00:00Is he durable enough, Joe?
00:02I don't want to compare him to RG3 situation, but, man, availability, as you know,
00:08is the most important thing for a quarterback outside of being truly gifted.
00:14You've got to be available for you to build a game plan around, to build a roster around.
00:18How do you look at all that?
00:21He is truly gifted, Dan.
00:23I mean, he really is.
00:24He throws the ball well, moves around well.
00:26You know, I think because of missing so many games the end of last year,
00:31because being out this year, he hasn't found a comfort level in this offense,
00:36and he hasn't found a comfort level in the pocket, and it's certainly understandable.
00:40That is not a criticism.
00:42That's just, if you're not in that position, you know, you're not in a groove.
00:46You're just, you know, and he starts to get a groove, and then, you know,
00:50then he makes some great plays with his legs.
00:52Is durability a factor?
00:54That's something we have to wait and see.
00:58I'm glad, for one thing, that he made it through this game with the brace on his elbow.
01:03I'm glad that he got through that.
01:05You know, we've played five games.
01:07We've had three different guys take snaps, and I don't know when Marcus is coming back.
01:11Ethan did, I think, an admirable job for having no playing time,
01:15and now Jaden's sort of trying to get back into it,
01:18and the weather conditions were lousy.
01:20Throwing a ball in that kind of weather is no fun.
01:22I thought he did a terrific job with that.
01:24But is he durable?
01:26I think we just have to wait and see.
01:28You know, the same question can be asked of someone else, Dan, Michael Penix.
01:33He goes out of the Atlanta game.
01:35They're in control of that football game.
01:37All of a sudden, Michael goes out to his steps on the field,
01:40and, you know, we know how that thing ended.
01:43Baltimore winds up picking it off, and the game's over.
01:46But, you know, it's a tough position to play.
01:50You know, that's why you look at the big, strappy guys like, you know, Trevor Lawrence.
01:55It's about, gosh, I was with him at the American Century Championship.
01:58He's huge.
02:00He's huge.
02:01Josh Allen, huge.
02:03These guys are adorable.
02:04They're big.
02:05They take hits.
02:06But you also have to learn how to protect yourself.
02:09And I think Jaden's done a much better job, as the years have gone on here,
02:13the last couple years, is sliding, getting out of bounds,
02:16doing the things that you need to do to make sure that you can line up again.
02:20The accidents that he has had and the injuries that he has had are freaky ribs, elbow.
02:26I mean, you don't see these happen very often to guys.
02:31So hopefully he can continue to play and play and play,
02:35and he'll get better and better and better as he does
02:39and becomes more familiar with getting more comfortable back in the pocket.
