know very nice very very very
07:23friendly but
07:23you know you get a little skeptical it's like okay I heard some things from Minnesota let's see
07:27what this kid does and he obviously went to work he obviously studied very hard and um
07:33what I wrote in my column you know that day um you know on Sunday was he gave giants anyone
07:40who cares
07:40about the giants he gave you permission to hope again the hope that was taken away after Jackson
07:46thought he gives you permission to hope again not that definite you know not that okay this is the
07:51guy now he's gonna lead us to the promised land but after that game I don't think any giant fan
07:56can
07:56say okay now I don't believe we can do it I have the hope for consistency because I don't want
08:01it to be
08:02a splash in the in the pan type thing like oh you go 20 for 28 you know you don't
08:07turn the football
08:08over and then the next week let's say you come out of the bye against the eagles two interceptions
08:13fumble loss and then the offense looked like it was in disarray so my hope I love what I saw
08:18but I'm
08:19hoping for that consistency and that he can bring again continue with the explosive plays for this
08:25giants offense but there's two numbers Paul that I that I am I'm so okay with when it comes to
08:31JJ
08:32McCarthy and it'll transition into us talking about the run game he took three sacks so those
08:37three sacks I felt like as a guy in his first start on the road against the Texans defense
08:43that oh I'm I'm playing because I want to be the QB one here in New York I felt like
08:49there was two of
08:49those sacks that he he took and he ate that he could have tried to do too much and got
08:56himself in
08:57trouble but he ate it and then he allowed Jordan Stout to come in and have the heck of a
09:02punt second
09:03number or stat that I like from JJ McCarthy one carry one yard they didn't have to manufacture the
09:12run game or get any sort of run game with the QB being a top one two or three rusher
09:18on this team
09:20so when we go into the run game scat 17 for buck 24 and a touchdown Devin Singletary 5 for
09:2741 in the
09:28touchdown Tyrone Tracy Jr is six for 15 in one touchdown I ask you because scat was in the dog
09:37house and he he answered he answered the call he answered the challenge do you think the run game
09:43is fixed after watching that performance no I'm not going to say fixed no but because it's one game
09:50like you said and and but yeah you know what else you know to be fair the run game took
09:55a while to get
09:55going you know if we did a pot we did a emergency podcast at halftime we wouldn't have brought up
10:02oh man the run game's back right they were 18 for 48 in the first half okay 18 48 rushing
10:10yards in
10:10the first half so you know Cam was averaging uh Cam scattered with 3.4 yards a carry so it
10:16was not
10:16fixed at that point but they did do some changes they did you know they I think on the last
10:22two runs
10:22you know don't forget the last two runs produced what 72 yards found out you know how it is right
10:28you say you say remember in the past with the Giants with the run defense man the run defense was
10:33terrific until two plays you know a 32 yarder and a 60 yarder and all of a sudden the stats
10:39are all skewed
10:40I mean all that good work so it's a little bit of that with this the last two runs went
10:45for 70 yards
10:46you know I mean that's you know you know two carries averaging 35 yards so it's a little misleading but
10:51um yes I give all credit to Cam Scatterboo he he he answered the call he did not fumble um
10:59he he did not come close to fumbling you know he he got what he could uh you know and
11:04look they had
11:05two rushing touchdowns going into this game two they had four in this game and um you know
11:10interesting I didn't expect you know after a handful of plays oh Jameis is going to come in
11:14to do a quarterback sneak on third and one you know I didn't know that you know Jameis is not
11:19you know he's he he's he's morphed into Tyson um um um Dixon Hill right it was a guy who
11:26he played
11:26with his little teammate yeah you know you know what I mean that now you know when Jameis is not
11:31that kind of a physical force but um um interesting you know keep him involved that's really good um
11:37yeah I mean the run game was was was better certainly um I don't think it's where it needs
11:42to be but um you have to credit Cam you know now what did you think of the um I
11:48I can go two ways
11:49with the um personal foul for um you know after trucking the Texans player getting an extra four
11:57or five yards they call Cam for you know um unnecessary roughness what do you think of that call
12:03I think the league is too much uh hypocrisy when it goes to these calls and what you want to
12:08be
12:08like what is your identity for the national football league do you want it to still be smash
12:13mouth guys hitting each other or do you want it to be everyone wearing guardian caps and bubble wraps
12:18and we're protecting anything and everything that comes with football literally all he did was a hit
12:24stick in Madden on the offensive side I didn't look at it like he went dropped his helmet for the
12:30crown of this helmet to go you you're searching for contact that's his type of running style
12:37so I don't I didn't look at it like he was like leading with the head trying to trying to
12:42like
12:43take this man on with just his head or this area right it was more shoulder and you're dropping
12:49so now we're at the point Paul where on the defensive side let's say I'm a receiver going up
12:55across the middle now there's a gray area on how I'm going to attack and try and hit this receiver
13:01to try and get this ball out now we're seeing on the offensive side with with a call like that
13:06how am I going to run somebody over now like I'm anxious to see if this is a call that
13:11can be on a
13:12guy like Derrick Henry or some of these power backs that are in the lead to where that's what they
13:17do
13:18they run guys over so I think the league I just need more transparency like I just wish that Mr.
