00:41where he's like we overthink and we overanalyze it and uh he dropped a bit of an f-bomb in

00:48saying just let it rip and andre schmidt did exactly that on sunday we'll get to that in a hot
00:53minute i
00:54do want to start with the gardos there uh where you at with the gardos after getting bounced out
00:58in the alcs last night by the rays yeah it's obviously a brutal way for it to end especially
01:05after you're up two to one i i do think that you know and i posted this last night i
01:12still believe
01:12it to be true i just don't understand if tanner bobby was unpitchable why he was on the roster then
01:20because he he was your opening day starter he was a valuable member of the rotation on the playoff push
01:26be one thing if he was banged up or you know if they don't trust him that's fine but then
01:31why why
01:31are you on the roster to begin with because you trusted matt festa with your season on the line
01:36and you didn't trust tanner bobby there is no today last night was it and so the fact that he
01:43didn't pitch
01:43was damning to him and uh and and for them because they clearly didn't believe in him and to be
01:51the
01:51opening day starting pitcher for this franchise i mean honestly for them to get as far as they did
01:56within that really playing a role you know you basically had a pitcher and a half for your
02:02rotation because parker messick wasn't himself gavin williams was himself uh but we went into the
02:09playoff thinking messick was going to be the guy and ultimately williams was the guy and messick showed
02:13why he's a rookie he'll be fine in the big picture of it guys everybody wants to you know tear
02:18up the
02:19hitting staff and make these sweeping changes they're not going to make sweeping changes come
02:23on um they've made eight of the last 11 post seasons they're a postseason machine i know
02:29everybody wants a championship they went and tried to enhance their roster certain guys didn't hit this
02:34series the rays are really good they ran the yankees off the field it's a really good guardian
02:39season it's a really really good season it's a tough way to go out but i think for me it's
02:44like
02:44we always talk about how this is a pitching factory and the guardians ran out of pitching
02:49that to me is the biggest takeaway i had oh yeah and i feel like the pitching has been a
02:53red herring
02:53for the real problem uh three straight losses seven total runs you go seven to 37 with runners in
02:58scoring position you basically had an offensive onslaught in game one and and from game two on
03:03you didn't score more than three in any given game i i think john i thought the the pitching
03:07masked the idea that this offense once again just let this team down
03:12yeah the the offense totally uh the the offense you know they did uh let this team down and there
03:20was there was a lot put on on there's a lot on the meat of your order jonathan but you
03:26got to be
03:27able to perform and jose ramirez had a couple of opportunities he delivered in the albs he had a
03:34couple chances in this series it just didn't happen there's a lot on his plate joe adele did not have
03:39a
03:39good series uh he he just he he didn't travis pazana kind of had a hey welcome to the playoffs
03:46uh series and you know i mean i thought the other thing is like you're playing in the alcs
03:52and the attention to detail was not at that level bailey challenging calls early in games
03:58some infield defense that just wasn't good enough so i don't know about you guys i guess i was watching
04:03last night i thought to myself god it's kind of amazing that they were one of the last four standing
04:07good for them you know i'm not trying to play the the fiddle here of like wow we didn't win

04:12championship but we came close hooray i know that's really hard for fans to hear but like this isn't a
04:19tanking sport so you know you don't like blow it up and then come back in 10 years no they're

04:25consistent organization they were outmatched in this series tampa bay had had more pitching but yeah i
04:32mean you're right like you can only expect your pitching to mask not good enough offense for so
04:39long uh i think what i think you know that that's the other side of it like we put so
04:46much on our
04:46pitching stats every single year that when they start to look human do you have the offense to
04:51compensate for it and ours didn't it's a lot better to have to have consistent pitching
04:58um at the end of the day because chicago didn't have that and the white socks collapsed they they
05:04just collapsed at the seams and the guardians were able to hit that i just my disappointment with the
05:09bybee thing is in my head guys because i can't get past the fact that he didn't pitch
05:16all right so let's get to the big picture here do you put the loss in the alcs on the
05:21talent or do you
05:22put it on leadership like stephen vote in the front office oh no i i don't put it on leadership
05:30i mean i i i don't there's listen you could question every manager down the line they brought
05:37people hated dave roberts three years ago in la and he's ran a machine up until now uh a year

05:45listen to what brewers fans were saying about pat murphy they thought this guy can't win in the
05:50postseason he's not good enough da da da da you know now right now the cubs cubs fans um they

06:11year was like you can't win in the playoffs guys like this is this is there's some buttons you got

