00:00morning pop douglas good morning that that reminds me if you weren't playing in the national football
00:07league what would you guess your occupation would be pop douglas i don't know honestly
00:17huh i don't know what my occupation would be well i mean uh were you thinking around sports
00:23something around sports okay all right caution or soda uh or yes or you could be you're in there
00:30are you still are you still in the soda biz yeah i'm still in the soda business okay all right
00:37well
00:37listen um post game you said that uh essentially you needed to uh stop trying to do so much i
00:47forget
00:47how you phrased it but um we talked a little bit about that with uh coach rabel when he was
00:53on the
00:53show monday what did you mean by that what'd you mean by that uh just doing too much you know
00:59i i know
01:00uh it's people that you know chasing after the ball after like two after i really want to move you
01:08know
01:08i gotta go you know so that's why i say doing too much yeah pop when you're in those situations
01:13i know
01:14and that's got to be the hardest thing you know when you're trying to make a play but i also
01:19understand like the boys are coming you know what i mean like the they're coming from behind you but
01:25you're trying to make a play so how do you handle that moving forward like you said mentally understanding
01:31like all right excuse me i want to make plays but also i got to know that all right the
01:36cavalry's coming
01:36on the other side of the football and they're and nowadays they're looking to punch it out any chance
01:41they get honestly yeah get what i can get you know uh and when the journey over get down you
01:47know i feel like that's what uh bill had taught me when journey over get down so you know when
01:52i feel
01:53like i can't and i'm going side to side and not going vertical that's why i just need to get
01:57down
01:57and you know uh go to the next play because it was a big game you know big game and
02:02i i ain't gonna
02:02lie i wanted the end zone so bad but it's that's what got me in trouble pop but we can
02:09talk about
02:09you trying to make plays but you have been making plays 11 catches 151 yards three touchdowns in two
02:14games like you you've talked about how it's preparation that have led you to be able to
02:19play that well but what exactly about that preparation is working uh you know getting that
02:24timing with drake you know i feel like that's this has been good you know uh td been you know
02:30harping man get that get that time with drake so you know he's feel comfortable with throwing that
02:35route to any route to you so you know i feel like i've been on that and then practice you
02:40know uh
02:40yeah open so you know uh it's a good look for 10 you know so he'd be like okay i
02:46know i can hit that
02:47you know if i don't go to this guy or go to there so um i think i've been really
02:52you know uh really
02:53practicing hard honestly from your perspective what has been the difference when it comes to drake may
03:01the past three weeks um honestly i i couldn't tell you from like you know his perspective because i
03:11i know i just know he's been working from my perspective i've just been seeing them you know
03:15working grind you know and uh i feel like these like couple last weeks you know he's been working
03:21very hard pop i and i love this i know they bust my chops about this but take us on
03:28that practice
03:29field on how you because people want to know right like people who never played the game don't
03:36understand on how you build a relationship with a quarterback the ball he threw to you on i think
03:41it was a third down play on the sideline where you're able to get two feet in bounds which i
03:45thought was
03:45an unbelievable way to manipulate the sideline with your feet but you know let people see how you build
03:52that relationship with the quarterback in practice is it are you out there before practice you and him
03:57staying after practice like take us into that world a little bit so for people who've never played
04:02you talk about building that relationship how you and drake have been able to build this relationship
04:09uh i feel like you know uh during some special team periods when we got like uh say punt and
04:16i'm not
04:16on point i'll you know go throw some routes with drake that you know i i could get i could
04:21possibly get
04:22you know in the game so i feel like that that helps our timing you know and uh going to
04:27you know
04:27going into the film room and seeing watching the defense with him you know i feel like that helps
04:33a lot too so we are we all on the same page with whatever route i run you know and
04:38we'd be on the
04:39same page with that i feel like that that really helps i just heard from rex ryan he would like
04:43more
04:43talk about manipulating feet oh god curtis go ahead uh pop uh rough return for aj brown what have you
04:54seen from him this week and what do you expect from him tomorrow night i you know he's been working
04:59man you know um it's really you know he is he's getting back into the mold you know we are
05:05we are