13:25Roger Goodell would just sit and he had his rules committee and everyone sit and break down these plays
13:32and hey this is why it was called and this is what we want going forward because I just it's
13:38not on the
13:39same page right now and that's the frustrations because a penalty like that could be a drive stopper
13:45look I mean in real time I don't think anyone watched it and says oh my gosh that could be
13:50a flag
13:50you know they did not at all I don't want to hide that the bar yeah yeah and and and
13:55and now look I'm
13:56I'm torn two ways now I you know this is done to protect people so I don't want Cam lowering
14:03his
14:04head you know what I mean I mean just because he is initiating the contact doesn't mean he can't
14:08come out with a stinger or something worse so I am okay you know I don't like the Cam afterwards
14:13says I'm going to do the same thing over again I don't like that you have to learn if they're
14:17going
14:17to call that now this is the first time I think this season they called that on a running back
14:21but they have fined the guys this season for that what they considered lowering the helmet
14:27I agree with you it wasn't you first of all it's obviously not a defenseless or defenseless player
14:33you know the guy's bracing for it um I didn't like the call but I think yes I think they
14:38need to look
14:39at it and study it and then go back to the Giants and say okay this was the right call
14:44for this reason
14:44we don't want your bat we don't want your running back being a battering ram we're trying to protect
14:49his life and his career or as you said maybe they go through that and say you know what
14:53what looked like crown of the helmet was really more this area here and it probably to the letter
15:00of law shouldn't have been a penalty but um um you know it was it was it's one of those
15:07plays that
15:07was a highlight play um and um you know it wasn't just for show he got three or four extra
15:12yards out
15:13of it too at the wash party people were boring it obviously you're going to because you're you know
15:17you're a Giants fan and you want to see that type of you want to see that type of contact
15:21at the end
15:22of the day it's still football you can try and protect it as much as possible football movements
15:27and football business are still football movements and football business but yeah I'm with you we need
15:33to hear something I would like John Harbaugh to come out maybe later on in this week and be like
15:38I
15:38spoke with the league and they broke it down here's what I agree with here's what I don't agree with
15:43going forward I'm gonna have running backs coach Willie Taggart tell our backs you can do this but
15:49you can't do that so at least everyone's on the same page because just think about if it's a game
15:55later on in the season you got a chance to lock up first place a playoff uh position he goes
16:01through
16:01as a big run like that we think that that's it clock it you get called for it and then
16:06now that
16:07hurts you we've seen stranger things happen to the Giants so I want everybody on page
16:13when we talk about the self-analysis part of today's blue rush Paul into the bye week is there
16:19a position group is there a player players on the offensive side of the football that one
16:26you want to see more of coming out of the bye week and two you think this kid this player
16:33or this group
16:33is going to have an explosion I can't call it the second half of the season but on the second
16:39half of
16:40the bye week well I still think the offensive line there's a lot more meat on the bone there
16:44with them you know I mean now look the two tackles um are hurting you know they're hurting I mean
16:49I
16:49mean Andrew Thomas is really hurting I mean I wanted to you know shake his hand and say go go
16:55lay on
16:56the beach for a couple of weeks man because you yeah he's really hurting I mean he's trying to look
17:00like himself yeah and he's still playing well enough I mean you know I mean Danielle Hunter
17:05you know got the better of him sometimes but it wasn't it wasn't a jailbreak by any stretch and
17:11Jermaine O'Neal a Jermaine Illuminor you know with his calf you know he he's hurting too but
17:17you know you know you know Jermaine he said well you know how do you think you played against Will
17:20Anderson he said well I don't think you heard his number call very much so um I think I did
17:25my job
17:25you know that that's I still you know he says I'm the best right tackle in the league and I
17:29think um
17:31the Giants feel you know you know John Harbaugh knows him from his time in Baltimore that's like
17:36look if that helps him think that way to play better to play like it then fine you know he's
17:40he's a he's
17:41a pretty darn good um um pass block uh pass protector there's no question about it but that
17:47group on the interior um you know CC I thought played well this past game but I think there's you
