00:00On the White's Heart, right, we make it right.
00:01Call Kyle Wright Hotline.
00:03What a great time to bring in Mary Kay Cabot.
00:05Are you getting swept up, Mary Kay, in the early baseball today?
00:09Are you going to be able to catch this ALCS?
00:11I know you'd be there if you weren't working.
00:15I would be there probably if I weren't working.
00:17And I'm sure we will have it on in the media room today.
00:20And we will all be following it very closely.
00:23Are you allowed to cheer in the Browns media room?
00:29You know what?
00:30I think because most of us don't cover baseball, we can put on our fan hats and actually cheer for
00:36the Guardians.
00:37I mean, I will cheer for the Guardians because I don't cover them.
00:40So I can do that.
00:41What about Shadell?
00:42I feel like Shadell, I mean, he's like a Red Sox guy, isn't he?
00:46So, I mean, he might be booing you.
00:48I don't know.
00:49He's a Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski fan.
00:52Well, he will be at the game.
00:54So we don't have to worry about him cheering at the media room today.
00:58He's a professional.
00:59Anyway, Mary Kay, thank you for joining us.
01:02Give us the latest on the injury situation because, man, how many running backs are down right now for the
01:08Browns?
01:10Too many.
01:11Well, Quinchon did not practice yesterday.
01:13And remember, that right ankle that he had the boot on the other night and that he tweaked is the
01:18surgically repaired right ankle, the dislocated ankle, and the fractured fibula.
01:23So that is of some concern.
01:25But when I saw him walking through the locker room yesterday, he did not have a boot on, and he
01:30didn't look to be limping or anything like that.
01:32So we'll see how it goes.
01:34A couple of days can change a lot in terms of healing.
01:37So that one we're keeping an eye on.
01:40And then Dylan Sampson was designated for return.
01:43He was outside yesterday and dressed to practice, but he actually didn't practice.
01:47So I don't know if he's going to be ready for Sunday.
01:50He would really love to be, but not sure how that's going to go.
01:55And then, of course, they signed Audrick Estime off the Vikings practice squad.
02:01So a little bit dicey in the run game this week.
02:03Mary Kay Cabot joining us here on the Wise Heart Right.
02:05We make it right.
02:06Call Kyle Right.
02:07Hotline.
02:07All right.
02:08Apparently, Lima's going to beat around the bush, and he wants me to ask the tough question, so I'm going
02:11to ask the tough question.
02:11Why did Shador go get an agent yesterday?
02:15Well, I think if you look back to the whole draft process, he did not have an agent.
02:19He did not have guidance in a professional manner in terms of being signed with an agency.
02:27And some people that I've talked to in the league think that hurt him in the process, just in some
02:32of his decisions about which visits he wanted to take or how he wanted to approach some of those interviews.
02:38And so I think this is just part of the process.
02:41As you go through your NFL career and you try to navigate your situation, it's probably a good idea for
02:47him to have some type of representation.
02:49And I know within the last six months, he's also hired a marketing agency, and you're seeing the fruits of
02:55that effort now with him ending up in Cosmopolitan and some different things like that.
03:00So I think he's just taking charge of his career in ways that he might not have really known as
03:08much about when he was just coming out of school.
03:10Well, there was a lot of speculation, Mary Kay, because of what we just saw.
03:15A high-profile player like Marvin Harrison Jr. acquired new representation about a month ago.
03:21And then next thing you know, it was put out there to the national guys that, yeah, looking for a
03:26trade.
03:26There's going to be a trade. It's just a matter of when, not if.
03:30And it happened.
03:31Well, yeah, you know, I don't know if that is the motive here or that is part of the agenda.
03:37I don't have any idea. We haven't really talked to Shador very much.
03:42He's not in the locker room.
03:43And there really isn't much reason to talk to the backup quarterback at this time of year when he's not
03:50playing.
03:51So we haven't talked to him about this yet.
03:53And I don't know if there's any type of, like I said, any type of an agenda here.
03:59But I know that the Browns don't want to trade him.
04:03He's next in line.
04:04He's next man up.
04:05And they always need at least two quarterbacks a year.
04:08So I don't know that you would want to go and ask for a trade when you're one play away
04:14from getting in the game for the Cleveland Browns.
04:17I don't know either, but the timing throws me off.
04:19Lima had me worked up earlier this morning about it with a lot of hypotheticals.
04:23It bothers me.
