00:00We have much needed rain on the way, but it's a short-term fix, not a long-term actual solution.
00:06So maybe more like a band-aid than a fix, but you get the point.
00:09Here's our footprint, everybody that gets the rain, but let's dive into some more of the details here.
00:14So we're going to focus in on the south because first, Texas, you really get hit hard Friday with the
00:19widespread heavy rain.
00:20Now, you have drought too. I'll show you the map here in a minute.
00:23But this is one of the areas we are most likely to see some flooding.
00:28We're not talking about a widespread, you know, river creek flooding situation.
00:31It's more localized flash flooding, but you still want to be watching out for the flood alerts.
00:36You want multiple ways to get watches and warnings, and you want to be on the lookout for any of
00:39those flooded roadways
00:40because you know the drill not to drive or walk through them.
00:44All right, so playing this out, we get a couple rounds into Texas, all of the reds, the yellows, the
00:48oranges,
00:49and we do have some severe weather.
00:50You're going to notice here we start to get some of these squall lines developing.
00:54That's where we start to get some of the gusty winds, the hail, and even an isolated tornado or two.
00:58But over the next couple of days, heavy rainfall and flooding is certainly the bigger story.
01:02So overnight into Saturday, we get out of Texas.
01:05We start to shift much more into the southeast.
01:07And notice where we don't have the rain at first, the exact areas that need it because of the wildfires.
01:14But this is Saturday, 10 a.m.
01:15Watch what happens as I continue to play this out.
01:18We do get some rain moving into this area.
01:20It's just not the most widespread heavy rainfall that goes a little further to the north.
01:25So into Sunday, things linger down into Florida as tends to happen.
01:29So by Sunday, south Florida is the focus for any gusty thunderstorms.
01:32Here's your map.
01:33How much rain do we get?
01:35The light green one to two.
01:37And really, especially south Georgia into Florida where we don't necessarily have the shading.
01:42We're talking half an inch to an inch.
01:44So we'll take it.
01:44It's going to help firefighters out in the short term.
01:47But, again, it's not going to fix our problem.
01:49Now, in the darker green, the two to four, that's where we could get up to even 10 inches of
01:53rain.

01:55So that's where the flooding is most likely.
01:57Now, this lines up with the area that I circled and said this is where we need the rain the
02:02most.
02:02It's because you are in the exceptional drought.
02:04This is the latest drought monitor released today.
02:07We did expand that exceptional drought a little bit, even more.
02:10But you can see the entire region really under some sort of drought level.
02:15When it comes to the severe weather, here's what we're dealing with Friday.
02:18It's a low-end threat, but still something to be aware of.