17:52know
17:52he needs to evolve as a rookie John Runyon definitely has room for growth there's no
17:57question about it you know he's maybe I don't want to call him the weak link on the on the
18:01offensive line but you know the interior of that group you know I don't think Hudson has been a
18:05massive upgrade over John Michael Schmitz but I think he is he's probably been an upgrade at this
18:11point but I think there's still more there you know that's not a position the Giants are dominating
18:16at you know but you don't always have to dominate at every position um otherwise I would say I still
18:21want more from Tyron Tracy you know I still think he's he's he's their first or second best running
18:27back so I want to see more from him you know he he pulled up a little bit didn't want
18:31to you know
18:31didn't want to test his hamstring he felt it a little bit on a play so he kind of you
18:35know you
18:35know took a seat a little bit there I still want more from him Darnell Mooney has been really uh
18:40you
18:41know almost a zero you know there doesn't seem to be any connection with any of the of the
18:45quarterbacks and he's a guy that I think has some talent um but you know other than that look it's
18:50going to be fascinating to watch J.J. McCarthy on offense certainly because um um he was he was
18:55like you know I mean he gave me reason to think wow this this can be a playoff team if
18:59he plays that
19:00way without a doubt and I was going to ask you that question towards the end so hold on to
19:04that
19:04I'm going to ask is the playoff or bust or division or bust so start thinking of what you want
19:09to say
19:09from there but the player that I want to see more out of and it's not a bad thing Malachi
19:14Fields
19:15surprise surprise I'm gonna have to go with you know wide receiver I was watching the game with uh
19:20uh uh Akeem Nix Akeem Nix had nothing but great things to say about the new 88 for the Giants
19:29and
19:29Malachi Fields says he loves the way he catches it in the first window meaning not allowing the ball to
19:34get on his body catches it with the hands thinks of him as a playmaker when you saw him break
19:38the
19:39tackle and get up the field when that 47 yard catch run he said he didn't know he could get
19:43yak
19:43like that so this is a kid that with every single opportunity that he's getting he's showing that
19:50he can handle more he can do more in a game where Isaiah likely only had two catches off of
19:55three
19:56targets he stepped up and became the wide receiver to to Malik neighbors that we've been wanting we've
20:02been wanting to see so in a good way that's who I want to see more of in a more
20:10of a come on man
20:11I need to see it with Darnell Mooney it's Darnell Mooney I'm going back and forth with a fan because
20:18they're like you cut Odell for him and Mooney's not giving you much four targets one one catch
20:26it's that same chemistry that you saw with Jameis and Malik which is easy Jameis and you know he got
20:36Malachi Fields in the touchdown got him a couple times we're not seeing that carry over with Darnell
20:41Mooney his biggest play so far has been the 20 yard reverse and you wonder all that okay you're the
20:46speed guy that's replacing Darius Slayton you know Matt Nagy this is your offense you had success with
20:53this play caller before what is it because I need you are the guy you should have two or three
21:01touchdowns
21:01over 50 yards by now because this is a these are two quarterbacks that can throw the football down
21:06the field and we're not even seeing you being targeted on balls down the field so in this after
21:12this bye week if I'm in there waiting to interview somebody and J.J. McCarthy brings in receiver one
21:19two I need to see Mooney is that third receiver in there with him to get comfortable with McCarthy
21:26because you have a quarterback where hey just run I'm gonna put it out there you saw Jalen Hyatt got
21:32the deep ball Paul yeah Jalen Hyatt got the deep ball and I heard he called it they were successful
21:39with that in practice that's why they kept that in so ladies and gentlemen we saw tape we saw the
21:46the
21:46re uh the re-emergence or the reintroduction of Tay Banks and some of these other guys Jalen Hyatt could
21:54be the next one up let's Riverside it and talk about the defense because yeah Matt Nagy deserves
22:00his flowers Greg Roman Willie Taggart they deserve their flowers Chris Horton with the special teams
22:06outside of Zavada having another shaky game what he's doing with Jordan Stout absolutely love it
22:12Denardo Wilson down Brian Burns Tremaine Edmonds and what I'm not gonna lie Paul when I saw that Javon
22:21Holland was out as well I said oh man I turned it to just be competitive this game that's what
22:27I
22:27turned into just be competitive this game and the defense played very well this football game outside