04:24We are getting closer to the practice window being closed up on Dylan Gabriel to have to make a decision
04:29there.
04:30And, I mean, the team is three and two.
04:32They are competitive.
04:34So instead of being like one and four or something like that, which a lot of people thought they'd be
04:37maybe at this juncture,
04:38it's like, well, if you were not competitive, you could keep four quarterbacks.
04:43I am competitive.
04:44My team is competitive.
04:45And I need defensive linemen.
04:47I need running backs.
04:48I got to have all hands on deck.
04:49I can't just be keeping four quarterbacks now.
04:52Well, that is what they would like to do.
04:55That's the preference.
04:56They want to keep four quarterbacks.
04:58They do not want to move any of these quarterbacks off the 53-man roster.
05:03But as you mentioned, things change.
05:05You have injuries.
05:06And sometimes you have to make tough decisions.
05:08But if anything, I think that they would probably try to squeeze Taylor and Green onto the practice squad,
05:15which would require waving him first and trying to sneak him through waivers.
05:19I think that would probably be difficult.
05:22He's 6'6".
05:23It's easier to squeeze Dylan Gabriel into places than Taylor and Green, I'm just saying.
05:28Right.
05:28I hear you.
05:30Sorry.
05:31He's just a big guy.
05:32A lot of people are excited about him.
05:34Like, I don't know if we could squeeze him onto a practice squad there, Mary Kay.
05:37I mean, I would hope.
05:38But maybe I think too highly of Taylor and Green.
05:41Maybe the other teams wouldn't be very interested in him.
05:44I don't know.
05:44That kind of startles me.
05:47Well, I wouldn't do it.
05:49I would not take that risk because there are so many injuries amongst quarterbacks in the NFL right now
05:55that I do think that teams might want to take a chance on him.
05:58So I wouldn't do that.
06:00But you never know.
06:01I mean, anything can happen.
06:03I don't think that Shador is going to be traded.
06:06I know the Browns don't want to trade him.
06:08And just because he hires representation doesn't mean that that's what they're trying to do.
06:12I think he's just building his team around him for whatever comes.
06:17I really don't think that he would ask for a trade right now when he's going to have an opportunity
06:22to play.
06:23Well, the history also shows, I mean, at least in Andrew Barry's time, that they've never –
06:27I don't think they've ever responded to a trade demand or request at that time.
06:33Have they ever done that?
06:34No, I mean, David Njoku asked for trades on multiple occasions, I think.
06:39I think it was three times.
06:40They never did that.
06:40I know Kareem did.
06:41That didn't happen.
06:44OBJ was let go.
06:47No, I don't think so.
06:48So even if he did ask for one, especially because he's a quarterback,
06:52and because he's the backup quarterback, it's like, I don't know, Mary Kay.
06:55It's like there's so many things that are being said now about the shotgun.
06:59Okay, well, that's a defensive key.
07:01That limits what they can do offensively.
07:03The run game, which we have to ask questions about Quinshot and Judkins.
07:06We have to ask questions about the offensive line.
07:08And then about Deshaun Watson's health, I just think if he were to ask for a trade now,
07:14if that were actually possible, I think it would be a very short-sighted thing
07:17because I don't think there's very many fans who think we're out of the woods
07:21and everything's free and clear with Deshaun Watson for the rest of this season.
07:25No, and as I mentioned before, the Browns over the last three seasons
07:29have used five quarterbacks, four quarterbacks, and three quarterbacks in a season.
07:33So there isn't even a good chance that Dylan Gabriel could start games this season.
07:38And, you know, I just don't really think that that's anything the Browns want to do right now
07:42is move either of those two guys, Shador or Dylan, who might play for them this season.
07:49So, you know, we'll have to see how that goes.
07:51But as far as the shotgun and all the talk about that,
07:55the Browns actually started the season with more of an under-center play-action type of game
08:00and then transitioned away from that towards a little bit more shotgun spread concept type situation
08:07to try to maximize Deshaun's strengths.
08:10But they can always pivot off of that.
08:12It doesn't mean that they have to stick with that at all times.
08:15Mary Kay Cabot joining us on the Wiseheart Right.
08:17We Make It Right called Kyle Right Hotline.
08:21Jerry Judy, same question.
08:25Jordan Schultz had mentioned something on his podcast, I think.
08:29Is there any possibilities of moving Jerry Judy here over the next few weeks?
08:34No, I don't think so.
08:36I really don't think so.
