Willard and Dibs join Guru and Bonta (in for Steiny) on a Tuesday edition of the Crossover. The guys react to the Rams loss last night to the Bills, where the 49ers stand in the NFC West, Brandin Podziemski's extension with the Warriors, and more.
Transcript
00:00Now, back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game.
00:30I'm like, what the hell are they all talking about?
00:31Are you barking good, Smotherm, with the way you open that can?
00:35If there's anybody, it wasn't me.
00:36I'll bring my own.
00:38Oh, that was your clue.
00:39That was a clue.
00:40That was a clue.
00:41It was like, oh, a mistake.
00:43I love it.
00:44Now, and the way he rolls is like there's free food here, and we get off the air,
00:49and he usually, in our last break at like 5.40, 5.45, he'll be out there getting paper plates.
00:55I love it.
00:56One on the bottom, get whatever's there.
00:58One on the top, that's going to be dinner for my son.
01:01What do I do?
01:02I check with everybody.
01:03Always.
01:03You need some?
01:04You need some?
01:05But you wait until the day's over, but he is not going to be here.
01:08He's not the guy who's going to open something and leave it.
01:11He's not a half a donut guy.
01:13If he's going to take it, he's going to take it.
01:15But if he realized he took the wrong one, and he just put it back, because nobody drunk it.
01:19They opened it, then.
01:20Right, but he drinks the...
01:23I got it.
01:23Do I look like a guy who mistakenly opened someone else's drink?
01:28People thought it was Shafty.
01:30He had them thinking it was Shafty.
01:31Yeah, he blamed a brother in this.
01:32Yeah, I was like...
01:33Yeah, I didn't hear that, but...
01:37Speaking of the plates, that's something we grew up with, and Dibs will know this, because
01:40he has his black card.
01:41Okay.
01:42We don't even ask.
01:43We just kind of take the paper plate, stuff the plate, throw some foil over it, and go home.
01:46No, I always ask.
01:49I'm thinking to myself that I don't carry a box of Ziploc baggies with me.
01:54Man.
01:54Like, because then you do...
01:55You got to manufacture...
01:56Dibs has caught me in the kitchen searching through.
01:59I'm like, is there some tinfoil up in here or something?
02:01I love it.
02:02It's not here.
02:03I got to just bring it with me.
02:04It's a scoop and score, and I can't help but think about the...
02:07And all roads on our show lead to Kaminga.
02:09So, the story comes out that Kaminga and his people were taken, like, to-go food.
02:15First of all, was it true?
02:17Second of all, how did that get out?
02:19The smear campaign, that's what I thought of.
02:22Because here in Odyssey, like, there's leftover whatever, and we get off the air at six, and
02:27it's like, okay.
02:28That hurt me if that was true, but it was out.
02:30When that real food came out...
02:31First question, why would anyone care?
02:33That food's getting tossed, right?
02:34Dude, the food's getting tossed.
02:36Nobody cares.
02:37And when that story came out...
02:39Oh, man.
02:40That situation happened 18 months prior to the story coming out.
02:44Really?
02:44Oh, wow.
02:44It was a year-and-a-half-old story.
02:46Come on, man.
02:47So, somebody had it out for him.
02:48Somebody leaked it.
02:49Somebody said something.
02:50The story came...
02:51It was like, wait a minute.
02:52That's old news.
02:53Kind of already knew about that.
02:54Yeah.
02:54So, then it became a big deal because Kaminga was so polarizing, and now we get to Brandon
02:58Pajemski as it's time for the crossover.
03:00We've already done a crossover in a couple minutes.
03:02Brought to you by Bay Alarm.
03:03Rest easy.
03:04We've got you covered.
03:04Bayalarm.com.
03:06Now, we get to Brandon Pajemski.
03:07We were talking Niners for the first three hours.
03:09Couple calls.
03:09And Google.
03:10Couple calls.
03:10I heard you guys.
03:12And then Pajemski.
03:13And it would turn into incredible whole green everywhere.
03:16It's like, it's incredible.
03:17It's a damn nine.
03:18It's a shocker.
03:19You said Pajemski.
03:21You said Pajemski.
03:21I said Kaminga.
03:22And the phones went bananas.
03:24It's even Draybond.
03:25When I remember Steph, what game scored 46.
03:28And the next night, we say something by Draybond.