22:34of the the DPIs and the defensive holdings but do you feel as though Denardo Wilson and this defense
22:41can sustain at least that level of play or can at least turn it up a bit a little bit
22:49more after the
22:49by no it's going to be a challenge because he doesn't have you know there's certain things he
22:54just can't lean on you know he can't say we're going to get pressure with four guys because they
22:58really don't with four guys you know he doesn't want to blitz as much as he has you know I
23:03mean
23:03look it's easy to say just blitz blitz blitz you know blitz 50 60 percent of times his blitz rate
23:08this
23:08past game was not that high you know there was one play at the end uh towards the end where
23:13you know and
23:14and and CJ Stroud said he said look they had a good play I think it was was in um
23:18overtime with
23:19I think Micah McFadden stuffed the run for no gain or one yard and then Stout has a little bit
23:25of
23:26Stout a little bit of pressure on him and he looks and says well all of a sudden the pass
23:30rushers down
23:30the field Kavon who had an interception right you know and you know you know but I mean but but
23:36Stroud said good play by them I didn't expect him to be there you know I mean he shouldn't be
23:41there
23:41he should be rushing me so um I think you know it has to be creative because there's just not
23:46enough
23:46you know Abdul Carter can't do it all by himself and he's been terrific I mean he's terrific we'll
23:51talk about him a little bit just on the end just about his leadership and things like that but um
23:55look I talked to Deontay Banks in the locker room after the calls he talked to you Paul yeah yeah
24:01no
24:01he's he's you know he's fine he doesn't have a lot to say but he's accommodating enough and I like
24:08it
24:08he's not like okay now I'm I'm feeling myself you know look you guys didn't believe in me or
24:13whatever he just doesn't want to say that much he really doesn't he is very locked in he's very
24:18appreciative for this opportunity I think he's very happy that this coaching staff believes in him
24:23he is playing I mean he I mean whatever awards I give you know he's their comeback player you know
24:31he's he's in he's one of the top five if you would top five MVPs of the season he's in
24:38the top five
24:38for MVP of the Giants um he's their comeback player look kudos to the coaching staff yes but it's the
24:46player you know the the player can the coaching staff can can can work you and give you the drills
24:53and say we trust you and we're confident in you but the player has to do it it's not just
24:58oh now they
24:59believe in me now I'm a good player again so he clearly has turned his career around um he's going
25:05to make a lot of money if this keeps up and I have no issue with any of that he's
25:10he's good I mean he's
25:11a he's a good I mean I mean they told him during the week look you know I mean um
25:16um um Newsom's not
25:17here you know Adebo's coming back you know and and look that's like a new player coming back Paulson Adebo's
25:22a quality player if he if he puts his mind to it there's no question physically so they told
25:27Deontay look Nico Collins is their best guy you're gonna roam with him almost all game we're gonna
25:32just do it I mean he had two catches for six yards I mean it was it was it was
25:37it was terrific it was
25:39terrific and and I did not expect at the start of this year to be going on a podcast with
25:44you and
25:44talking about how Deontay Banks is in that top five for MVPs it is it is great for the it's
25:50great for
25:51everybody it's great for Joe Shane and the scouts who drafted him that high it's great for the people in
25:56the building it's great for Deontay Banks it did this new coaching it's great for everybody it's
26:00it's it's just terrific and um you know it doesn't happen as much because maybe the player can't do it
26:06or teams just don't want to wait that long the the player in me is looking at when everyone's like
26:12what what got in the banks what got into him it's two things pride pride you you never want to
26:17be
26:17you never want to click on the tv or click on a radio series xm or whatnot and everyone's talking
26:23about oh how you're a bust you don't care everyone's calling you out you don't want to hear
26:27that that can only go for so long you can only turn the tv off for so long so one
26:32I feel like the pride
26:33two you're looking at the money they gave Paulson a debo and you're like that should be my check
26:44he's got twins now
26:46got twins that's my check with that two years 40 something million dollars or whatever that deal
26:57was that should be my check I'm you guys's first round pick I'm you I had the the really solid
27:05year
27:06and gave you guys a lot of hope that I can hold down an island or hold down one half
27:11of a football
27:12field during my rookie year I showed the signs now you brought in a a d coordinator and a shame
