00:00Some news happened yesterday that I think the best way to describe it might be it has Browns followers saying,
00:10huh, what does that mean?
00:12And it was Shadour Sanders, Browns quarterback, currently Browns backup quarterback, hiring an agent yesterday.
00:19It doesn't matter who the agency is.
00:21It happens to be his former college teammate, Travis Hunter's agent.
00:25So there's obviously some kind of familiarity there.
00:28But Shadour hasn't had an agent.
00:31And, you know, would it have helped him draft day if he had an agent?
00:35Maybe, who knows?
00:36But he's hired an agent.
00:39Why in the world would a backup quarterback who hasn't had an agent hire an agent when he can't start
00:50negotiating a new contract until after the 2027 season?
00:55That is what has, I think, the red flag raised and everybody's curiosity peaked, Dan Mennegan.

01:28So why would he hire an agent, Dano?
01:31I don't think it's coincidental.
01:33I don't either.
01:34I don't think it's coincidental that he did it at this point.
01:37I don't think it's coincidental that it came out at this point as well.
01:41I don't either.
01:42I think we all know the reason.
01:45I think we witnessed it with Marvin Harrison when it came out that Marvin Harrison had hired a couple of
01:49agents when he was with the Arizona Cardinals.
01:51But there had already been talk about Marvin Harrison being traded and that it wasn't working in Arizona for Marvin
01:59or for the Cardinals.
02:00Right, but it seemed like the buttons got pushed a little bit more frequent the minute those agents were hired.
02:08Correct.
02:09All of a sudden, here we go.
02:12It had always been rumored and rumbled that it wasn't working correctly for Marvin Harrison Jr.
02:17And then all of a sudden, ooh, second-round picks started getting thrown about, third-round picks started getting thrown
02:22about.
02:23There was leaks all over the place to all of the different insiders and that stuff about the future of
02:29Marvin Harrison Jr. in Arizona.
02:31None of this stuff happens by accident.
02:35I said from the beginning that I would like Shador Sanders to be here.
02:38I would have had him as the starting quarterback.
02:39You and I both said that, yeah.
02:42Clearly, the Browns saw something differently.
02:45And clearly, or at least it seems to be from tea leaf reading, that Shador Sanders is looking at his
02:51situation and going,
02:53If I want to play quarterback in the NFL at some point soon, I'm going to need to do it
02:59somewhere else.
03:02At least that's what it looks like now that he's believing.
03:05As our buddy Charles Robinson said, he's opening up options.
03:08He's making sure he has options.
03:12That's what stood out to me.
03:16I think that's accurate.
03:18I wonder if he has hired an agent to try to facilitate a trade.
03:23Do you know what I mean?
03:24Where maybe they've had conversations with the Browns or maybe now that he has an agent, that agent will have
03:32conversations with the Browns and say,
03:35Hey, this isn't working for our guy, and he'd like to maybe see if there's something else out there, and
03:41maybe the Browns would say yes,
03:42or maybe the Browns went to Shador and said, Hey, if you want to try and find something else out
03:46there, fine.
03:47And that's where an agent would come into play, where an agent can call other organizations and find that out.
03:51The one issue here to me is this.
03:55Who thinks he's a commodity?
03:58Who thinks he's a commodity right now?
04:01Part two of what you said I thought was interesting.
04:03Oh, good.
04:03What about part one?
04:05Part one wasn't chopped liver.
04:06Well, part one is what I was thinking initially, and part two I thought was interesting because you said, Hey,
04:12if you want to go out and take a look for something, you can.
04:14Which the player himself wouldn't do.
04:17He'd have to hire an agent to do that.
04:19Right.
04:20And you hear of that happening.
04:22Hey, you want to trade?
04:23Go ahead.
04:23Try and find one for us.
04:24So if you're the Browns, why would you even come to him?
04:30And let's say this happens again.
04:31We're in hypothetical land just trying to figure out the reasons behind all of these things that are more than
04:35just, well, you hire an agent because you want someone to advocate for you.
04:39That's what agents do.
04:41If you're the Browns, there's no way I would go to him and say, try to seek out a trade.
04:46Because he's two things that the Browns need.
04:49Has potential and cheap.
04:52So why wouldn't you want a guy who has potential and is cheap to remain on your roster for as
04:58long as humanly possible?