08:37I think that that's another situation where they know that they're going to need their depth.
08:43There are always injuries.
08:44Look what happened with KC in this past game.
08:47So Jerry is another player that I think will be here and that the Browns are absolutely not looking to
08:53trade.
08:53Now, having said all of that, things do change.
08:57You do get phone calls around the trade deadline that you weren't expecting.
09:01And even when you look back to the Greg Newsome, Tyson Campbell trade, sometimes things come along that you just
09:09didn't think were going to be there.
09:10That also happened, obviously, with the Miles Garrett trade.
09:13So Andrew Barry is always looking to wheel and deal, and he always will listen to offers.
09:20But he's not heading into the trade deadline seeking to trade any of these players.
09:25All right, Mary Kay.
09:26So I have been accused of making a lot of excuses for Deshaun Watson last week.
09:32I thought he played way better than what many have said about that performance.
09:37That if guys just hung on to the ball, people would have said he would have had a good performance.
09:41What did you make of it, noticing that he got sacked eight times, probably could have been double digits,
09:45and had no running game once again?
09:49Well, it's very, very tough to operate an offense when you don't have an effective running game.
09:54It's hard to be backed up at your nine and at your seven when you can't dig out of there.
09:58And when you do try to dig out of there, a pass or two is getting dropped or someone is
10:04slipping.
10:05So I really don't think that he got the help that he needed.
10:08And here's the thing about quarterbacks.
10:10You can have an up-and-down game.
10:12Josh Allen has up-and-down games all the time.
10:15He's aggressive.
10:16He makes mistakes.
10:17And then what you need to do is you need to come through when the shifts are down and the
10:24game is on the line.
10:25And that's what Deshaun did.
10:26He hit that touchdown pass to Denzel Boston.
10:29And then he came back again and put the ball into the hands of Isaiah Bond on second and 19.
10:36If they hit that pass and he dropped that one, if they hit that, then it becomes the Deshaun Watson
10:43-Denzel Boston show again.
10:44And there's a pretty good chance that you are, you know, maybe hitting another touchdown pass there, the game winner,
10:52the fourth straight game winner.
10:53And then the conversation would be completely different.
10:56So I thought from a protection standpoint, from a drops standpoint, and from a running game standpoint, that he did
11:05not have the support that he needed around him on that particular day.
11:10Now, he didn't have his best game.
11:12But like I wrote in a column the other day, you don't always have to have a perfect game.
11:17You just have to make the plays when they need to be made.
11:20And I thought that he did that.
11:22Mary Kay Cabot joining us on the show.
11:24How much does Todd Munkin help Mike Grutenberg this week with being able to stop Lamar Jackson if Lamar Jackson
11:30ends up playing on Sunday?
11:34Oh, a ton.
11:35An absolute ton, yes.
11:37I mean, he knows Lamar Jackson as well as any coach in the NFL.
11:40He knows his tendencies.
11:41He knows his weaknesses.
11:43Of course, there aren't many of those.
11:45But he will be a tremendous, tremendous help.
11:48And I'm sure Lamar Jackson is going to be fired up to play against Todd Munkin.
11:52They had their moments with each other last year.
11:55It didn't always go the way that either of them wanted it to.
11:59So I'm sure Lamar is going to have a lot of motivation for this game.
12:03I'm hearing that there is a decent chance that he's going to play this game.
12:07And we all know the competitor that Lamar is.
12:09If there's any way he can play this game, he absolutely will be out there.
12:14What is your feeling, just from what you hear?
12:17I was going to ask you about that report, about him ending up playing on Sunday.
12:22If you were to hazard a guess, just based on your feeling, do you think it would be him or
12:27do you think it would be Tyler Huntley against the Browns?
12:30I think it'll be Lamar.
12:31I think, again, yeah, I think it'll be Lamar.
12:34There's still a lot of time between now and Sunday to heal up.
12:38And I think that he's trying to rest that ankle and do everything that he possibly can to be out
12:44there.
12:44This is a battle for first place in the AFC North.
12:47He's not going to want to miss it.
12:49And I think he'll be there.
12:51Mary Kay, we thank you so much for the time.
12:54All the best to you and yours.
12:55And we'll talk to you again coming up next week.
12:58Sounds good.
12:58Thanks, guys.
12:59Mary Kay Cabot.
13:00On the Wiseheart Right, we make it right.
13:02Call Kyle Right Hotline.
13:03All the best to you and yours.