03:31Steph scored 46.
03:33Crickets.
03:34You're talking to yourself.
03:35So, Bonte's tired of doing, you know, actual, like, let's talk about.
03:38Niners radio.
03:39He's like, you know what?
03:40Pods.
03:41The contract.
03:41Give us a call.
03:42I'm chilling.
03:44I mean, it's great.
03:45You're doing it.
03:46No, 9-5-7.
03:48No, Googos.
03:48Let's talk a little warrior hoop today.
03:50Because the streets are saying we were avoiding doves talk yesterday.
03:53Don't hurt me.
03:53Right.
03:54Because we're afraid to tackle Chris S.
03:56Porzingis in front of Pajemski.
03:56You're on the heels of the best regular season game of the year.
03:59And, like, what Seattle did to you last year, and you came back and you got that win in that
04:04fashion with seven turnovers.
04:06Hello.
04:06I'm sorry, pods, and your contract.
04:08You have to wait.
04:08I've got to tell you this, Dibs.
04:10I'm talking to Sean.
04:11I'm a reporter, Daryl Johnson, from 95.7 The Game.
04:14I call myself Guru.
04:15I'm a little disappointed in you and how you've coached this year, and you've gone to the podium and owned
04:21it three different times.
04:23Sean, this could be your worst coaching year through five games.
04:26What do you got to say for that?
04:27I don't think you'd think that if my kicker actually was able to make the kick, and the kick got
04:31blocked.
04:31And when kicks get blocked, they don't go through the uprights.
04:33And when they don't go through the uprights, we don't get the points.
04:35So if we would have blocked the guy who blocked it, then the block would have been there, and then
04:38the block wouldn't happen, and the kick would have been good.
04:41I think you would all think a little bit differently about what I've done.
04:43And, yeah, the Australia thing was a debacle.
04:45And speaking of debacle, that was a debacle last night because all we have to do is make the kick,
04:49and we win the game.
04:50But how about the third and five, running the ball?
04:52What was that, Sean?
04:53You should have been more aggressive.
04:54Well, we like what we can do on the ground.
04:55We saw something there in the film that we thought that we could exploit.
04:58You know, Matthew Stafford is a little bit statuesque and, you know, not in the right way, not like the
05:02Statue of Liberty, which I love, by the way.
05:04And, you know, shout out Ellis Island as well.
05:05But we thought that we could run it and get it there, and so we did that.
05:09Coach, Coach, the Marine Tribune.
05:14I'm surprised you're talking to me.
05:15How angry are you right in this game?
05:18That's good.
05:19That's good.
05:21That's a five.
05:22That's a five.
05:23That's a five.
05:24That's a five.
05:25You know, when I clap back at somebody on IG, that's good.
05:29That was great.
05:31It went over everyone's head.
05:32That was so good.
05:36Hey, Willard, it didn't go over everybody's head.
05:38That was great.
05:39Trust me.
05:40That's true.
05:40As soon as it left, I'll say that's better.
05:44That was great.
05:46I miss you, Bonte.
05:48Oh, my God.
05:49That was great.
05:50Hey, somebody on IG a couple weeks ago said, you just make sure you don't piss off Trey Bonte.
05:56Dede and I are cool.
05:58We're good.
05:59I don't know if I call him Dede, but we're good.
06:01That was great.
06:02We shake hands and say what's up?
06:04Will, that was a good one.
06:05You're out there in the trenches, I mean.
06:07I don't even know what to say.
06:09You got to tip the cap.
06:10I got to take a playoff, man.
06:13Where were you from?
06:14The Tribune?
06:15Oh, my God.
06:17If you want to tip the Moran, what's the Moran paper?
06:19The IJ.
06:20The IJ.
06:21The Independent Journal.
06:22The Independent Journal.
06:23Oh, my God.
06:24Oh, my God.
06:26Guru, to your question, do you remember last week when you guys were doing who's the opposite
06:31of the coach of the year, and I texted you McVeigh, and you were like, why would you?
06:36Oh, you did say that.
06:37It's been awful.
06:38What's going on?
06:39He's costing his team multiple games this year.
06:43And the kicker, I kind of feel like he was a scapegoat.
06:46I get it, but his mistakes are, we're going to come here a day before, oh, just everything.
06:51He's using the same.
06:52It's on me.
06:53I can't do it.
