00:00The Browns did, it was reported the Browns were signing Audrick Estame over the weekend here,
00:05or sorry, yesterday, more specifically, Mary Kay Cabot was on this station earlier today
00:10talking about the running back injuries and getting this running game going.
00:15I really don't know.
00:16They just said basically that he tweaked the ankle, so it didn't sound that serious.
00:20At this point, I don't think he's headed for IR, but you never really know.
00:25And then Rocket Sanders also dinged his hip in that game.
00:29So they definitely need to bring in a little bit of reinforcement there,
00:34and they've got to get this running game going.
00:36There's no way that they're going to continue to win games if they can't run the football.
00:41So that's got to be a priority.
00:43After this game, they have three road games.
00:46It's not going to get any easier.
00:48They need to get back on the winning track as soon as possible,
00:50and they're going to need a running game to do so.
00:52I think it's going to be really interesting to see what the running game looks like
00:57if Quinchon can't go on Sunday against Baltimore because it wouldn't surprise me
01:02if you just saw more consistent production out of the backfield.
01:06I mean, the expectation at this point has to be if Quinchon can't go,
01:09you look better in the backfield because it can't get much worse
01:11than what Quinchon has been able to do so far.
01:13Yeah, and I do think the offensive line has been bad,
01:17and that probably is where it starts.
01:18There's too many all-22 features of them just whiffing on blocks,
01:24not being on – it's like a timing thing too.
01:28Fair.
01:30Quinchon second-guessing himself and maybe not just basically taking one cut
01:34and going is absolutely making this a part of the problem as well.
01:38And so I think there's some confidence issues for Quinchon,
01:41not just this year, by the way.
01:42It goes all the way back to last year.
01:45Ohio State has not had the best offensive line when Quinchon was there,
01:49it's still a hell of a lot easier when half of your games are against Rutgers
01:53or Minnesota to kind of get going and get some confidence.
01:57And Quinchon just hasn't had that kind of game since, I want to say,
02:00like October of last year.
02:02Yeah, I mean, one 100-yard game has always got to his pro football reference page.
02:06Like, it's not good enough, but the yards per attempt, I mean,
02:09it can't get worse than what he's been doing so far.
02:11And I agree, it's not all his fault, but it almost feels like just kind of like
02:15a week to reset might be the best thing for everybody.
02:17Yeah, we are, I am officially on, like, I'm a little concerned about where they are
02:23injury-wise.
02:24Like, Quinchon's hurt.
02:25Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of it.
02:26Even, like, Schwestinger, if Lamar's able to go and Schwestinger's not able to,
02:32that's huge.
02:32Yeah, the Schwestinger one is the bigger injury for me.
02:35So, Mason Graham, you at least, we got the proof of concept against the Jets
02:40that, all right, and not just the Jets, the Steelers as well.
02:43You can still get a lot of pressure.
02:46Schwestinger, I like some of the linebackers they have behind Schwestinger
02:49and Quincy Williams.
02:50I don't know how you take Mason Graham off the field if he can't play this
02:54weekend and Schwestinger and have the same kind of impact, especially as you
02:58pointed out, if Lamar's back.
02:59Yeah, I mean, if Lamar's back, I mean, it's funny, I always think about JOK
03:02with this, but when the Browns drafted JOK, it still applies the same way.
03:05When they drafted JOK in that press conference, Andrew Barry is like,
03:08we drafted him because we wanted to stop Lamar Jackson.
03:11Like, Lamar is so huge in what he's able to do, and a linebacker like that
03:16just takes him out of the equation, not fully, because you're never taking
03:19Lamar fully out, but someone like Carson is just so instrumental in that.
03:23So, if he can't go, I think that's the biggest blow this weekend.
03:26Yeah, and I think we're to the point where there's enough injuries that just
03:32the high-profile guys, that this is where, like, this is going to have to be
03:37the week, even if Schwestinger's in there, even if Mason Graham is in there,
03:42this has to be the week that you take a significant step in the right direction
03:47in the Browns beating the Browns side of things, because you are going to have
03:52to play a very clean game, and that's even if you're at full strength here.
03:56Even if Huntley's the backup, by the way, is in.
03:59I know, it just kind of felt like for the early stretch of this season,
04:01everything that the Browns were touching was turning to gold,
04:04and it was working out.
04:05Even if it looked ugly, it was still working out.
