Three failures, recorded in the order they were found.
The first is a roof — a shell structure about two kilometres across that folded inward and settled into a shape that reads, from one angle, as an animal skull. It isn't. It's concrete doing what concrete does when it loses its supports, and the resemblance is the most unsettling thing in the sequence precisely because nobody intended it.
The second is the crater it fell into: a ring wall wide enough to contain an entire settlement at its base, and that settlement is still intact, still lit, still standing. The collapse that made this landscape did not reach it.
The third is a facade that never broke at all. It deformed, slowly, over a period long enough that the folds look like flow rather than fracture — no spalling, no cracks, just concrete behaving like something soft.
For viewers interested in brutalism, megastructures, architectural failure, liminal spaces and quiet dystopian worldbuilding: the chapter is about the difference between destruction and deformation, and about the fact that neither of them makes a sound.