27:18bone that I wasn't feeling it and then the Jerome Anderson thing maybe like obviously that that db's
27:25coach just gotta echo the sentiment or echo what the d coordinator I need more of that guy I need
27:30more of that guy so then that causes the whole disruption this is just me as a player not not
27:35saying that this happened or anything so now you're looking at the db coach like oh you just work for
27:39them you're not you're not you're not you're not listening I don't want to play off I want to put
27:43you up in a guy's face I want to be there but now this resurgence has just been unbelievable when
27:48it
27:48comes to Tate Banks and uh just quick story before we move on we can talk about Abdul I did
27:53the 50 yards
27:54with Tate Banks uh last week you saw the Giants only cut the first 10 to 15 yards because Paul
28:02they
28:03said I had him talking too much they said they wanted it to be it's they're like Brent it's 50
28:08yards we wanted quick questions like quick and he was talking too much to where they cut half the
28:14piece Tate Banks this is this is the reinvention or this is this is a new tape same Tate Banks
28:21but
28:22just a newer version TB 2.0 because this has been fun to watch um I asked you the same
28:28question earlier
28:29about the offense who do you want to see step up so good good step up bad step up and
28:34who do you want
28:35to who do you think is going to have their breakout on the other half of this bye week and
28:39you kind of
28:40mentioned Abdul Carter a little bit earlier yeah well look I mean he he's he's you know without new age
28:48metrics you know what I mean Abdul Carter's numbers are not are not impressive you know what I mean sacks
28:55and tackles and things like that but if you if you watch the game you see what the impact he's
29:00making
29:00you definitely see it you know look John Harbaugh said at halftime Abdul Carter came in and said empty the
29:06tank you know we have to empty the tank you know when we come back in here win or lose
29:11make sure you got
29:12nothing left you know I mean um and so he is becoming a vocal leader um he's a really good
29:19player I think
29:20there's more for him you know I think some of this production could could you know some of this
29:24pressure and and he's you know you want to protect him by not playing him every snap but you know
29:29then
29:30Burns went down and the guy he does not get tired I don't think I mean it's hard to you
29:34know I mean
29:35so so that I'm I'm really you know interested in watching he's a fun guy to watch develop the player
29:41there's no question and um and um you know so that would be my guy you know and the interior
29:46guys you
29:46know I want them to you know Reader's been terrific uh if Darius Alexander can maybe emerge a little bit
29:52you know the defensive backs are playing fine I mean they're they're good and they've got some depth
29:56here's the key they have depth Tremaine Edmonds is a big hit he's a big hit but Micah McFadden came
30:03in
30:04and played extremely well right Kayvon comes off the bench now to play for Burns he's not Brian Burns but
30:10he's a bonafide NFL player who does things that can help you win maybe not make you win but
30:16help you win you know Adibo was benched right you know they he's a backup you you are the most
30:21money
30:22but you didn't do it in training camp so you're not going to start and then he gets hurt and
30:26he's
30:26on IR it's easy to say yeah he's a waste he's not you know now he comes back he'll play
30:31believe me
30:32they'll find places for him to play you know you can never have too many so um depth is very
30:37important
30:37and and now they can't get you know at some point the depth runs out but um this depth with
30:42McFadden and you know Jason Pinnock Jason you said when Holland was out you're like oh boy
30:46Pinnock is a player he can play who's an NFL player you can play before they let him walk
30:52yeah so that that's good that's good you can't you know you need players on your bench who can play
30:57who you and and if they don't like being on the bench then so be it you know play great
31:02and you'll
31:03get your opportunity very rare when a guy does not get his opportunity my guy that I want to see
31:08more
31:09of Paulson Debo you call it Paulson Debo because this right here this back end this back stretch
31:15rather it's going to be here it could be somewhere else this is where you keep that money this is
31:19where
31:19you keep that check that what you were just blessed with that two-year deal Joe Shane gave you
31:25you can keep it and I feel as though because they are so that's funny like we we're saying this
31:31now
31:32they're deep in the secondary which the secondary had the biggest question mark on it going into the
31:39spring into the summer they are now I feel as though Paulson Debo could be able to be a guy
31:47to now
31:48they take out a Tyler Nubin or a safety and put him in there to cover a bigger tight end
31:55or a or