06:54Yeah, but you said it.
06:55But I am shocked, Will.
06:57I mean, his name's not Sirianni.
06:59His name's not Quinn.
07:00But he's next.
07:02Why didn't you pass on that third and five, assuming the field goal with your special team
07:06problems?
07:07Just that they couldn't stop him.
07:08It was seven on seven both ways.
07:10What a weird thing, though, to just come into, and I mean, we all start laughing now when we
07:16watch him because, I don't know, I'm thinking my partner, anytime he has a press conference
07:20now, but it's like, why did you do that?
07:22What, like, great that you're pissed.
07:24That's great.
07:25I've never been so pissed.
07:28Why did you do that?
07:31This one is, this is the one, this stings, and it's going to hurt, but we can't afford
07:37to let it, we can't let this team beat us twice, and we're going to have to regroup and
07:40reset ourselves, and it's been a while since I've been this pissed after a game, too.
07:45I thought it was just a couple weeks ago you were that pissed.
07:48He's like a Muppet.
07:49He's like an oversized, really small, but muscly Muppet.
07:54This is the same press conference he had when they blew the game on Thursday night against
07:58the Niners last year.
07:59And I'm thinking, Bonte put it in my head real quick, they shit a lot, they didn't, Philly
08:03had them.
08:04Philly did have them.
08:04Philly, Bonte had a good tweet last night when someone was like, the Rams are this close
08:08to being 4-1.
08:09He's like, they're this close to being 1-4.
08:12Right.
08:12The guy said it was a tight ball, so I deleted it.
08:14I didn't want him to get dunked on like that.
08:16It was, the Rams, the Rams have, they have been nothing special this year at all.
08:21And defensively, what was that?
08:23Miles Garrett can't be that good.
08:26You've got McDuffie in your playing zone.
08:27One of the best men.
08:29Like, Shula might be on the hot seat.
08:30I mean.
08:31That was embarrassing.
08:32Honestly, Mike McDaniel came in to be the offensive whisperer and to try to get this offense going.
08:37And, of course, they looked good last night because, as my partner says, Buffalo cannot
08:41defend.
08:42Buffalo's defense is awful, but we were talking about it on the air and even off, and I was
08:47like, you know, I think that Buffalo can score with anybody.
08:49They can score on anybody, and the Ram defense is a little bit of a paper tiger.
08:54Aaron Donald, anybody notice him yet?
08:56No.
08:56He recovered the fumble that I thought gave the Rams the win.
09:00I was like, man.
09:01Yeah.
09:02He's in the right spot, right time.
09:04Did the post-game puncher, do we know if he is going to get suspended?
09:07Yes, he got suspended.
09:08Oh, yeah, two games.
09:08Two games.
09:09Yeah, two games.
09:09Okay, wow.
09:10What happened?
09:11Why did he go after Chubb?
09:12Did something happen?
09:13I don't know.
09:13No idea what he said.
09:14But that was two games.
09:15No helmet, and that was I'm going to hit you.
09:17I think Chubb was offering his opinion of the proceedings, and you could see that Chubb
09:21was like, yes, you know.
09:21He said something.
09:22He doubled back.
09:23He said a lot of things, and, you know, he said something that made the guy come over
09:27and like, you know, I want to dot you, and he hits Chubb, and I don't know, I've
09:31never been hit by a 265-pound professional athlete, but these guys take it like
09:36it's nothing.
09:36Well, Richard Sherman took one from Tripp Williams after the playoff game in Washington.
09:41It's one of the hardest, Draymond right behind it, hits I've ever seen.
09:45He got Sherman.
09:46He was talking to me.
09:48I was like, oh, my Richard, that hurt.
09:51I don't know why players try Trent.
09:52You see it on Sunday with Seattle.
09:53They had the montage of all the chippiness, and Trent just said something like, I'm like,
09:58why are you guys trying Trent?
10:00We see them in the wild card game against Philly, last year against Seattle.
10:04Leave big Trent alone.
10:05Yeah.
10:05He's about that life.
10:06Trent's one-on-one.
10:08Like, Trent's the one that walks into the most aggressive type A room, and they're like,
10:13never mind.
10:14That's it.
10:14Like, you know.
10:15Yep.
10:16All rise.
10:17Here comes Trent Williams.
10:19That's it.
