00:00Now, back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game.
00:06All righty, time for the crossover.
00:08And on Fridays, it's brought to you by Atco Pest Control.
00:12And then coming up in 10 minutes, it is the What's Bugging You segment on a Friday.
00:17Let's welcome in the boys from Splash, Dan Dibley and Mark Willard,
00:22who will have Steve Kerr on in about a half hour.
00:26I'm sorry, an hour and a half.
00:28Hey, gents.
00:28An hour and a half, yeah.
00:29What's up, fellas?
00:30The math is there, Stiney.
00:32What's up, boys?
00:33How we doing?
00:34Oh, dynamite.
00:34Just being positive as we can be.
00:36That's what it sounded like the whole way over here.
00:38It sounded like everyone's like, yeah, Warriors.
00:41Warriors, am I right?
00:43Like, this is some great stuff.
00:45We're about to cook up in this building tonight.
00:47We got Yaks and Lung Luzer, baby.
00:49We got all the negativity out of the way.
00:50So you guys have a great show for four hours on, you know,
00:54the positive aspects of this team.
00:57Are you both going inside for the game?
00:59I am, yes.
01:00Absolutely.
01:01Dibbers, I'm going to be real.
01:03I'm going to Shibuzi tonight.
01:04Look at him.
01:05All right.
01:06I'm going to be at the Masonic with my lady,
01:08but we will be having cocktails and watching before we go in.
01:13I can promise you that.
01:15Well, that sounds great.
01:17Hey, let's, you know what, guys?
01:19Let's get right to it because obviously it's a big deal.
01:23World Series starting tonight.
01:26Yeah, huge.
01:27Kyle Harrison Revenge Series.
01:29Let's go.
01:30That's so bad, right?
01:30It's so bad.
01:31Mavericks and Fives, Stiney?
01:33Is that what we're going with?
01:34I don't know where that came from.
01:36I'm just saying the World Series starting tonight.
01:40Those of us who Cal Sheet many weeks ago raised to win it all actually are quite interested
01:46in the weather that this might play out.
01:48But I hear you.
01:50Yeah, this one doesn't quite wet the whistle, does it?
01:53That's just terrible, man.
01:54It's just the day Friday.
01:55It wets the whistle for a friend of mine, Dana Ali, who's a Milwaukee native and has
02:00a sister that works for the Brewers, and he'll be at those two games.
02:05He's going to the game?
02:06Yeah.
02:06Oh, man.
02:07That's awesome.
02:08That's what happens when you've got a flexible schedule.
02:09I got you.
02:10I would know.
02:12I shouldn't talk.
02:14Like, I kind of, I get bummed, though, when we do this.
02:17Like, oh, it's not New York, and it's not L.A., so like.
02:22Thank you, Will.
02:23You know what I mean?
02:24Yes, it's the World Series.
02:26You ever seen Junior Caminero hit a home run?
02:28It's pretty freaking exciting.
02:30Caminero.
02:31He's doing cartwheels.
02:32He's pointing to people.
02:33He's doing backflips.
02:35Like, I don't know.
02:36I don't know.
02:36Like, you know, it's not the Dodgers, so yay.
02:40Well, what about this?
02:41Does this, I'm switching it up real quick because we just got the news that Mike Evans
02:44will be out Sunday in Atlanta.
02:46Does it make me weird that I'm kind of curious?
02:49I'm just curious, and I want him to get his rest.
02:52I've been saying that.
02:53But what if I told you I'm looking forward to seeing the offense without him?
02:57Well, you're going to get your wish come Sunday.
02:59Yes.
03:00I guess I'm not looking forward to seeing it without him.
03:03I'm looking forward to seeing the offense when they have everybody, if they ever will have
03:09everybody.
03:09And if he's out, it looks like Christian Kirk might be in, and so I'd be looking forward
03:14to that and seeing, not that Christian Kirk can be Mike Evans, but can he be, for a week,
03:19wide receiver one?
03:20Because if he's not, you're going to be leaning on McCaffrey.
03:23It might be one of these 35 touch games for CMC.
03:27Well, and I guess, you know, 35 obviously would be a big, big number, but maybe you do play
03:32this game with the buy in mind.
03:36I think that's what you're getting at, Dibs, knowing that they don't have a game next week.
03:40And, you know, maybe the risk is a tad lower by using him more in this game Sunday.
03:47Well, also, I'm not saying that they will or should use him more.
03:50This is kind of a cushion game.
03:51You don't ever want to give one away in the National Football League, but you're 6-0, you've
03:57got some guys injured, and you've got a cushion on Seattle, and you've got a cushion on the
04:03Rams who are reeling.