31:56athletic tight end when you get to the 49ers and the Greg kiddos you get to the Lions and Sam
32:02Laportas
32:02I think that you can now put Paulson Debo a bigger body corner and be up on on on a
32:09tight end
32:10Denar Wilson is going to find a way to not so much save hit his career but to get the
32:14most out of
32:15Paulson Debo and I feel like this back end is it's up for you bro like it's it's here you
32:22could be that
32:22next guy that's going to step in save face here in in in New York and then whatever happens happens
32:30but it's that's why when you talk about uh Abdul Carter when you say Abdul Carter and the leadership
32:39and and stepping up telling Harbaugh he'll empty the tank do you see what winning does do you see what
32:46believing in the the operation not just the coaching side just the operation that from Donna Ponte
32:53to Joe Shane to the head coach your locker room you believe in the operation and they say winning
33:01can cure all and whatnot no it's hard to go in and step in that building which you're already in
33:07that
33:07facility more than you are more than you are your own house or apartment you're around your your
33:14your teammates your teammate family more than you around your own family and y'all are losing
33:19I don't want to play ping pong with you you just you jumped all sides that gave us the freaking
33:24game
33:24I don't want to be around you so that can get to you just think about doing the podcast over
33:29the
33:29years we're like what are we going to talk about today they got beat by the 49ers took over the
33:36facility or Brennan I'm tired of talking about Shador Sanders in September and the drafts not till April it
33:43just does that much more for everybody and now you've got a locker room that they're all in they
33:51believe they believe in the man the the fisher of men and the men that he put around that coaching
33:57staff
33:57to put around and to help get the most out of each one of these players and you can see
34:02it next man up
34:03means something completely different this year than what it's meant in the past because of the death and
34:09because we believe in our leader uh finish this out Paul we're scheduled for the rest of the week
34:13what do you have coming out in the in the paper this week tell us let's give us the goods
34:18give us
34:19the goods all right now locker room uh look the players are in on Tuesday and then they're done
34:23for you know Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday they're off you know go take a break
34:26so uh some locker room stuff today and uh Joe Shane speaks today always speaks at the bye
34:31comes early right so you get Joe Shane coming off a win in first place I don't think you know
34:36so he'll
34:36it'll be a little the Inquisition will be a little different this year than in other years and um
34:40look I'll leave you with this um how about John Harbaugh after the game he was so excited after
34:45that game for a Giants head coach to say this right we're going to be in this thing to the
34:51end now
34:51you know that's a bold thing to say you know I'm we're going to be in this thing to the
34:55end now
34:56right and so um yeah the that's the expectations is oh I thought the Giants would win eight or nine
35:02games
35:02and they miss out on the playoffs so if that happens that's fine no no you reassess they're
35:08four two and one they're in first place the division is not good I think the Cowboys are the
35:12are the by far the biggest threat in the division is the Cowboys the Giants have beaten them once
35:18um Giants will go into the bye in first place the Cowboys you know took off took care of the
35:22Eagles so
35:23they'll see the Cowboys in Dallas later in the year but no this is now a heightened expectation
35:28with this quarterback who looks good with this coach who is a winner um with enough players you
35:34know they can't afford a lot of serious injuries here they lord knows they've had enough but um
35:39we're going to be in it to the end look Halloween's coming they're they're in first place um Thanksgiving's
35:45coming Thanksgiving's coming they're going to be close they're going to be in it and and you know
35:49and and so it's going to be a it's going to be a really fun ride look that we're going
35:53to come on
35:54some of these podcasts and it's going to be a terrible loss and we're going to oh man we're
35:58going to you know there's going to be a terrible loss here because there always is there always is
36:01I I would leave you with this the next week after they come off the bye will determine the season
36:06in
36:07my mind at Philly on Sunday at the home against the commanders on Thursday those four days you know
36:15those four days will tell us um if we should be completely sold on the Giants or
36:22that was bad those four days man they're going to tell us a lot
36:26we're going to end it there we hate to say bye guys but it's the bye week I would appreciate
36:31you