10:19He can drink the Goat Fuel and say he drunk.
10:26I don't know if you guys saw the pressures allowed by the offensive line.
10:36Brock Purdy, your guy, Mr. President, president of Brockistan.
10:39I do love Brockistan.
10:40He actually got touched by the other team.
10:42He got sacked.
10:42But Trent Williams with zero pressures allowed yet again, and he is, what, 37 or 40?
10:50Who even knows how old?
10:52Like, my God.
10:53Think about the conversations we were having in the offseason.
10:56Right after the draft, after the offseason, and when Trent held out for more money.
11:01And I remember joining the morning, guys, I said, what are you going to do?
11:03Start a rookie of left tackle?
11:05You do whatever Trent says at this point.
11:06You kind of have no leverage in this situation.
11:09And I know it gets a little annoying that he does it year after year after year, but what
11:13are you going to do?
11:13He's one of the best left tackles in all of football.
11:16I'm not going to say in history, because you've got some greats like Anthony Munoz and Orlando
11:20Pace and Jonathan Ogden, but he's in that category.
11:22He's in there.
11:23No doubt about it.
11:24But think about now.
11:25Like, think about if the 49ers did let him walk and decided, you know what?
11:29We're going to wash our hands and go with a rookie left tackle.
11:31He's worth it.
11:32That's, I mean, the thing, like, whether it annoys you or not, and whether it's just
11:36about leverage, it's like, no, he's still playing at that level at age 38, so he's
11:42worth it.
11:43There's no reason for the 49ers to mess around with this.
11:46This is a left tackle.
11:47Left tackle is a premium position.
11:50You pay for that in this league, and he's still one of the three best probably in the
11:54entire league.
11:55That's real.
11:56He has every right to, the way that this league is structured in terms of finances,
12:02when you're out of guaranteed money and you're still playing like that, you have every
12:05right to ask for more.
12:07Yep.
12:08And it's just a shame that he'll never make the Hall of Fame because he'll never retire.
12:14Seriously, like, Trent Williams, 73 years old.
12:17I was waiting for the punchline.
12:18Well, I mean, and it's, obviously, it's a cheap punchline, but I guess at some point
12:22he will hang him up.
12:23But most people at his age, you've already hung it up at that spot where you have to
12:28be strong, nubile, physical, able to move, especially in this offense.
12:32And he looks the same as he did when he arrived.
12:35Bonte was pressing me all day, Goo.
12:36I know it's early, but if you needed to add to a position and you had to pick one, which
12:41way would you two go?
12:42I'm super interested in this conversation.
12:44I was locked into you guys a lot today, and we're going to continue it because I am definitely
12:52right now more focused on the defensive line than I am.
12:56Wide receiver is interesting to me.
12:58I understand why everybody wants to do this.
13:00I just want to know, how does it play out?
13:03Because you've got guys coming back, Will.
13:04So what draft pick are you giving up, and who's coming in, and then what are you doing
13:10with them in four weeks, let alone next year?
13:13Those of you who want the, you know, I don't need, what's Jerry Judy's contract?
13:18Is he in his final year?
13:19I'll look it up.
13:19I'll look it up.
13:20Like, Brian Thomas, this is not a, that's not a rental.
13:23And they're not saying night-night to him, I don't believe.
13:25You've got a rental, and so you have, you've got Stribling, you have, like, so if you think
13:31about the future, Pearsall, if you want to think beyond this year, but even this year,
13:37the Niners played twice in the next 25 days.
13:40That's it.
13:41They're 5-0, and they have two games in the next three and a half weeks.
13:45That's it.
13:46And after that, Robinson's back.
13:49Yep.
13:49Is Debo back?
13:50Like, Stribling is a minute from being back.
13:53Kirk.
13:53And who knows, maybe Kirk, and then, and Evans, and then you've got your young guys who,
13:59Watkins, cowing is needed to be active because he returns close.
14:03Brandon Cook, what am I doing with this person that I bring in, and what am I giving up for
14:08him so that I can play the Commanders and the Falcons?
14:11Like, don't blink that quick.
14:14Well, Jerry Judy, $10.3 million cap hit this season, and it looks like there's a potential
14:18out this offseason before the 2027 season, potential out a three-year, $48 million deal
14:25with a $25.4 million dead cap hit.
14:28So, you have some control there.