04:04Puka Nakua may not play.
04:06So, again, you never want to just straight give up a game, but you might see a lot more
04:11Kalon Black, and you might see a lot more of guys we don't normally see, thinking that,
04:16you know, if we lose, it's not the end of the world.
04:19I'm going to push back on this.
04:20I bet that the San Francisco 49ers love listening to everybody.
04:25I heard national talk this week about load management.
04:29Here, Guru, you'd like to see what they look like without Mike Evans.
04:34In a weird way.
04:34The best of a bad situation.
04:36I get it.
04:36Go ahead.
04:37I get it.
04:37You want to see Brock and Kyle cook and put the team on their backs.
04:43I know.
04:44And then I think Stiney, you, and Dibbs have both said a number of times leading up to this
04:48one, it sort of strikes a chord of like, ah, if you get this one, great, but it's kind
04:54of okay if you don't.
04:55I bet that pisses people like Fred Warner off something awful.
05:00I bet they use it to their advantage this weekend.
05:03I expect the 49ers to win this game and play well, because I don't think the culture of the
05:09NFL allows for, ah, if I don't get this one, it's okay.
05:13I just don't think, I don't think they think that way at all.
05:16Well, I actually don't think Kyle Shanahan has the ability, I really don't, to think that
05:24way.
05:25I agree.
05:26I mean, it's anathema.
05:31Like, he just, there's no way a thought could approach his head as like, eh, we got a little,
05:37we got some room here.
05:38I mean, isn't this what we've made fun of?
05:40The idea that that's how the Rams handled Australia?
05:43And Stiney was a big one of that.
05:44Like, we're good.
05:45We're so awesome that like, let's just plan week two in the victory party already.
05:50And now you're two and four and have no wide receivers.
05:54Have a season.
05:55Have a great time.
05:55Like, you don't, you don't mess with this stuff, man.
05:59You get 17 of these.
06:00And when you play them, you try like hell to win every single one of them.
06:05But at the same time, you've got Mike Evans, who is probably a maybe.
06:10And I always think if this were a playoff game, would he go out there and play?
06:14I bet he would, but it's not.
06:16And you're heading into the bye.
06:17So you do have a week off on the back end.
06:19You're on a short week.
06:21Shout out, Loneal.
06:22So there are factors that lead you to approach it differently.
06:25When the ball gets teed up, when the coin gets tossed and stuff, you're not going to be thinking,
06:30you know what, we don't even need to win this.
06:32I agree with that part of it.
06:33But the approach and the run-up is such that you get Bosa an extra week, you give Evans a
06:38week,
06:39and then the bye week.
06:40I do think you approach it differently based on the fact you're 6-0.
06:43I wonder.
06:44I wonder.
06:45D, real quick, Evans has been ruled out, I thought.
06:48Yeah, yeah.
06:49I got you.
06:49He's saying if it were a playoff game, he would play.
06:52Okay, got you, got you, got you.
06:52And I'm saying, I don't know that.
06:54I mean, like, you watch him on Monday night, like, he was limping before the game even started.
07:01So I don't know to what level Mike could or could not go out there and play.
07:07I think they feel good that it's not like a terrible, terrible injury.
07:11But I get, I completely get what you're saying, Dibs, with regard to, like, it might be different if this
07:17were a playoff game.
07:17But I don't know.
07:18I don't want to make a guess about what's going on with anyone's health.
07:21He might really, really not be.
07:23What I know about Mike Evans is he treats every game like a playoff game.
07:27Doesn't it sound like that's the way he's been treating all these games?
07:30Yeah.
07:30We also know that Cavs are tricky.
07:32Cavs are tricky.
07:33And this is an occasion.
07:34They were up 29 last night.
07:35Yeah, no doubt.
07:37Hey, Mark, I know it's not quite hot stove season.
07:42Not quite.
07:43But I don't know if you were listening.
07:45Did you listen earlier when I broke some Giants news?
07:49I think I might have missed this, Stiney.
07:52Please, re-break it if you would.
07:54I'm dead serious.
07:55This is great.
07:55We're not, we'll forego the sounder.
07:58However, I bumped into Larry Baer yesterday.
08:01Oh, no, I did hear this.
08:03Did he tell you, hold on a second.
08:05Yes, he did.
08:06Because I was driving right by Safeway.
08:08I was getting ready to see some people in the aisles.
08:10I remember exactly where I was.
08:12And I heard Stiney, I heard you say that he told you.
08:17He did.
08:17Exclusively, Mark.
