Ejercito sees no disruption to 2027 budget

Sen. JV Ejercito on Monday expressed confidence that the leadership changes at the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Department of Transportation would not disrupt the 2027 budget process, saying the incoming officials were familiar with key infrastructure priorities and funding requirements.

Ejercito, chairman of the Senate finance committee, said he had worked with Secretaries Vince Dizon and Manuel Lopez and discussed with them the need to sustain funding for major infrastructure projects, particularly railways, airports and foreign-assisted initiatives.

00:00Normally, it's really a problem because it's been a budget season.
00:06But having worked with both Secretary Vince Nison and Secretary Manuel Lopez, I'm quite familiar with both of them.
00:14Buti na lang din, as Chairman Committee on Finance, I handle both, Department of Public Works and Department of Transportation.
00:23And I have been in talks with them for several occasions, mostly about work of course.
00:34And si Secretary Vince Nison, bago siya nag-DPWH, was already with DOTR.
00:40And we have been pushing for the same things ever since.
00:43Yung mga railway system, yan ang concern namin.
00:46Yung funding for the foreign assistance projects, lapang tuloy-tuloy.
00:53And of course, yung mga NSER or South Commuter Railway, Metal Metal Soundway System, and so on.
01:00Improvement of airports.
01:01Yan ang sinusulong namin, pinag-usapan natin mula noon.
01:05At gano'n din pinag-usapan namin kay Secretary Banoy.
01:08Hopefully, gano'n lang din.
01:10So, I don't think it will be a difficult concession kasi familiar naman na.
01:17I have worked with Secretary Bins already as DOTR.
01:22So, Secretary Banoy naman as DPWH, I'm hoping that he will continue the reforms that were started after the flood
01:30control issue.
01:46Pero ako talaga, I would like to push on projects that will have high impact on the economy and yung
01:57mga katunong din sa servision natin.