14:29There's a potential out where it may not burn you too much.
14:32The Brian Thomas Jr., the only thing that's interesting about that was that he was being
14:36compared to Brandon Ayuk before the draft, and we know the Niners, at one point in time,
14:40love Brandon Ayuk.
14:41Not so much now, of course, but I wonder why Jacksonville's not utilizing him the way that
14:46he should be utilizing.
14:47But what about Juwan Jennings?
14:48We had a great caller, Phillip in SoCal.
14:50We thought about last year how the Niners couldn't separate on the outside, Juwan Jennings
14:54being one of those wide receivers.
14:56Two catches, nine yards.
14:57But, Dibs, it looks like he could be had for cheap.
15:00He could be had for cheap, but I don't think that he is the person you would want to actually
15:04bring in because you already kind of have that with Mike Evans, and Juwan is somebody
15:09who doesn't run that fast.
15:10He doesn't separate.
15:11And I did a whole thing yesterday on Bill Barnwell.
15:14He wrote an article about the wide receivers who don't run the fastest and also don't
15:19have separation.
15:20And he's on the list, and so is Mike Evans.
15:23Yep.
15:23And you watch Mike Evans, and he doesn't separate, but it doesn't matter because you
15:27throw it near him.
15:28That is wow.
15:28And he's a grown man you.
15:29He's going to get that.
15:31He's like Yaxle in rebounds in the NBA.
15:33I mean, corners are too lazy.
15:35Were there other stud receivers on that list?
15:37No, there were two studs.
15:38One of them was A.J. Brown, and then Mike Evans, and then there were a bunch of, like,
15:42Juwan Jennings, who was great here.
15:44But think about all his catches.
15:45It's usually, I'm barely open.
15:47I got you.
15:48You put it on him, and he gets hit by 17 people.
15:51Real quick, Willard, you're listening to 95.
15:53So over the gate, KGMT, FM, and AC1, San Francisco, and Odyssey Sports Station, and home
15:57of the GoToState Warriors and Valkyries.
15:59Always live on the Free The Odyssey app.
16:00Coming to you live from the Laughing Monk studio.
16:02I do wonder, and this would be a good question for Cosell tomorrow, because Jennings last
16:07year, what he was being asked to do on a team that was just devoid of wide receiver, you're
16:13being asked to be on the outside, play in the Boundary X.
16:16You're not a Boundary X.
16:18Mike Evans is a Boundary X.
16:20If Jennings were to come back now and play big slot, that's a different role, and I think
16:26one that he can be effective in.
16:27And so, I'm not closed off to it, especially because he would only cost you a song right
16:32now.
16:32So that's no big deal.
16:34Do you think his time's up?
16:35Like, they're 5-0.
16:36Well, my question on Juwan is, what was going on in terms of the personality conflict last
16:42year?
16:43I know everybody...
16:44Oh, right.
16:44How did it end?
16:45Cool Heads won out, and he played, but that was a rough August with him, and then they let
16:52him go.
16:52And so, I don't know where that relationship stands.
16:55That's interesting.
16:55Yeah, he held in, for sure.
16:57For sure he did.
16:58That was a held in, trying to get more money or whatnot, and I know that rubbed people the
17:03wrong way in that 49ers organization, and then you look at the way the season ended, where
17:07it was more Demarcus Robinson in that playoff game against Philadelphia.
17:10And it was a long free agency for Juwan, so, like, the Niners didn't want him, and then
17:15nobody wanted him.
17:17And John Lynch was asked, right, even when some free agency's lagging, they're like, you
17:21know, Juwan's still out there, and John's like, we're good.
17:23Oh, man.
17:24Yeah.
17:24We're all set here.
17:25We're all good over here.
17:26By the way, Pablo Torre, who we know about Pablo Torre, says, NBA owners have contacted
17:32him about LeBron James flying in a Fanatics helicopter, and he is looking into it as LeBron
17:38flies from Philadelphia to New York in a Fanatics helicopter.
17:43How far is that trip?
17:44I don't know if you guys-
17:45New York to Philly?
17:46Stoddy would know.
17:47It's probably about a three-hour drive, maybe two.
17:50No, no, in the helicopter.
17:51Oh, I would say probably half an hour, tops.
17:54Can I ask a stupid question?
17:56Why is that?
17:58So what?
17:59Fanatics helicopter.