08:18That the Giants.
08:20Yes.
08:20He's got the Giants.
08:22Yes.
08:22I was trying to get some pitching this offseason.
08:27Well, I don't, I don't.
08:29That's crazy talk, Stiney.
08:31Mark, I've got to tell you exactly how he said it.
08:34Because it was a little bit different than that.
08:36He said he liked their farm system.
08:40And that, obviously, this was the direct quote.
08:45We got to get some pitching.
08:47So there it is.
08:48Wow.
08:49You're welcome, guys.
08:50Man.
08:51Listen, you think Larry doesn't trust me with big-time information?
08:54Put that in your face.
08:56You're the go-to source for baseball news.
08:58Absolutely.
08:59Are you sure he knew who you were?
09:01Yes.
09:02That's always my question, Larry.
09:04I asked him, too.
09:05We'll put it this way.
09:06You know, as soon as I saw him, we started talking.
09:09The first conversation was about the Warriors.
09:11And we were both like, yeah, I don't know, tough opening night.
09:14Looks like they might struggle.
09:16This, that, and the other thing.
09:17And then there was a lull.
09:18And I said, well, you got some fish to fry.
09:21Yeah, a little bit.
09:22A little bit.
09:23And that's when Larry might have acted like he didn't know you.
09:27Larry, once upon a time, it was still early in my tenure here back home in the Bay.
09:32But Larry, once upon a time, sort of did to me what Mike Evans did to Diggs in Seattle.
09:39That's great.
09:39Yeah, I pulled him up on him there in the hallways at the stadium.
09:45And we're kind of talking a little bit.
09:47And he's like, oh, yeah, this, that, and the other.
09:50And then he grabs the credential.
09:51All right, now who am I talking to?
09:53I'm like, oh, my God, Larry.
09:54Like, we've met.
09:57We've met before, Larry.
09:58Hey, Mark, you know what?
09:59I got to change my story now, come to think of it.
10:01Okay, please do.
10:02And I got, because in the interest of accuracy, you said, did he know who you were?
10:06And I said, yes, in actuality, now I've met Larry and we've talked a lot, but I haven't
10:12seen him in forever.
10:13So in fairness, when I saw him, I approached him and said, hey, Larry, Matt Steinmetz and
10:19extended my hand.
10:20Yeah, I'm good.
10:21And then, you know, he went, Matt, Matt, how you doing?
10:24There's certain people who meet a lot of people and they struggle.
10:29And I'm not even saying Larry is one of these people necessarily.
10:32I'll just say this.
10:33I've met Rick Barry 18 times.
10:36For the first time, right?
10:38Right.
10:38Yeah, yeah.
10:39That's the lead.
10:39That's just some of those people.
10:41Yeah.
10:42That makes sense.
10:42That makes sense.
10:43Yeah.
10:43Who the hell am I?
10:44Why would they know?
10:45Will, as you had, you guys had me laughing yesterday real quick here.
10:49I'm at the light.
10:50And when people look in your car and they see you laughing and you're by yourself, they
10:54get weirded out.
10:55But your story about when you saw Miles Turner, he wasn't moving the fest last time you saw him.
11:00Yeah.
11:01I said, well, damn, Will.
11:03You had me chuckling, man.
11:04Remember when you told me a number of months ago, and I'll leave the player's name out
11:09my mouth on this one, but when you told me that there's a certain NBA player that looks
11:14like the old dudes at the Y, they're kind of like, right, their chest is kind of out.
11:19I got you.
11:19The shoulders back run that you showed me.
11:22Yeah.
11:22Miles had a little bit of that.
11:24And I don't even think he was 30 yet.
11:26I was like, my God, that's a big man who's lumbering right now.
11:30Did you just say he couldn't play?
11:31He just, he was moving a little bit.
11:32No, yeah, he just, I was like, wow, that guy's only 29.
11:35Woof.
11:36All righty.
11:37It's time for, uh, what's, oh, let me do the legal.
11:40Uh, you're listening to 95.7 The Game, KGMZ FM, and HD1 San Francisco and Odyssey Sports
11:44Station.
11:45Always live on the free Odyssey app, but now broadcasting from the Laughing Monk Studios.
11:49And it is the What's Bugging You segment, sponsored by Atko Pest Control.

12:12I'm going first.
12:13Woo.
12:13Wow, go ahead.
12:15Damn.
12:15And this is going to be the gutsiest What's Bugging You of all time.
12:22And here's why.
12:23You know, there's a lot of media beefs out there, right?
12:26You know, this guy doesn't like this guy.
