00:00Well, as we go through our Friday, we're going to continue watching for the Santa Ana winds anywhere from 40
00:04to 90 mile per hour gusts do a couple things.
00:08We're talking about the potential for some power shot offs.
00:10We're talking about certainly Halloween decorations being blown around at the very least, if not some minor damage because of
00:17stronger wind gusts, but also the fire danger.
00:19Now, obviously, this extends further north compared to where our Santa Ana winds are.
00:23But if we focus in around L.A., that's where the high fire danger exists.
00:28We do just have some issues a little further north in California as well.
00:32Now, this goes through Saturday, so it goes a little bit beyond our timeline for the strongest Santa Ana wind
00:37gusts.
00:37As we look at our temperatures for Friday, well, we've been heating up as well.
00:4298 in L.A., the hottest day that we've seen so far this week.
00:45So that's part of the problem.
00:46That combination with the Santa Ana winds creates that elevated fire risk.
00:52Plus, of course, heat related illness, things like that are going to be a problem as well.
00:55Now, this is not as bad as heat waves we've had in recent months, but still much hotter than we
01:01typically would be for mid-October.
01:03We're in the 80s, though, in Vegas and chillier in the 60s, even 50s, as we get towards Colorado and
01:10New Mexico.
01:11So we look ahead to next week.
01:12It's a very different situation, a change in the pattern.
01:15We see the return of some of that tropical moisture.
01:17We're going to see rainfall and snow up into the Sierra.
01:21So good news for the ski resorts there, but we could see some flash flooding in places like San Diego,
01:27L.A., and far beyond that as well.
01:29Just kind of the contrast for Southern California there is a big part of the story.
01:33So we go to L.A. over the next seven days.
01:35We finally get out of the 90s by the time we get to Monday.
01:38So that's something to look forward to.
01:39Then we drop to the 70s by Tuesday, low 70s by Wednesday.
01:43That's much closer to where we should be this time of year.
01:46So if you are just hating the heat that we're seeing right now, just know there's an end in sight.