18:00Like, what rules are being broken?
18:02They're probably ticked off because LeBron James is playing for the cheap, for the low,
18:06in Philadelphia.
18:07And owners are like, hey, is this legal?
18:09I got it.
18:10I got it.
18:10So what do we have here?
18:12What's our thing?
18:14I'm guessing that's what it is.
18:16The sisters get fanatics to pay LeBron.
18:19Right.
18:20I don't know.
18:21Relax, man.
18:22But Pablo Torre's just saw it real quick before we get to pause.
18:24Pablo's got to get done with Kelly Clarkson first.
18:26He's got to get done with that whole story.
18:29Helicopter ride takes 40 to 45 minutes each week.
18:31Yeah.
18:32Oh, yeah.
18:33Yeah, yeah.
18:33Have you been in a helicopter?
18:35Once, and it was scary.
18:37Where?
18:37Okay.
18:38In Hawaii, in Maui.
18:39Oh, I see you put in the video.
18:41You did a coastal tour thing?
18:42Yeah, it was tripping.
18:44It dipped down over about us.
18:45Oh, it was a little scary.
18:47Anybody puke?
18:48Nobody puked.
18:49Okay, good.
18:50It was fun.
18:50Like, you're looking around, but I'm one and done.
18:53You were in one every day, right?
18:54For a year, yeah.
18:55Damn, you're lucky to be here.
18:57Chopper Dan.
18:57I mean.
18:58Lucky to be here.
18:59I just.
18:59Chopper Dan, you were the Chopper?
19:00Chopper Dan for Kron.
19:01Yes.
19:02Right.
19:02I forgot about that.
19:04Before I got touched by Tony Salvador over at the old station,
19:07before he rescued me, I was doing 6 to 8 a.m.
19:11and then like 3 to 5 p.m.
19:13Let's go live to Chopper Dan.
19:15He's over 680.
19:16That's where he worked on the McVeigh voice.
19:18It works really well with it.
19:19And no nervousness or thinking about crashing, nothing.
19:21Yes, nervousness.
19:22And actually, you have a different pilot almost every day.
19:25They rotate.
19:26And one of my favorites and also my least favorite was a guy who was in Vietnam.
19:31And so we're flying over Oakland one day and we were over the estuary.
19:36He's like, let me show you what it was like.
19:39So we go from like flying flat to pitches into like 28 degrees.
19:43And now we're at 500 feet and he's going.
19:47And we are like, you know, left and right and left and right.
19:50And I'm like, oh, this is so funny.
19:52And inside, I'm like white knuckling and I'm like, you know, doing the rosary and the whole thing.
19:57And the really scary one, though, is when you're up and then you hit like a pocket of air and
20:02you drop about 50 feet.
20:04Because in a plane, whatever, I did traffic in one of those Cessnas.
20:08And if the engine fails, you have wings.
20:10You can glide, glide, glide.
20:12Let's find a field.
20:13Let's find somewhere.
20:14Let's land.
20:15Helicopter, if the engine dies, you're a rock.
20:20Yeah, no, Corey Lytle, on Twitter, Corey Lytle, the Yankees, audio came out of him, called a Mad Dog Russo
20:28show.
20:29Francesca, the Mad Dog, he just called in one day.
20:31And three days later, he had died in that helicopter in New York City.
20:35So, yeah, I'm good on helicopters.
20:37Bill Graham, the legendary promoter.
20:40I think he's Kobe Bryant.
20:41Yeah, exactly.
20:42Yeah.
20:43And Kobe was kind of doing a LeBron thing from whatever he was in, like, not Santa Monica, but probably.
20:48No, they were flying.
20:49They were flying to his daughter's basketball practice.
20:52Calabasas.
20:53Yeah.
20:53Yeah, and there were visibility issues.
20:55They shouldn't have been out there.
20:56Last thing.
20:57Did you know your last trip in the air was your last trip or no?
21:00No.
21:01Something changed on the job and that was it.
21:02Yeah, it changed because, you know, all of a sudden the program director at the other station was no longer
21:07the program director.
21:09And Tony Salvador, who I absolutely love.
21:12I know.
21:13I do, too.
21:13Yeah.
21:14I need you to come in.
21:15We're going to have a meeting.
21:16Dude, he's mafia.
21:17I've never met him.