12:28And then all of a sudden, these media guys, you know, are in the spotlight.
12:31And I'm, I could be risking that right now.
12:35And I'm a little scared because I'm going after a titan.
12:38And we're going to see if this titan's got a sense of humor.
12:41And what's bugging me today is Tim Kawakami.
12:44Ooh.
12:45Oh.
12:45Yeah.
12:46Oh, this is high level.
12:47Yeah, exactly.
12:48Exactly.
12:50Tongue in cheek.
12:51Anyway.
12:52Ah.
12:53Oh, my God.
12:55You just defended.
12:57You ruined me.
12:57Okay, well.
12:58You have us.
12:59Grandy, cut that out.
13:00I'm coming down his road.
13:03Yeah.
13:03With a bouquet of flowers.
13:05Exactly.
13:06Coming down his road.
13:06Exactly.
13:07Tim, I love you.
13:09You know that.
13:10However.
13:11This is edgy.
13:11You cannot make your Warriors season prediction after the first game.
13:20I'm sorry.
13:22He acknowledged it.
13:24You can't have knowledge that Porzingis is going to miss the season.
13:29And then they put out a clunker.
13:31That first game and first day was an automatic minus five off whatever win total you thought
13:39before the Laker game and before the Porzingis news.
13:42So, I feel like, Tim, you know, that prediction, though only one game late, is null and void.
13:54There you go.
13:56Oh, man.
13:57Wow, that was.
13:58You think he'll blow me up on Twitter?
14:00That was a banger.
14:02Or block you.
14:03Yeah.
14:04He's already blocked me.
14:06I'm already blocked.
14:07Block-tober's not over yet.
14:09So, it's a possibility.
14:12I actually kind of agree with you.
14:14You can't make predictions after the season already started.
14:17Well, they have win totals that you can trade on, trade on anything, and they fluctuate throughout
14:22the course of a season.
14:24So, it's all the same.
14:26Yeah.
14:27I'll tell you what.
14:29If I had him at 42, and then I present, and I, like, theoretically, I can make a prediction
14:35now.
14:36But did you make a prediction before the season?
14:38Not really.
14:39I didn't, actually.
14:39You don't usually do that.
14:41Oh, no.
14:41I got the Warriors going one and one after tonight.
14:44All right.
14:44There you go.
14:46Okay.
14:46Then lock that up.
14:47I got the Giants going.
14:48Hold it.
14:49I got to get Twitter.
14:50I got to get Twitter up right now to see if.
14:53You got some problems?
14:56Of course, he'd be like, yeah, I don't listen to that show.
14:58No.
14:58All right.
14:59I'll go next.
15:00I'm an animal person, and I just wish, can we find a different spot to do the vaccines
15:08for dogs?
15:09My dog was due for her vaccines today.
15:12So I took her in, and I want to shout out VIP Pet Care, because they do an awesome job.
15:17It's kind of a mobile vaccine clinic that comes to the pet store near you all over the
15:21bay.
15:22And so I went out there today, and it was time for all of her vaccines.
15:25And it's like, okay, this one goes in the leg, and this one goes in the side, and this
15:29one goes in the face.
15:32And I'm like, this is a 63-pound dog, and I've got two people on the ground inside a
15:39pet store with a bear hug around the dog, trying to hold her face absolutely still so
15:46that they can jab her, basically, in the mouth of the nose.
15:49And it is unsettling, to say the least.
15:53And you're sitting there on the ground with the dog trying to get in her view to calm her
15:58down so she can see dad and all this, and I'm just like, this is, can we just, I don't
16:03know, can we just stab her in the side?
16:06She doesn't even feel those.
16:08They got to do it in the face?
16:10I just, I didn't, it was just an unpleasant experience.
16:13They did a great job, but this was not a pleasant experience for me or for the dog.
16:17I wonder what the vaccine was that needs to go in the face.
16:20I don't know which one.
16:21I have a list of what they did, but I don't know which is which.
16:24Yeah, and the fact that it was all three in one sitting, that in and of itself is, that's
16:31right, that's tough.
16:32What's bugging me is not a what, but a who, and it's Luka Doncic, and he has been bugging
16:37me for a lot longer than just the other night, but the way he carries on, it's bad for ball.
16:43Shout out Michael Urban, rest in peace.
16:44Oh, man.
16:45A lasting legacy for big herbs, but the league gets a bad rap, and it's because of these people
16:51like Luka, who throw themselves around, and I can't wait to talk to Steve Kerr later
16:56today at 315 about the whole Yaxl Luka experience, but he makes watching basketball less pleasurable
17:04because of the way he carries on, so it's not a what, it's a who, and it might actually
17:09be a whom, and it's Luka Doncic.
