Second entry in THE LONG BUILDING, a series about architecture at a scale that stops being architecture and becomes weather.
The premise is simple and unpleasant: the sky in these frames is not sky. It is the underside of another settlement — rows of apartment blocks with their windows facing down, balconies hanging, the two layers separated by just enough air for fog to form between them.
Everything in the image follows from that one fact. Sunlight arrives in stripes, so the grass below grows in stripes. The people on the staircase look like insects not because they're far away, but because they are genuinely that small relative to the structure. And somewhere in the third frame there's a bear, standing in a field, indifferent to all of it.
The palette stays deliberately flat — overcast grey, pale concrete, cold green, no dramatic lighting. The horror here isn't spectacle. It's the ordinary: laundry, stairwells, windows, a bear.
For anyone following brutalist architecture, Soviet and Yugoslav modernist housing, megastructures, liminal spaces or worldbuilding — the series asks one question, and it gets worse every episode: whose floor are we standing on?
Technical notes: AI-generated concept art, assembled into a continuous sequence, original ambient score. 4K vertical and widescreen masters. English subtitles; French and German tracks in progress.