05:06week six you know for him is really we want for him you know so he's getting back into that
05:10role
05:10more i know what he could do our team know he's capable of he's getting back into that moment he
05:15working honestly i ain't gonna lie he is working right now i'm proud to see what he's gonna do
05:19you know tomorrow i know he's gonna come with it so you know uh just know he got a team
05:24behind him
05:24that's gonna play play i gotta watch what i say that team behind him that
05:31that got his back listen we have the uh you may not know this but we have the tie law
05:37swear jar in
05:38here so you can say what you want you just have to pay a hundred dollar fine i guess i
05:42gotta pay
05:43the fine yeah you gotta pay the fine we'll take it in soda to be honest with you uh if
05:48you uh if you
05:49could take us inside the uh soda production line that would be that would really be that would really
05:56be appreciated pop curtis brings up aj coming back but you guys are down a lot of guys even after
06:03last
06:04week more guys went down what's been the message in the locker room and how do you feel like those
06:08who maybe wouldn't have seen the field have been performing uh thanks for us been like opportunity
06:15there were opportunity and serve you know uh definitely had a lot of injuries uh you know i pray
06:21for all those guys who've been injured you know uh but the guys that came up you know i've been
06:27preaching opportunity i mean the team been preaching opportunity and uh you know you gotta have that next
06:33man mentality you know kovari been doing a good job of uh having everybody prepare as a starter so
06:39when it when the time comes they know what to do so you know he asks questions and uh on
06:44team room he
06:45asks a question and he asks somebody that that may not be thinking they plan and uh you know they
06:51get
06:51it right so you know that that helps them you know i feel like uh very been doing a good
06:55job of
06:56having everybody stay ahead so they'll have to get ready time comes the the gold standard of uh
07:02slot receivers in patriots history for my money is troy brown uh and he was on the patriots post
07:09game show talking about the injuries you guys have sustained at home in the field turf at gillette
07:14have you guys had any issues with it that you've realized is it different than other teams and would
07:20you rather play on grass yeah uh uh turf uh i don't think it's that bad but i definitely like
07:28grass
07:29you know i'm a florida guy we have a lot of grass we really cut on grass honestly
07:34wiggy also likes a lot of grass
07:38hey it's from the earth man put hair for you and me
07:49um milton williams said after that game that sometimes speaking of words that we can't use
07:55in the public airwaves that mike rabel can sometimes can sometimes be an a-hole and that's
08:01what he likes about him would you agree with that assessment
08:05about milton yeah well no he was talking about coach
08:09oh right
08:13oh uh yeah but i yeah that's definitely what we need though i mean he gonna yell at us
08:18uh a player like yeah i mean he gonna yell at a coach like he yell at a player
08:22so i'll be like oh yeah you hear me that's that's what i like to see you know keep everybody
08:27accountable no matter who you are so you know that's a yeah that's a that's a good coach right
08:32but i can't lie you yell at a coach just like he yell at a player yeah okay pop talking
08:38about
08:38aj brown a little bit the one thing that i've kind of watched him throughout his career he looked
08:42like he's got real strong hands in his ability to catch the football and i know my boy ty former
08:46teammate brought up the visor thing and i'd love to ask him i don't get receivers who wear visors
08:51i never wore one and especially tinted ones is there any way maybe you could be you could be
08:56like hey man maybe you go to declare visor or no visor i don't get it can you like let
09:02me know why
09:02do guys wear the visors if you like know some of your your teammates that that wear those tinted
09:08visors because i feel like maybe the ball is gonna be hard to see no uh it depends honestly i
09:15wear so i
09:15wear a tinted visor in practice and uh i mean the visor helps with some a lot of stuff you
09:22know
09:22when you hit the ground a lot of dirt or turf come up getting your eyes or just a release
09:28and you know
09:28the db kind of shoot wrong and it'll poke you in your eye so i feel like you know the
09:33visor helps also
09:34but like when it's sunny though i i can't lie to uh that that tinted visor helps a lot it
09:42helps a lot
09:43it takes the sun down to where you know it feels like it's a great day outside it's not as
09:49bright
09:49right so that tinted visor really does help i wish we could wear that but you know we can't so
09:56i mean
09:57it's all good all right it is all good and pop it's always great having you on you're always very
10:02you're always very joyful you bring a lot of joy to our mornings and go get them tomorrow night all
10:07right pop douglas uh appreciate that all right there he is man is always very happy