21:18Oh, you've never met him?
21:20Never met him in person.
21:21The best.
21:22I've gotten messages passed along from him and his voice and everything about it.
21:26Some people blame him for being fired at that station back in the day for saying some things about the
21:31Giants.
21:31Won't go there.
21:32But this guy's like, he's a godfather.
21:36There's a documentary that can be made over that entire era when, you know, jobs were changed.
21:42Jobs were lost.
21:43And, yeah.
21:43Can I tell you stuff went down because you can't have a documentary when it's all good.
21:47No, no, no.
21:48There's so many, like.
21:49Stuff has to go down.
21:50You got to have stuff went down.
21:51You got to have stuff went down.
21:52It can't just be like, oh, yeah, this guy had a job and he worked 40 years and he got
21:57to go watch.
21:57Yeah, it's a pretty.
21:59It's a tune out.
22:00It's anyway.
22:02Anyway, put it in Pachimski.
22:04Yeah, pods.
22:05Pods.
22:06Oh, whoa.
22:06Look at the phones.
22:08Wow.
22:09What do you make of Pritchard's deal?
22:10He got about what?
22:1122 for 44.
22:12Two for 44.
22:14I mean, he's a good player.
22:15That's all I said.
22:16He's a good player.
22:17Why do you think Warrior fans are in on pods?
22:20I know we've done this.
22:21In or out?
22:22I mean, what'd you guys.
22:24You know, we didn't do it yesterday.
22:25I just, again, like my mind, my media mind goes to a weird place.
22:30Yeah, mine is they.
22:31Why did this break on a Saturday morning when the Niners were about to play the Seahawks?
22:35Huh?
22:36Hmm.
22:37Now, what if I respond to the question?
22:40That's when they got it done.
22:41And you might be right.
22:42I don't think the Warriors are like scared of anything.
22:44Because Draymond's came out on a Saturday, you know, back in the day.
22:48As did Steve's.
22:49Okay.
22:50Yeah.
22:51They like doing things on a weekend.
22:52Yep.
22:54Interesting.
22:54But that thing about Stiney saying, and he didn't say it verbatim, hey, are they going
22:58to be a little skeptical giving them money because of the, you know, if they didn't care
23:02about that and they shouldn't have.
23:03I know I wouldn't have.
23:05But I think the Warriors, the Warriors swagger in any room.
23:07So I don't, I don't think it's like a big deal or anything, but they know this.
23:13They're, they're, they're smart.
23:14If they broke this tomorrow afternoon, it would have gotten a lot more kind of run and whatnot.
23:20And I do think it's interesting to fans.
23:22And I think that there's a very, you know, there's an obvious and fair debate about the
23:26whole thing.
23:27But, um, look, they, I was there Saturday when Steve spoke on it for the first time.
23:33I saw you and one week, you and Chris, you had a class there.
23:37I was like, do you want to tell the other part of the story?
23:40How, how, uh, you were kind of like going through your weekend and totally, this was,
23:45this is actually, I'm, I'm glad you brought this up.
23:49I go golfing Saturday morning.
23:51Like it's my only day off of the whole week.
23:54So we're like, right.
23:55We're dialing out and then we go golfing and then fire home, take a shower, spend some time
24:00with my son, get him some lunch.
24:02This has been a no phone day.
24:04Then get changed.
24:06Go get Christie fire into the city fleet.
24:09Weak traffic.
24:11Welcome to my life.
24:13Yeah.
24:13I know way down to chase center.
24:15Got to beat all the students there.
24:16There's 10 of them coming, get them into the building, get their credentials, get everybody
24:20going.
24:21Now we're poof.
24:22We're in our seats.
24:23Here comes Steve Kerr and slates starts the questioning and goes, so Steve, I guess the,
24:30the obvious first question would be your reaction to the Brandon Pajemski extension.
24:36And I went, I'm in the room.
24:44So you're like, what are the numbers?
24:46He's trying to teach 10 students about being on top of stuff.
24:49Students are right behind me.
24:50I'm like, we're Shams.
24:51We're Shams.
24:52Wait, what is it?
24:54Steve's already answering the question.
24:55I don't even know what the deal is.
24:57Oh my God.
24:58That's incredible.
24:59Yeah.
24:59So sitting in the room, I had no idea.
25:01I thought we were just going to be like, so, you know, what's the plan tonight for staff?