06:24and we're pitching the mop-up guy i don't like that i i just don't um and doesn't sound like

06:43say that about most managers steven vote's a heck of a manager he's a he's a top five manager in
06:47baseball right now you know i heard anthony castrovins came on and said something about him
06:52going to the mariners god i hope not i really hope he doesn't go to the mariners that'd be a
06:55humongous loss for the guardians and their franchise steven vote is one of the very very best managers in
07:02the sport you gotta hit the ball you have to hit the ball you know if you i've questioned their
07:08hitting instruction but that comes down to more than just steven vote there's a whole there's a
07:14ton of hitting coaches in an organization and it actually starts at single a so like i or even below
07:20that so i i don't put it on leadership i put it on the players guys didn't perform you gotta
07:26get the
07:26big hit you put people on base gotta get the big hit they had two on base two on base

07:32is loaded somebody's got to step up brian rocchio didn't look like he had a clue out there what was
07:37going on so i'm sorry but that's not you're you're a professional baseball player you got to step up
07:44and perform guys didn't do enough maybe next year all right john let's get to the browns uh it's
07:49interesting you know they're either four and two you get the win on sunday everyone's celebrating and
07:54in what kind of looked like an ugly game more than it was anything else uh but like the the
07:58past couple
07:58days john for a four and two team and a leader of the afc north we have not gotten the
08:05excitement
08:05from the fan base like i'm just not feeling it in any sort of way uh why is that why

08:10like fans aren't latching on to this four and two start and just grinning with excitement because they
08:16were unwatchable offensively for three quarters on sunday that i mean and it's it's hard because
08:26you don't know who your quarterback's going to be next year i mean we we talked about
08:32like how that's such a big question for this team and the reason why i haven't i haven't apologized to
08:41to deshaun because i've been pretty harsh on him like i'll say this i i didn't think he added him

08:47the fourth quarter and and to that i said i was wrong i think i think i don't think i'm
08:51alone in
08:52that but like i got to see more in the first three quarters of these games you know i think
08:57that's what
08:57would turn fans into really believing the nfl is a points league and you've got to be able to step
09:04up and score and even todd munkin said it in our conversation last night he's like you got to hit

09:15a lot i expected more excitement though um i expect more excitement from the fans you just beat

09:35networks are starting to fall in love with you like i you know like you're you're you're doing the
09:41damn thing and so to the fans out there who don't want to uh to get on board i don't

09:48you're waiting for this is what you hope for the browns are four and two they found their coach i
09:54mean this guy has done a heck of a job getting this team to believe in to play hard and

10:00great defense mike rudenberg is is is unbelievable within the game figuring things out and you traded
10:07miles garrett i mean guys i had him winning three games they've already surpassed that total
10:12so i do expect more excitement but you asked me why what do i attribute the reason to
10:17the lack of excitement being i think it's because it's hard to sustain it like they can't continue
10:23to perform like this offensively and and win the division and the running back room is obviously
10:29you know it's it's in a difficult spot i mean they just their inability to run the ball great
10:35has been been challenging in a variety of ways and so that's where like i don't put none to sean

10:40like yeah they that's why there's doubters that's why there's people that aren't buying into this the
10:45good news is you're four and two and your offense could not for the first three quarters could the
10:49offense have been any worse on sunday i don't think so the only thing worse would have been turning the

16:01um i think that they're in a position where they have four games to the bye i'll say that they're
16:09six
16:09and four at the bye week i think that if they get to six and four i think that's we
16:14should view that
16:14as a big success considering you still have the texans and steelers ahead before the bye
16:20correct correct yeah and you know the huge they're tough at home i mean that's the one home game they've
16:26got there against houston these are three on the road new orleans has their flaws um i mean pittsburgh
16:33has their flaws too like they they they played with some real fire in tampa bay you know i think
16:39the
16:40guy's familiarity with the division is a huge perk in this you know he clearly knows how to match up
16:45with teams he clearly knows how to get his team ready for division games and division games have
16:50really hurt the browns for so so long so yeah i would say six and four ahead of the bye

16:55i i'm so happy to be to to be wrong and um i'm so glad that they're doing what they're

17:03that's what's so fun is we're not talking about draft we're not talking about tanking for a
17:07quarterback we're talking about real real stuff real contention i expect them to be contending
17:12going in december you start the season four and two it's it's difficult not to i mean it's you're
17:18in a position here where when you look at their schedule and you look at the fact that the offense
17:23can only go in one direction why not why not the man's cooking with gas right now john fanta