04:08I just hope the Jets game isn't a turning of the tide on that,
04:10because now since the Jets game, obviously you lose that game,
04:12you don't pull it off, but now you wake up, and Monday and then today,
04:16we're just talking about Quinchon being injured, Schwestinger being injured,
04:19Mason Graham being injured, all these guys.
04:21These are key components of this team having success.
04:25I actually hope it's the opposite.
04:26Well, everybody hopes it's the opposite.
04:28I think that game should be the wake-up call.
04:31You should have won that game.
04:32The Jets also can claim they should have won that game,
04:35but your defense gave you every chance to win,
04:37and you were some clock management stuff
04:41and one or two decent plays away from being able to say you were 4-1.
04:46The gap between being 3-2 and 4-1 specific to that game is not a lot.
04:51The gap between being 4-2 and 3-3 is significant just because it's time.
04:57You need to learn from the mass amount of mistakes you made in the first five games.
05:01I know, but the response from Todd Munkin is going to be crucial in this,
05:05but I worry because every time we get him at the podium,
05:07I don't even blame him because it's how I think too,
05:09and he's like, so how do you explain the catches?
05:11Well, he didn't catch a ball in the second quarter.
05:14He didn't catch a ball in the fourth quarter.
05:15He's got to make those catches.
05:16I don't know what to tell him.
05:18How do you explain the penalties?
05:20Well, you know, Titus Howard, he's a veteran.
05:22He's going to get this turned around,
05:23but it just seems like all these type of things keep popping up.
05:26Munkin doesn't have a great reason for why any of it's happening,
05:28but it is continuing to happen.
05:30216-474-0092 are the injuries now the problem with the Browns.
05:36Swessinger, Quinshawn Judkins, Mason Graham amongst the Browns
05:39that are dealing with significant injuries here.
05:42BP and Pepper Pike, welcome to the show, BP.
05:44What's up, BP?
05:45Hey, guys.
05:46How are you both doing?
05:47Good?
05:47Doing all right, buddy.
05:48How about yourself?
05:50Doing well.
05:50You know, I was very disappointed with that Browns game.
05:52I thought the offensive line was terrible.
05:55I mean, look at it.
05:56We can't get any push off the ball for the running backs,
05:59and we can't, you know, protect the quarterback.
06:01So we're losing all the way around.
06:03So to me, I don't think Quinshawn Judkins is washed up as a second-year player.
06:08And, you know, Watson has, you know, he's pretty elusive.
06:11So he still got sacked eight times.
06:13So they got to figure out the offensive line.
06:16But that, to me, was the biggest problem.
06:18And, of course, you know, like Bohorquez, you know, dropping that snap was a killer.
06:22And then, in my opinion, I don't know why they don't go to Harold Fannin more.
06:26I mean, the guy got one catch for four yards.
06:28I mean, what's the problem?
06:29It was a frickin' rainstorm.
06:31How can you not, you know, get more out of your tight end who's, you know, 6'3", 240?
06:36I mean, I don't even understand.
06:37I don't remember many screen passes, you know, to, like, Rocket Sanders.
06:41He's pretty good at catching the ball on third down.
06:43I just, to me, that was a loss, a wasted game.
06:47They should have won that game.
06:48And that's disappointing.
06:50And I can actually see the season taking a downward spiral from here
06:53because I don't see them beating the Ravens.
06:55But I'm very disappointed how they're using Harold Fannin this year.
06:59What do you guys think?
06:59BP, we appreciate you, buddy.
07:01The special team stuff, just real quick, I do put on the environment with the weather
07:07because special teams up until, in the other four games, was fantastic.
07:11Yeah, they've been really good up until this point.
07:12In pretty much every phase.
07:14The Fannin stuff, I do think it's just as plausible as they're trying to keep Fannin in
07:19or whomever is in a tight end because of the blocking issues.
07:23That's what Nathan described to us yesterday.
07:25It's like he's supposed to help on him blocking, but there also has to be a recognition there
07:28that you didn't draft Harold Fannin to be a great blocking tight end.
07:30Yeah, at the same point, I don't think they feel like they have enough depth
07:35to run a lot of two tight end sets.
07:37You know, like, they're in a weird spot here.
07:40And by the way, Harold's also not done a great job of blocking either.
07:43Not as bad as Quinshawn did.
07:45I think Quinshawn, the running back, has maybe gotten a little bit of a –
07:50has taken the – been the meat shield for Quinshawn, the blocker.
07:54None of it's been very good.
07:552-1-6, 4-7-4, double-0-9-2 are the injuries now the problem for the Browns.