25:04And then you're like, yeah.
25:06So pretty funny.
25:06Five, five years, buck ten.
25:08I was like, six, wait.
25:10Right.
25:11He missed seven hours of vitriol about pods on Twitter.
25:14Dude, no doubt.
25:14No doubt.
25:15That's so damn.
25:16Grady was getting heat.
25:17I was getting heat, Chaski.
25:19I was getting heat.
25:20You were getting heat.
25:21We're called bootlickers.
25:22Yeah.
25:22You know, stands for the franchise.
25:24I was coughing and then shouting.
25:26Wow.
25:26What a life.
25:27I knew none of it.
25:28So anyway.
25:29That's wild.
25:30It wasn't until I checked my Twitter that somebody had come in and said, you know, Steve Kerr,
25:35he's a white guy.
25:36And I'm like, wait, what happened?
25:38I'm just trying to go about the same thing.
25:40My weekend.
25:41Like, I try to dial out to an extent.
25:43So I'm like, all of a sudden my mentions are like, Steve Kerr is this and Kerr is that.
25:47I'm like, what happened?
25:49It's the preseason.
25:50It's the preseason.
25:52Man.
25:52I mean, Steve said the same thing he always says.
25:57The analytics of all their lineups love him.
26:0082 games.
26:01It's not a back-breaking number.
26:03I think it might be 2 million more than I thought he was going to.
26:07And if you wanted to move it, nobody's going there.
26:10I mean, with this organization right now, what's it worth to you, a guy that you know is going
26:15to play?
26:15Right.
26:16Just that.
26:17Forget what he does.
26:18Just play.
26:20You know, like, what's that worth to you right now?
26:22And next year, that contract becomes Jordan Poole-able, which means it's movable.
26:28And so, you know, this year it's not because he's only making what he was making on his
26:32rookie deal.
26:32You don't know Jordan Poole?
26:34I don't.
26:35I don't.
26:36And Jordan Poole was a good player, but his contract was so movable that he got moved
26:41and he's been moved again and again and again.
26:44I mean, he's in NBA Siberia.
26:46You're talking about going from the Wizards to the Pelicans.
26:48He might as well not even play in the NBA.
26:50You might as well go to China.
26:51Did you hear Pod say after the game, he wants to be here for his entire career?
26:57I thought that was interesting because we had questions about what he is.
27:00Well, he's on the right track.
27:01How about that?
27:02But what's his experience been with the fan base?
27:04Also, Willard, you know, a player's not going to say that.
27:07Of course.
27:07No, but this is after the deal.
27:09But he does.
27:09I saw him in Hawaii.
27:11You guys, we'll talk more about Pods in the upcoming days.
27:14I got a preseason game tonight on NBA TV, 7 p.m. against the L.A. Lakers in Vegas.
27:18But he's got a good mind.
27:19That's a boop.
27:21Yeah, so you're working tonight.
27:23No, I'm not working.
27:23Oh, okay.
27:24I thought you were saying you were working.
27:25We tried to catch up Saturday.
27:26Willard was texting.
27:27I was like, dog, we're out.
27:29I'm at the crib, homie.
27:31You've got to talk to the students.
27:32You've got to talk to the students.
27:34For cocktail game on a Saturday?
27:35I'm at home waking up my newborn right now.
27:38I mean, I woke up.
27:38My daughter was in my arms.
27:40I saw all these Twitter alerts in Shasky.
27:42First thing I'll pop up on Instagram is Shasky's video.
27:45Talk about Brandon Puczynski.
27:46Oh, anybody else have that feeling when you open up Instagram
27:50and you get Shasky's face?
27:52And he's, my goodness.
27:54I mean, his videos are entertaining.
27:57I'll put it that way.
27:58But after the games, you know they're coming, so you're prepared.
28:01You know how James Harden does that?
28:03That's how I do it.
28:04Let me tell you.
28:05Something happened.
28:05You know how Harden does that snapback?
28:07That's kind of what my head does.
28:08When you open up Instagram, you're like, oh, no, man.
28:11He had a video that he forgot to put the sound on,
28:13and I could still hear him yelling.
28:14Oh, my God.
28:15Dude, that's incredible.
28:16I was like, yo, he's still yelling at me.
28:18Anyway, guys, have a good show.
28:20All right, boys.