05:00I would agree with that.
05:02The reason you might do that is because you're in a jam.
05:05You have Dylan Gabriel coming off the injured list here in about 14 days at the longest and you like
05:12tailing green and you don't want to carry four quarterbacks on your roster.
05:16Especially when you obviously aren't sold on one because you couldn't, he couldn't beat out a guy who hadn't played
05:21in two years and his contract is up at the end of the year.
05:25I get that.
05:26I understand it from that regard.
05:28I just, I feel like Shador Sanders has more ability than Dylan Gabriel does as much as this team.
05:36You know, he looked, both of them have looked good in preseason.
05:39I can't argue with that except for the fact that they gave Shador every opportunity to win this job and
05:46he didn't.
05:47One was in the quarterback competition and the other one was off to the side of the quarterback competition.
05:52So wouldn't you think the guy that was off to the side of the quarterback competition would have a lesser
05:57standing inside of the organization?
06:00I mean, I sit there the entire time and I mock everybody because of how much attention we're paying to
06:03reps and this guy's getting reps.
06:05Well, this guy's not getting reps, reps, reps, reps, reps, reps, reps, reps, reps, down the line from there and
06:09it makes my head hurt.
06:12So wouldn't you think if we're putting this much stock into the reps and who's getting them, then that one
06:19guy would have more standing than the other and you'd probably look to move the other guy who's currently coming
06:23off of IR?
06:23Unless you finally got a look at the other guy who you didn't include in the competition and you like
06:28him better.
06:29Well, then why in the hell wasn't he in the competition to begin with?
06:31You'd have to ask Todd Munkin.
06:33Get him on the phone.
06:33You'd have to ask him.
06:34If I'm him, I'm staying right here because frankly, the starting quarterback has been playing so just meh to sub
06:41meh.
06:42And a huge injury history.
06:43Yeah, I would stay right here.
06:46Let's be honest.
06:48The touchdown drive for Tampa, he played well.
06:51He did well for the first half of the Pittsburgh game.
06:55And late and late.
06:58Outside of that, Deshaun Watson has sputtered in this offense.
07:03It's been fine.
07:04It's been a lot of checkdowns.
07:06It's been a lot of, you know, we've made this work with what we've had.
07:11He's had a couple drives in the tail end.
07:12Shadur Sanders has a couple of those in his back pocket as well with this ball club and being able
07:16to get him into field goal range for one reason or another.
07:19If I'm him, I'm looking around and I'm looking at how Deshaun Watson is playing and I'm going, I could
07:25easily be the starter here by the mid, by bi-week.
07:28They could look around and just go, why?
07:32Why am I doing, why are we playing this game with Deshaun Watson where this offense is treading water when
07:36the sky is greener and there could be a higher ceiling with Shadur Sanders here?
07:41Outside of those, I have not been over the moon impressed with Deshaun Watson.
07:45I'll just flat out say it.
07:48He's been fine.
07:48You've not been impressed at all.
07:50He's been fine.
07:52The mobility has been really good.
07:54It's been nice to see the mobility.
07:55But his ability to look down the field, decipher what a defense is doing, and thread needle throws to get
08:01it done.
08:01He throws about two to three nice balls every single game.
08:04And outside of that, he misses open receivers left and right, and he puts it in a bad position every
08:09so often as well.
08:10Deshaun Watson has played quarterback like a backup quarterback in this league.
08:15I'm not going to say that he's done a great job because he hasn't.
08:19Right.
08:19But he's been competent.
08:20So if I'm Shadur, why am I looking at someone who's played D-plus quarterback and look around and go,
08:27maybe I need to not be here.
08:30Maybe because he's been given the indication that, hey, you know what?
08:34We like Dillon more than we like you.
08:36Or we like Talon more than we like you.
08:39Or we're definitely taking a quarterback next year.
08:42And he's going to try and get, if hiring an agent is to do this, to facilitate a move, he's
08:48going to try and get out of here and create some market value for himself before, you know, when his
08:54contract's up and he gets a chance to renegotiate a new deal.
08:57You know?
08:58Yeah.
08:59I mean, maybe it is just a premature move knowing of how poorly the draft process went.
09:05But it's just interesting because I don't think the timing is coincidental.
09:09But it's just a bit more