17:12Hmm.
17:13Is Yaxl anywhere near you guys, Willard?
17:16Right now?
17:17Yeah.
17:17No, I don't.
17:18I was like, Willard.
17:19I feel like I'd see him.
17:21That's a big boy.
17:22I was doing that because Dibs was going in on Luka.
17:25I get you.
17:25Oh, yeah.
17:26You thought that was for a fact.
17:27Yeah, bad material.
17:29I'm trying to butter up my guy, Yaxl.
17:31Right.
17:32All right, I'll go, and I gotta be careful here because I'm Mr. Tomorrow's Not Promise, but
17:38I always felt like, you know, athletes, men and women, that's their temple, and a lot
17:44of them have natural gifts, but what we do know is a lot of them bust their ass and they're
17:49disciplined left and right on what they put in their bodies, and I feel like if I were
17:54president or I could control it, you know, if you're a pro athlete and you've done that
17:59at the pro level and, you know, exhibited that discipline that sickness shouldn't come
18:07your way or stuff like what Lou Gehrig is dealing with or dealt with ALS, Chris Johnson,
18:13and last night I'm watching Marshall Falk, and, you know, hopefully he beats it, but
18:19he announces he has Parkinson's or he's dealing with that, and it just got, I'm just bugged
18:24when regular humans get stuff like that, but I always thought, you know, pro athletes,
18:29you know, they spend so many years taking care of their body, you know, you would think
18:33you would be immune to stuff, but we're all, you know, the human race, but I don't
18:37know, I just got me feeling some type of way, like, I hate what Marshall's going
18:41through, and I know everybody can get sick, and we've seen it, but I just, hearing
18:47Marshall Falk and watching Chris Johnson, what he was on the field, and now dealing
18:52with what they're dealing with, man, my heart just went out, but I guess what's
18:55bugging me, guys, is sickness, man, and we all got to deal with it, and we got loved
19:00ones dealing with it, but I wish I had a cure for everything, so we could be here
19:04forever, man.
19:06Enjoy every day, man, right?
19:09Like, who knows what the hell anybody's going to wake up with tomorrow, but I mean, it's
19:14interesting that you say, like, you think of professional athletes, and they take care
19:17of their bodies, I mean, football players, I kind of look at it some ways the opposite,
19:23I know they take care of their bodies while they're playing, but this sport, the sport is
19:26vicious, man, we enjoy it, but I don't think we would enjoy a documentary on what most NFL
19:34players are doing when they're 50 and 60.
19:36Well, think about Roger Craig and getting inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame,
19:39and he's got dementia, so, you know, I'm not sure how much of it he is actually able to
19:46fully retain, and I know a lot of it he is, but then you see something with Marshall Falk,
19:51and he's younger than me, younger than all of us, he's like Willard's age, maybe a shade
19:55older, and seriously, and you think about, like, what he went through playing the way
20:01he played where, you know, he's a thousand-thousand guy, and he's taking on linebackers year after
20:06year, and I think about my brother Lorenzo Neal, and he and I have had many conversations
20:11about, you know, what he might be dealing with, and it could be right around the corner,
20:16and, you know, that man put his helmet, he put that big grilled cheese on people for
20:2117 years. Wow. You ever done that on air? Oh yeah. Yeah, like I, there was a segment I did
20:27years ago when I was working in San Diego, and my partner Rich Ornberger, who's a sweet guy,
20:33six years as an NFL offensive lineman, and we did a conversation, like he agreed to let me
20:40interview him just about CTE. Oh, come on, Mark. And like, what this feels like, and not that he
20:46has it, or I guess you don't know if you have it, and so what it's like in retirement for
20:52an NFL player
20:53to just think about that stuff, and the conversations you have with your wife and your kids when you're
20:59like, if you see this, let me know. Wow. Like, it, dude, it's, it's crazy. It is, it is absolutely
21:07gut-wrenching and fascinating all at the same time. Well, all right, guys, you can certainly bring
21:14it home from here. We'll be listening. Two to six, Willard and Dibbs, go down to Splash if you want
21:19to get a wixie. It's a beautiful day out here. I know it was raining yesterday, so if people are
21:25thinking it, it is gorgeous at Thrive City right now, so yeah, you got tickets, and even if you
21:31don't, come early, let's hang out, get some food here at Splash. They got a lot of good stuff going
21:36on. A beautiful day out here. Go Warriors, go Valkyries. Take it easy. Have a great weekend on 95.7.
